A Scenicruiser Eye View of the Mother Road
True stories of driving for the Big Dog along Route 66. Written in a freindly, come-on-along style that makes it a pleasure to travel the road with Howard Suttle. Humor, tragedy and a love of the road are reflected in each of the stories. For anyone who ever wanted to drive a bus, or take a cross-country trip while allowing someone else to do the driving this is a must read.

Very good.....but
I bought this book hoping for a Linda Howard story I hadn't read, only to find the one in here is An Independent Wife. Good story, if you haven't read it yet, though. And if you like Stella Cameron, her contribution was worthwhile, as well.

Since there is no description of this audio book, I thought I would add one.
This is a Collector's Edition of *3* Linda Howard romances (abridged). All That Glitters, Loving Evangeline, and An Independent Wife.
I took a chance and ordered this not really knowing what I would be getting, and I am so glad I did.

Fabuloso y Educativo
My son and I really enjoy this book for a few reasons. He enjoys liftng the panels and finding many surprises. Many of the items pictured in the book are items that he encounters on an everyday basis. It makes him very excited when he recognizes and can name them. The book also helps reinforce his spanish vocabulary. The words are large and all the pictures are bright and colorful. I enjoy watching his reaction when he remembers something new and is proud of himself. Overall I feel this is an excellent book for those who wish to learn beginner's spanish.

A True Hero!
Ex-cop Jake Cutter is just months away from his parole when he strikes a malicious prison guard. Now he's a man on the run in the middle of one of the worst forest fires in history. His only hope is to make it to Mexico because he knows he can't stand another six years in prison. But he doesn't count on meeting Regan Delaney in a lonely mountain cabin. And he can't just leave a defenseless woman in the middle of a forst fire. Somehow he has to get her to safety without jeopardizing his own freedom.

Regan Delaney just needed to regroup, get her personal life under control, after her husband left her for another woman. The last thing she expected to find in the lonely little cabin was a tall, exhausted firefighter but his presence soothed the panic that had been building inside her since she discovered that she'd been cut off from safety by the forest fire.

As they hike through the forest toward safety, these two characters begin a journey of trust and love. Neither of them have had easy lives and Jake's has been tougher than most. Ms. Riggs always writes powerful characters who have to surmount incredible odds before they can find love. A wonderful story!

Fascinating ... + great history!!
I hadn"t read a Linda Howard for ages, since Sarah's Child, but Son of the Morning was well worth the wait. The plot was great and the character development (mainly Grace's but even, to a certain extent Niall"s was wonderful. Grace shows us how a housewife come academic can survive on the run to outwit her pursuers. The book did make me a bit worried about the possibility of manipulating ATMs though.

LH did borrow a few ideas - mainlt, I think, from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Iris Johansen"s The Lion King but neither were as sexy and as informative as Son of the Morning . And the manipulation of the Time travel theme creating a sort of circle in time was also great (even though the Hitler idea which crops up in the end seems a bit of an afterthought). One thing which this book has left me with is a hunger to know more about the Knight Templars. I'm Maltese and have heard a lot about hte Knights of St. John (a.k.a. the Knights of Malta) but I have to admit that I used to believe that the Knights Templar was just another name for the Knights of Malta

I am obsessed with this book!!
I have read this book seven times in a year, too much time on my hands you ask? Why do I keep going back? The character Black Niall is so real to me. When I'm reading I can feel his passion, his presence. I haven't found a way to get to the 13th century like Grace St. John does, and like the heroine in this book, I'm obsessed with Black Niall. So where can I find a man like Black Niall in this century? Big, beautiful, passionate, dangerous, mysterious, and gentle.

Wouldn't it be great if Linda Howard wrote a sequel? I'm sure all of her fans would love to see how Grace and Niall are faring in Scotland's 13th century. Don't you just love that accent?

Son of the Morning has everything: time-travel, action, adventure, steamy love scenes, bloody 13th century battles. All of her character's are colorful and realistic, right down to Grace's street-smart friend, Harmony.

Linda Howard made me an addict, I've read almost all of her many many novels, and won't stop until I've read them all. YOU'VE GOT TO READ THIS BOOK!!

An Incredible Story
Linda Howard's Son of the Morning is a book that I will keep and no doubt read again, which I don't often do. Having just completed the series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander, and wondering what I would read while waiting for the next book in the series, I decided to read Son of the Morning.

Once I read the first few pages I was hooked on this book. For those of you not familiar with the Outlander series it's a time-travel Scottish romance and Son of the Morning is also a time-travel Scottish romance. That is where the similarity ends because Linda Howard has written a book that stands on it's own merit.

The main character is a woman, Grace St. John, who translates ancient manuscripts for Parrish Sawyer the head of an archaeological foundation. Grace is currently translating documents from the 14th century concerning a group of monks called the Knights of the Templar and their mysterious treasure. They were monks but they were also warriors, the best and most fierce warriors in the land. Thus far Grace has translated enough of the documents to know that King Philip and Pope Clement executed and tortured many of the Knights of the Templar in 1307 to find and gain control of their gold and the legendary treasure. The Grand Master of the Knights ordains that the best warrior of the Order, Niall of Scotland, will watch over and protect the treasures. Niall, or Black Niall as he is called, establishes a strong hold in Creag Dhu, a castle in Scotland to hide and protect the treasure and he is known as The Guardian.

Grace's life suddenly and violently changes when she witnesses Parrish Sawyer murder her husband Ford and her brother Bryant. She over hears Sawyer's plan to find and murder her as well to get the documents she is translating. Grace begins a year of running for her life from Parrish Sawyer and his hired assassins. While Grace is struggling to survive in the street and hide from her pursuers she knows she must finish translating the documents so she can discover what is in them that Sawyer was willing to kill for. Grace goes through a major transformation while she is in hiding and struggling to survive.

After Grace completes the translation and learns the secret of the documents she knows she must travel back in time to the 14th century to Creag Dhu and Niall of Scotland in order to stop the Foundation from finding the secret treasure and using it for their evil ends. Since time travel was one of the secret powers of the Knights of the Templar, the documents contained detail instructions on how to travel back in time.

I literally could not put this book down. It's exciting, intriguing and adventurous. The reader is taken back and forth between the 14th century with Niall and present day with Grace's hair-raising narrow escapes from the killers.

I highly recommend Son of the Morning to anyone who enjoys time travel stories, adventure, and romance. And especially to readers who are fans of the Outlander series, I promise you'll love this book!

The Stuff "Dream"s are made of
Linda Howard tells a marvelous story with Dream Man.

After six years of freedom from the "knowing", Marlie is chagrined to find that it - her clairvoyant empathy - has returned. A few days after she has a graphic and disturbing vision of a murder, she decides to go to the Orlando police to assist them in finding the killer.

Detective Dane Hollister doesn't believe a word that the woman with the compelling blue eyes tells him. But he knows that somehow Marlie knows exactly what she's talking about. He also knows that the feeling that overcomes him whenever the psychic is near is too strong to ignore.

After getting off to a rocky start and trying to deny a wild attraction, Dane and Marlie try to work together to find the Orlando Slasher and to figure out what's going on whenever they're in the same room.

Ms. Howard deserves commmendations for writing such an excellent story. I loved the scenes between Dane and Marlie, especially what each one went through as feelings were revealed. I highly recommend this novel for anyone who loves romantic suspense.

Dream Man--the dreamiest from Linda Howard
I can't tell you how many times I've read this book. It is not only on my keeper shelf, but is one of my favorit comfort reads. If you enjoy paranormal, suspense, and hunky cops, this books for you! Marlie Keen is a psychic who used to have incredible talent--but she hasn't been able to, or even wanted to, experience her talent in some time. It has actually been years, and she thinks she may have been "cured"--until she experiences a vision of a violent murder while driving home on the freeway. The murder is so clear and vivid to her she see no other choice but to go to the police--enter Dane, a sexy disgruntled homicide cop who dislikes her on sight, and then on principal. But he can't discount that she knows things only the killer or someone there could know...Linda leads through a thriller and a half here. And at times we even get to see into the head of the killer..talk about creepy. Dane is a Dream Man, and one of Linda's Alpha males she's known for, my favorite. This book is packed full of action and suspense, and you just don't know what's going to happen next...A Wonderful read!

DREAM MAN IS A DREAM OF A BOOK
This is by far Linda Howard's best novel. A real page turner - I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it and since then I've read it several times over again.
The plot is very clever and the main character's are compelling. Dane is most women's 'dream man' even though at first he isn't Marcie's! I loved this book because the plot line was brilliant, the sex scenes were steamy, it was exciting, romantic - everything a woman could want!
I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about reading a Linda Howard novel or for those who are already fans this one is a definite 'keeper'.

ohmigod!
This was an incredible book. One I didn't want to end, but couldn't put it down until I finished. It was amazing. That'a all I can say to describe it. It took me days to stop thinking about it. I was so impressed; I have never before wanted to be a character so badly. I still have to get over it and it's been three weeks since I have read it. Since then I have read every Linda Howard book to relive the experience and every time she leaves me simply wanting more. This one however, is by far my favorite. Maybe just because it was my first, but I enjoyed it so much I had my sister read it and I was leaning over her shoulder the entire time. Now I have decided I might just read it again. Most authors find a formula that works for them and stick to it, draining it for everything it's worth. I don't feel like that's the case with her books. Instead, I feel as though it's the same two people from AFTER THE NIGHT, Faith and Gray, they are reincarnated and find each other all over again. Everytime is just as exciting, just as passionate. And I fall for it everytime. Loving every second of it. I have finished some of her books within a matter of hours, and then I am upset because I have nothing else to do and I go looking for another. I can't tell you enough, read this, you wont regret it instead you will make yourself a slave to her.

A love it or leave it kind of book...
I`ve just read ATN and was curious about the reviews others might have given it. Well, it seems what makes the book great for most disgusted others.
I personnally LOVE this book. Gray Rouillard is in my top 3 Linda Howard heroes. ... An alpha male at his worst (or best). The man is rich, powerfull in his town, he has reasons to hate the Devlins. The night that gives the book it`s title is an act of utter cruelty. BUT if you read carefully, from the very beginning, Faith and Gray have the only «normal» relashionship between the protagonists. Both their personnalities are shaped by the lies, the deceit, the attitude of their families and their town. Believe me, small towns could drive you too over the edge.
I`ll agree with those reviewers who said this book is not for the weak. It`s an intense love story with not punches pulled. And Linda Howard goes there with a vengeance. That also makes it one great romance by a great writer, so take a chance. Trust me.

Definitely One of The Best from Linda Howard!!!
"You're trash. You're whole family is trash...." The words that have been imprinted in the mind of Faith Devlin for the past twelve years. Twelve years ago, Gray Rouillard forced her family off of his family land in the middle of the night blaming Faith's mother for the disappearance of his father, Guy Rouillard. After that night, Faith worked hard to make a name and a place for herself in the world, but always with the desire to return home. Her homecoming wasn't to flaunt her success, her business or the fact that she made more of herself than any other Devlin. Prescott was where she belonged, her home despite the chaos she lived through that night. But even more, Faith must solve the mystery of Guy Rouillard's disappearance and understand what caused her mother to run away that night. Moving back to Prescott isn't easy however, and Gray Rouillard tries to block her at every turn. But neither Faith nor Gray can understand the strong attraction that is between them. As the story unfolds you uncover the mystery of Guy Rouillard and appreciate the growing relationship between Gray and Faith,. I first saw this story two years back and passed it off as another "rich guy meets poor woman" story, but after reading it I can honestly say this story is anything but that. Linda Howard was able to make her characters come to life, you identify with the feelings of Faith Devlin and you want to both slap and laugh at Gray at times. This is definitely not the usual romantic suspense novels I usually read, this story had more romance than suspense. However, there were enough steamy moments and character development that I didn't miss the constant tension of a suspense novel. Great job!! I am glad I opened my horizons to this book...it is on my list of favorites

A Great Read
I doubt there are many romance fans out there that don't know about this series, but in case you're a Howard newcomer, here's the order: (MacKenzie's) Mountain, Mission, Pleasure, Magic, and then finally, A Game of Chance. With the exception of MacKenzie's Magic, they are all excellent reads.

Anti-terrorist agent Chance MacKenzie has been trying to get to the infamous terrorist Cripsin Hauer for what seems like forever. When Chance discovers he has a daughter--Sunny Miller--he sets his sights on seducing her, figuring she can lure Hauer to him. What he doesn't know at the time, is that Sunny has been on the run from her father since birth...

The book was a typical Howard in that it was fast-paced and sexy. The only reason I didn't give the book a solid five was because it was reminiscent in some ways of her early categories from the 80s...in other words, the hero infuriated me by his use of Sunny, going so far as to knowingly put her life in dire straights, even AFTER he knew of her innocence. I don't feel the reader was given enough "good" chapters at the end to completely balance out what Chance did to Sunny enough to get totally over that fact.

It's common for Howard to use a misunderstanding between the characters in her books, or even an out-and-out usage of the heroine on the part of the hero, and let's face it...they make excellent premises for a hot getting-back-together scene toward the end. But this is the first time I can think of where she had a hero use a heroine to the point of putting her in a position where he purposely endangered her LIFE. If an author's going to do that, I want to read major big-time, mind-blowing grovelling scenes before the heroine forgives him.

Nevertheless, A Game of Chance was a great read. Chance was sexy with a capital SEX (one of Sunny's lines in the book!) and Sunny made a great, independent heroine for the most part. Still, in retrospect, I find myself more likely to reread MacKenzie's Mountain and MacKenzie's Pleasure, Wolf and Zane's stories.

Finally! A worthy mate for Chance Mackenzie.
Any fan of Linda Howard's Mackenzie series has anxiously anticipated the story of the Mackenzie's adopted son, Chance. Sure enough, Chance is still his irrestible sexy self, and Howard has given him the perfect mate. Sunny Miller is delightfully spirited and does a wonderful job of standing up to Chance's strong personality. She also has a dark secret that Chance is determined to uncover. It's great fun to watch the two of them match wits, and the sexual tension between them is intense. The relationship alone makes this a satsfying ending to the Mackenzie saga. The plot is fast-paced and suspenseful, but there are some inconsistencies that I found distracting. For example, Howard makes a point of stating that Chance personally scouted out the location for a critical showdown at the same time that he supposedly never leaves Sunny's side. When it comes to intrigue, Chance is good, but he's not that good. This and a few other rough spots left me feeling like Howard was rushing too much to get this book out. Still, the romance between the two lead characters was so strong that I'll happily forgive a few plot flaws.

A Chance worth waiting for!
I have been waiting for Chance's story ever since he was introduced in MacKenzie's Pleasure and was not disappointed! You get to know his character and information about what his life was like before the MacKenzie's took him home. The interaction between Chance and Wolf was so moving and the last line of the book brought me to massive tears! I recommend reading the books in order to get a feel of the family, but each story is wonderful on it's own and I don't believe there's a better romance writer than Linda Howard. I love the MacKenzie's and their stories but I do wish there would have been more interaction between Chance & Sunny from the time she finds out what he did, to the end of the book. The book could have been 1000 pages and I would have loved it! I know Linda said this was the end of the MacKenzie stories, but I wish there was some way of doing the grandkids stories (especially Nick's) without having Wolf and Mary get old. Happy Reading Everyone!
