Aaaack! This is horrible.
This books is not designed for developers. Information is presented as a high-level overview of Notes' and Domino's capabilities. The book is over 1100 pages long, but the first 400 should be scrapped. I'm looking for a reference that contains clear, detailed examples of code and development processes. I also want to know why (if) Domino is superior to standard web servers by Netscape, Apache, and Microsoft.

Updated version of Notes 4 guide - available in hardcover
A comprehensive guide to the new version of Lotus Notes (4.5). Full of lots of information, but I would have liked a little more guidance on steps to setup up the initial server. Definitely worth owning - especially seeing there is a CD ROM with the whole book in HTML format. The ultimate reference!

One of the best if not the best of the Notes 4.5 books.
The previous reviewer is correct that the previous published work did cover a lot of the Notes basics. However after you look at what is on the CD and the text you will see the value of this book. This book definitely has assisted me in developing many of the applications that I have written for my clients. The text is written so that you don't have to read a whole chapter in the book. You can read the sections that need. This is really a great reference book for building quality Notes applications

Whoever loves Exodus should read this.
In here Exodus is the trouble maker while Magneto is recovering from the loss of his mind, and colossus feeling kind of guildty for leaving the X-men, THis book is great, it has a lot of heroes in it and you can keep track of all the heroes. If you love The avengers, avengers WEst Coast, The X-Men, Exodus, or even Fabian Cortez, this is the book to read.

If you like a lot of heros, this could be for you
Agreed the art isn't great in the Avengers pieces, but if you like a lot of variety and a fun, fun book with a lot of adventure and a good ending that is a surprise till the end, this may be for you.

A good story with Avengers tension, mutant vs hero tension, mutant vs mutant tension and a great "Mageneto's Family" suffering for Magneto's sins storyline.

I would reccomend it.

A gritty story, showing the realism of war.
An excellent story, showing a darker side to the marvel universe. The tragic story of war in the island nation of Genosha, the gritty realism of the story along with the excellent artwork, makes for a great read. I would strongly recommend this, for it is truly, one of the few classic storys produced by Marvel.

How to pick up women
I don't think this book provides adequate advice, and may actually be dangerous to the average fella trying to pick up women. Here's some advice. remember, conditioning is important, go heavy on the squats and leg lifts to strengthen your lower back and thighs. I try hit the gym three times a week. Remember, always vary your workout routine with the size of the woman you are going to be picking up. And always stretch before and after you pick up a woman, they're heavier than they look sometimes. And fer christ sakes, lift with your legs not your back!

For anyone seeking female companionship
In The Ugly Man's Guide To Picking Up Women (And Keeping Them), author Mark Patton has written an insightful, effective, "how to" book on creating a relationship with a woman by improving a fellow's mating potential through improving one's personality, physical appearance, hold an engaging conversation, effective places to take a date, "making a move", sex tips, dealing with the "morning after", what to do about her kids and pets, gift giving, moving in together, the etiquette of breaking up, getting married, and much, much more! Written with wit, humor, experience, and expertise (Patton is (5'5 and himself "attractively challenged" but managed to woo, win and wed an attractive wive who adores him) The Ugly Man's Guide To Picking Up Women is "must" reading for anyone seeking female companionship whether its for an evening, a weekend, or a lifetime.

Disappointing
As an ecology student, I expected a sound scientifically written ecology and management tool. Although some selected studies were quoted, this book appears to have a political agenda. Every section has a "and here's why doves should be hunted" swing which I found to be annoying.

This isn't a book. It's a $50 pamphlet.
"Understanding CORBA" was written by two software engineers at the now-defunct Digital Equipment Corp. This dinky book reads very much like a DEC manual from the "good old days": dry and uninformative. Reading the book may not give anyone much insight into CORBA, but it will give you an idea of why DEC is no longer around.

It's not a book, it's a pamphlet.
This skinny text barely skims CORBA's surface. It was written by a couple of software engineers at DEC, and it is just as dry and uninformative as any DEC manual. Reading this book, you may not learn much about CORBA, but you'll gain some insight as to why DEC is no longer around.

Good introduction for the uninitiated
This was a good introductory book for CORBA, targeting readers with only elementary knowledge of operating systems and programming. Advanced readers who want to get an introduction to CORBA will find this book readable but unsatisfactory.

Unpublished for a reason
Finding an unpublished piece by Mark Twain is reason to celebrate, but that doesn't mean its shortcomings should be ignored. Though the story begins well and has an interesting set up, the ending is abrupt and does not fit well with what has gone before. More was needed to make this a coherent and, more importantly, an interesting read. For reasons unexplained Mark Twain ended this story savaging Jules Verne. I never read any opinions he had on Verne but would be interested in finding them, should they exist. This story is only worth reading as a curiosity. However, after doing so, one understands why Twain chose to let it languish on the shelf.
