Gave up on it
Read to page 115 and completely lost interest. Not much here to keep you interested. Cop stories are worn so thin. Not a good book for your library.

Not bad, but annoying hero
This book wasn't awful, but not great either. Like another reviewer, I listened to the audio book, and therefore finished it. (Dick Hill's reading improves even the most boring books).

My complaint was the character of the hero. It's hard to care about such a blatantly selfish person. There was no one in this novel to really care about. There was some decent action, though.

Not Daley's best, but still pretty good
This one dwells more on the characters and relationships than most of Daley's work, but is nontheless a good read. It details the nuts and bolts of detective work and political interference in a concise and interesting story. Daley's lead characters are frequently flawed, dislikable people, not unlike many one encounters in real life. It is part of the overall realism which is one of the major strengths of Daley's works.

Don't waste your Money-A Duke MBA
I bought this book to prepare for financial accounting. I do not recommend it, get the "Accounting for Finance" Workbook. This is basic accounting, not very related to actual financial analysis.

A thorough, well-written introduction to accounting
For those of us who don't have an accounting background, but need to have one fast, this book is great. I didn't follow the 36-hour guideline, although I have no doubt that the "course" can be completed in that time. I read it leisurely, an hour here, an hour there, and was able to read the book in two weeks. Each chapter has a distinct lesson, with an "exam" at the end of the chapter (and supplemental exams in the back of the book). The content is well written, with plenty of great examples and definitions of basic terms. I don't have an accounting background, but I needed one, and selected this book as one of many to get myself up to speed. This book was the best of several that I choose, and I do think it did the best job in terms of education. The book can be read straight through, or you can use it as a reference - the contents are segmented in such a way that it's a handy reference guide.

Highly recommended for those people without accounting backgrounds who need one.

MS Reader Version is cumbersome
The content of this book is good, but I recommend against the MS Reader version of this edition. MS reader is very basic--you can only flip forward/backward by page or chapter--basically ok for reading novels. But this version of Pediatrics PSAAR is straight text w/out links to answers, checkboxes for the practice questions, etc. It is frustrating and time consuming to write your answer for a question on paper, flip to the beginning of the next chapter of answers, and flip page-by-page to your specific answer in the answer chapter. You have to do this all over again backwards and then forwards if you want to remind yourself what the question asked or what your answer said. There is also no way to view more than one location in the book at one time. MS Reader is horrible for a Q&A Review format. Waste of money. If they were to come out with a version containing links to answers, weblike forward and back buttons, checkboxes for your answers, a scoring system, and even a palm version, I would go bonkers over it.

Excellent
I used this book to help review for Step 3. As a resident in IM, I really needed a Peds refresher. This book was excellent for the job. It was a tough review, but I think it's a necessary task for the Boards. Allow a few days to cover the book (including time to look up the answers in your Peds reference).

Sloppy editing
Do not buy this book. I adopted it as a text book for a course I am teaching but have found typos in just about every poem I have read in it. Some you can figure out:

"How sweet--while warn airs lull us, blowling lowly"

"Warn" is supposed to be "warm." But others are really confusing:

"Thro' many a women acanthus-wreath divine!"

"Women" is supposed to be "woven." I checked these in the first edition of the Norton Critical--the first edition has the correct lines. I guess Norton just scanned the first edition and put it on the shelves as a second "edition" without even editing it.

Very sloppy work--please don't buy the book. The texts are well selected--it is nice to have The Princess available. And the critical readings are also well chosen. But the texts are hardly readible.

Make your life easier.
3-D adventure games and especially role-playing games tend to be the hardest genre to publish a good accurate guide, but using Prima's Bomberman World guide to help with the game is futile. First of all, there are hardly any secrets and the entire thing is 2-D where anybody could understand the simple, yet sometimes bland objectives. This book was really fun to read just for pleasure, and it wasn't bad at all.

Not recommended
Sorry, but this isn't much of a book. Only 160 pages without the index and other stuff in the back, mostly self-promotion by a few architects of their own projects -- ok, some nice hotels and good color pictures in the middle -- only a little technical information. Other books have much more content, or more pictures of a wider variety of hotels/resorts. Way too expensive for what you get.

Hospitality Facilities
Great Book, I am an architect new to hotel design and I found this book filled with lots of valuable information, especially in chapters 2 & 3 where they discuss some awesome projects. Nice photos and diagrams throughout the book.
