Diagnostic Ultrastructure of Non-Neoplastic Diseases

An essential guide for all diagnostic electron microscopists
I have used this book for over 3 years now and find it an invaluable aid in recognising diagnostic features in the Non-Neoplastic diseases. I feel that one of the most important features of this volume is the use of human case studies. Other volumes tend to show results from animal studies which often may or may not show similar features in human diseases. The textual information is comprehensive and relevant and the lists of references is of great use for further reading. I would recommend this work as an essential volume for any diagnostic EM laboratory.

A triumph
Dr. Henderson's book is an excellent example of modern Classical scholarship. Innovative, clever, witty, it guides its readers through the turbulence of the literature. The translations of various passages were also very good, demonstrating that translation need not be dry, and displaying some of the poetic virtuosity of translators such as Hughes and Day-Lewis. I would recommend this for any student of first century Latin literature in particular.

The Henderson Site Burials: Glimpses of a Late Prehistoric Population in the Pecos Valley (Technical Reports, No 18)

Hard to find
Anyone looking for information on primative burials in the southwest knows how hard this information is to come by. I was glad to see an actual archaeological dig written up so well. The pictures are equally interesting in showing positions of the bodies and possibly the significance of such. Although the dig site is in New Mexico and occupied in the 1300's it was especially interesting to see that in one burial, there was a "cache" of points that were of Texas origin AND from the Archaic time frame. The book also includes tons of charts and graphs for the very serious archaeologists out there.

A lot of practical informaltion about injuries and treatment
The contributors to this book have a lot of practical experience in acturally treating the problems they report. The list of contributors reads like a "who's who" of sports medicine. The suggestions for rehabilitation as well as the description of surgical interventions really gives a well rounded approach. I like this book along with the companion field guride. Topics in the book cover the whole spectrum of nutrition, women athletic conditions, evaluation, physical therapy, surgical interventions, returning to competition after injury, peripheral injuries as well as prevention and treatment of spinal injuries. A really good book for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists and others interested in knowing more about sports related injury and treatment.

Excellent photo's of the Central Railroad of NJ
This book is dedicated to the operations of the Central Railroad of New Jersey before the Aldene plan took place. All of the Photo's are in color and are some of best quality pictures that I've ever seen. The Book has very little text and it covers mostly the railroads operation in New Jersey, and covers in good detail the cities of Jersey City, Bayonne, Elizabeth and even some of the smaller towns of Sewaren, Barber and Perth Amboy. If you are into the CNJ or railroading or even history, then i would recommend this book.

You ought to be ashamed
The Pushcart Prize is the most wonderful and rewarding annual anthology out there because, for one thing, it's the most fair--as Bill Henderson says in his introduction, there's no money here. You don't have to have written a bestseller or be in with the "New Yorker" crowd in order to be published here. All you have to do is be a good writer. Here is fiction and poetry at its rawest and purest form, from writers who write for the sake of writing, for the sheer love of it. This is a noble thing.

Fascinating and brilliant!

This is a fascinating comparative study of the development of commentarial traditions. Henderson -- who is amazingly knowledgeable about the Confucian, Islamic, Jewish, Vedantic and other traditions -- examines how commentators from different cultures employ similar interpretive strategies.

It is a shame that this book is not available in a paperback edition to make it easier to use in courses.

GOD.COM
Whatever your religion - or lack of religion - this is a book that will make you re-think all the religous dogma you've learned from any upbringing or current belief.
The focus of the book is that all organized religions, without exception over centuries, have had many social and politcal agendas - surprisingly enough, common sense morality has never been on the top of the list. For the most part, good words have been followed by bad deeds. For this reason, many of our greatest leaders historicaly have not been proponents of organized religion. They may well have believed in God, but only through their own wisdom, saw through the flaws of organized religion.
God.Com makes you think about this - especially in the context of the current religious turmoil between East and West. Even if you're not "religious", lot's of people are and you need to be aware of the consequences!

A Literate Delight
Regardless of one's religious preferences, or lack of them, this is a book to be enjoyed. Authored by John Henderson, a retired air force colonel and practicing physician, every page is filled with useful and highly literate philosophy presented with gentle wisdom. Heavily sprinkled with quotes from three thousand years of observers of our religious thoughts and practices, Henderson offers readers a new approach to our ideas about Gods, life, and living. This book offends no one, yet educates us all with humor and common sense. One must read it, to understand. It was with great pleasure that I did.

Highly Recommend
I found God.com - A Deity for the New Millennium to be both interesting and thought provoking. The author's use of facts and information, logic, and humor made this a most enjoyable book. Regardless of your beliefs, I would highly recommend reading this book!
