Lots of fun!
Some of these stories made me think about what love means. Others are much more gossipy. Either way, it's a winner.

Dancing with the Beloved
I was moved to write a review on this most unusual and beautiful book. I found this book quite by accident. When I finished reading it, I thought it was the most important book I have ever read. For me, this book was about love, what love means, how we hold love in our hearts, and the depth of love in our souls. The book is interwoven with the most beautiful poetry. I found myself weeping at times, suddenly and unexpectedly. I believe I was weeping because the ideas expressed in this book were consistent with what I have always believed and held to be true, about the meaning of love, God, my spiritual path, and most especially, about my belief in soul-mates. I don't know how Paul Ferrini knew what was in my heart, but he did. I shared this book with my best friend apprehensively, wondering if she would feel as I did. When she finished the book, she told me that she thought it was one of the most important books she had ever read. I was happy to have her agreement, but knew it really would not have mattered how the book touched her. I would still have my own true experience. I read two other books by Paul Ferrini after reading this one. But I have shared about my experience of this book with at least 20 people, since reading it last month. Finding this book was an act of divine intervention, I am convinced.

Function of the Sciences and the Meaning of Man
Published in Paperback by Northwestern University Press (1972)
Authors: Enzo Paci, James Hansen, and Paul Piccone
Amazon base price: $27.00
Used price: $23.00
Average review score:

This book lives up to the promise of its title
The title of Paci's book aims at a very high goal: to situate scientific praxis within a serious endeavor to understand what it means to be human. In my opinion, Paci's accomplishment is remarkable. For anyone with a phenomenological / hermeneutical / humanistic Marxist (etc.) orientation, the book should be both useful and enjoyable. Paci synthesizes Husserl's work and extends it into wide-ranging study of the constructive potentialities of social life under conditions of advanced technology. I will risk summarizing Paci's position as follows: Everything that is, both nature and culture, is merely raw material for creative re-new-al through the cooperative reflection and action of persons living as community of peers -- and we can appropriate the sciences and technology to help realize such a form of life: the unsurpassable project of humanity always surpassing its current conditions through ever deeper self-reflection, aiming at self-accountability and renewal, i.e., genuine *progress* (not what calls itself "progress" but is often, at best, ambivalent, and -- to use one of Paci's own words: self-occluding). A very fine book. We would live in an unimaginably different and better world than in fact we live in, if this book (and, of course, others like it) informed the imagination of the educated public.

The illustrated origins answer book : concise, easy-to-understand facts about the true origin of life, man, and the cosmos

A Creationist's Best Friend
This well organized easy-to-read volume contains a massive amount of information detailing why the standard evolutionary theories simply do not fit the physical evidence in the universe in general and on earth specifically.. You do not have to be a scientist to understand the scientific principles such as biogenesis, entropy, probabilities and many more which are examined and explained in this book. Darwin believed in the years following his "Origins of Species", that evidence of his theories would be forthcoming. Almost 140 years and a quarter of billion fossils later, we still have no evidence of either macro or micro-evolution. All groups and species appear suddenly with NO transitional forms found. Taylor explains why evolution is not the answer to man's origins, and even uses quotes and information from evolutionary proponents that contradict their own conclusions! This is a masterful volume for creationists who need ready, understandable, yet scientific ammunition to prove that their ancenstors were not swinging in the trees four million years ago

INTELLECTUALLY LUCID
This tour de force historical perspective of nature leads the reader into a provocative search for understanding the human role on Earth. Not for the narrow-minded and/or Jerry Falwell.
