Old, but still good!
This is a sourcebook for Werewolf: the Apocalypse, 1st edition. As such, many of the rules are a bit out of date. However, the source material stands up very well.

"Rage Across New York" provides everything you'll need to run a campaign set in NY state, with caerns for your characters to defend, figures for them to interact with, and an evil organization to combat. Though the Seventh Generation (the aforementioned 'evil organization') has been destroyed in the Revised version of the Werewolf setting, there's no reason you can't use them in your own chronicle, or use this information to start a campaign around the remnants of this evil faction.

Overall, "Rage Across New York" is perfect for any Storyteller who needs a setting with lots of potential conflict, intrigue and detail. Definately worth picking up... if you can find a copy...

How the tribe should be done
Do you think the Children are misfits to Garou society? Not after this book. With a rich discussion of the history of the tribe, with nice gifts and excellent examples of Child characters, especially an Ahroun one, this is the Child tribebook to get. If you are thinking of running a Child, after reading this tribebook, you will want to. just be sure to avoid the newer Child tribebook; it does not compare to this one.

No New Information
This book is quite simply two books pasted together. If you don't have either book, its a great value. But, if you have one of them and think that there are some updates in this version, you're mistaken. Even though WW makes references to this effect in other books (calling it a "replacement" for Elysium), it's not technically true: they're the same book.

Pediatrics vs. Geriatrics in the World of Darkness
War of Ages, a reprint of the Anarchs Cookbook and Elysium, provides source material and background information on the two extremes in the world of kindred. While they both retain the look and feel of the older, first edition books, the information within is still just as valid for the setting as when they were first published several years back. Elysium, the elders half of the book, provides rules for creating elders (including new elder-specific backgrounds, merits and flaws), ideas on plotlines for elders games, secret "Gehenna Cults", and tips on how to run a chronicle that lasts for centuries. The anarch cookbook contains all sorts of background and storyline information for ST's and players that want to indulge in the wilder side of being a cainite, All in all, a great book, and a great way to get two old out-of-print sourcebooks.

Oh! the Temptation!
Tempted by super-vamipres, when I got around to running an Elysium game it was a total disaster. I would suggest this book only to those serious roleplayers who can create monstrously powerful characters and not get into a single barfight with them. You really need to know your stuff to make this one work!

Kindred High Societ
Elysium describes the society of Elder Kindred, with all their philosophy, their intrigues, their squabbles and their struggles for power. It contains new backgrounds, merits&flaws and Gehenna cults. It is well written and provides details about daily life in a Camarilla city (though everything happens behind closed doors). The book claims that every Elder behaves like that, what I guess can't be true. Like in mortal society most people don't want the trouble a leadership brings. And after centuries of "Salon"-affairs Elders could get bored by kindred politics as well. Unlike Sigmund Freud mentioned, not every son wants to kill his father, likewise not every childe wants the final death of her sire. Apart from that, Elysium offers many good facts about vampire high society.

But again, there is absolutely no conjunction between age and generation! On the first pages Elysium even claims that older vampires have a younger appearance, what sounds completely nonsense.

Can you say Methuselah?
Ever wanted to play a Vampires campaign at a "slightly higher" level of power? Or are you just a power gamer? Either way, you'll love this book. It's got rule for creating Vampire characters that are hundreds of years old, and that have all the power that conveys (and all of the problems too. There's nothing like having your arch-enemy be in control of military forces equal to a small country. Oh well, such is the price of power). It's also very useful for GM's creating mentors, Princes, sires, or anyone else that's just damn powerful

Lacks depth
Whereas I am always greateful when new Holmes stories are released, particularly in anthology form, and as long as they do not deal with utterly bizarre places or events, I found that these stories were rather lack-luster. Within the first three days I had the book, I read through five pieces, none of which were as remarkable as I hoped they would be. The usual contributors are here, and one can usually expect outstanding entries by Loren D. Estleman and Edward B. Hoch, but here their stories are as flat as the rest. Hopefully in their next effort, the writers will write more engaging tales.

Nice Book....
But not the best in the TMNT Series of RPG books. It has some useful stuff for the TMNT and Other Strangeness world, but all in all, unless you are a hardcore TMNT gamer I would not recomend this particular book unless you own the rest of the series. But then again, now that the line is out of print it might become a nice collectors item.

Slim pickings again
I went ahead and invested in this follow-up to last year's "Murder in Baker Street", hoping that the stories would be better. Well, they weren't. The tales are just flat and unexciting. What happened to the good stories some of these authors used to contribute to previous anthologies? Out of this batch, maybe two are worth reading. Other than that, I would recommend saving $$ and renting it from the library.
