Since I was a child
I'm 34 years old. This book was given to me when I was 8. It served as the backstop against all of the angst, fear, anger and confusion of pre-pubescent existence. When "bobby" threw a rock at me, I turned to this book. When "jenny" didn't return my affection, I turned to this book. When "Joey" violated my trust, I turned to this book. Nothing can bridge the gap between the teachings of Jesus and the adolocent existence. My dear people, if you do anything for you youth, do buy this book. Give it to them. And let them use it as they will - with God's help. Surely, you will benefit.

Engage Your Children During Family Devotions
This is a wonderful tool for parents who are trying to find a way to reach their children during family devotions. Each story begins with a theme Bible verse, and then presents a story involving children and their parents related to the Bible passage. Afterward, there is a series of questions so that you can discuss the story with your children. For older children there is an extended Bible reading listed. Finally there is a concluding prayer.

Not only will this help involve your children in family devotions, but the questions also help to develop listening skills. These benefits flow into church on Sunday morning. I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to involve their children in family devotions.

Little visits and More little visits with God
When my boys were young and My wife and I were newly born Christians, we purchased these two books. They were loved by our children more than anything else we provided for their Christian growth. Those two books have since disappeared from my library and I am so glad to have found one and I will keep looking for the other. I want them for my Grandchildren and friends. I want them for myself as well! I have never found another pair of books with a short story and devotional thought for each day that fits in so well with a childs everyday living and learning experience. Everyone can relate to each story. Excellent.

Love Once in Passing

Well written---A fantastic Adventure
No matter what you think about time travel, or so many other unexplained phenomena, readers are always intrigued by irrational things that could happen--like human loving vampires, or helpful ghosts, or people slipping from one time frame into another.

Organized religion asks you to do that on a regular basis by requesting you to believe in an unproven god. I don't want to offend religious believers here, but I would ask that if you can believe in an unmet God, why can't you believe that other unidentified phenonoma can occur?

Gods were created by humans because of the things they did not understand in ancient times--lightning, changes in climate, natural catastrophes like earthquakes and floods, droughts and famines. And for thousands of years they had no knowledge to explain these natural phenomena.

This book is an attempt at saying that the conceived impossible MIGHT be possible.

beautiful love story
Christopher Dunlap, the ninth Earl of Westerham is a very wealthy and respected member of polite society in 1812 Regency, England. He has a town house in London but his love for the land allows him to spend much of his time seeing to his country estate. One night he is riding his horse from London to his country estate when he simply appears in a car in 1981 Eastport, Connecticut.

Jessica Lund is shocked and very afraid when the handsome man in Regency clothes suddenly appears in her car. It takes her awhile to believe he is a Regency traveler who has journeyed through time. Once she comes to accept he's not crazy, she takes him into her house and eases him into the ways of the twentieth century. They fall in love and give into their passion but in the back of their minds they are always wondering if Christopher will be returned to his own time.

This reviewer read LOVE ONCE IN PASSING when it first came out and thought it was a beautiful love story twenty-one years ago and after rereading Jo Ann Simon's time travel today the novel remains a fantastic reading experience. The characters are timeless and somehow believable and the reader hopes they get the happily ever after they so desperately want. To find out the answers to that question, the audience will want to read LOVE ONCE AGAIN coming next month.

Poetry Under Oath: From the Testimony of William Jefferson Clinton and Monica S. Lewinsky

Excellent!
Only in America could someone make money with something like this (and unlike a liberal I mean that in a postive way!)I'm sure Monica and Bill would sue for a percentage of the profits, but it would mean acknowledging their words . . . and the acts that went with them.

Shakespeare, eat your heart out!!!
With verse such as this, I can throw away all my Ezra Pound. More rhyming would have been welcomed, however.

Also, I think it is important to thank the publisher for printing the book in such a small format. Much easier to hold with one hand.

awesome
Can making money really be this easy? Why do I work 5 days a week? Either this author is a genius in the uniquely American fashion, or a complete burnout with too much time and dope on his hands.

Puppetry of the Penis: The Ancient Australian Art of Genital Origami
Published in Paperback by Transworld Publishers Ltd (05 November, 2001)
Author: Simon Morley
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Hysterically funny
This book is just the thing to bring a little genital excitement into your dull, drab, wretched life. It proves beyond a shadow of a foreskin that it is a phallacy that the penis can't be funny. The authors' hilarious exhibit of penis performance art is guaranteed to drive all your inadequacies away. My favorite is the puppet with the pop-up feature. This is one of the funniest and most entertaining books I've ever seen. I'd love to see the show if it ever comes around to my obscure and vanishing corner of America's sexual landscape.

Challenging
While detailed and imaginative, "Puppetry of the Penis: The Ancient Australian Art of Genital Origami", is only the tip of Simon Morley and David Friend's fascinating show of penis-art. This book explores the many different shapes and positions the penis can be temporarily molded into. And thank you Morley and Friend, for rising to the occasion, and putting your penis-art in a book, for the world to see.

Many of these penis-puppets are hard to accomplish without lots of practice. The "Hamburger", "Hot Dog and a Bun", and the "Loch Ness Monster" are among the more challenging puppets to create, but you'll have plenty of fun trying.

Don't be ashamed to take matters into your own hands, and buy "Puppetry of the Penis", today!

Oh my goodness I'll never leave the house again
Well what can I say about this fabulous book. Before I read this book my life was dull, imcomplete but through this book I discovered that my penis was not an inanimate peice of flesh just hanging there in between my legs but a instument of pleaseure that I can share with many people through the magic of puppetry! It is no longer the dull slip of skin that was but an all singing ,all dancing Marionette of mirth!
I've already been putting on puppet shows for all my friends and family and so far they have been delighted.I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyman everywhere.

Useful Book for Children
My five-year-old is having a bit of difficulty with two children at his daycare. I have purchased several adult books on how to help a child deal with bullies/teasing, but hadn't been successful in finding a good children's book. Then I found "Simon's Hook". Through funny pictures and dialogue, the book has given my son five sensible practical approaches on how to deal with difficult peers. I highly recommend this book.

an incredible catch
I have no children of my own, but I love children and am very close to my small nieces and nephews. How I wish this book had been available for me as a small, intimidated and shy child! I have purchased several copies for my relatives and constantly recommend it to my friends with small children and grandchildren. I keep a hardcopy for review from friends and they love it! Will there be more adventures for Simon!

GREAT STORY AND EDUCATIONAL TOO!
Simon's Hook - A Story About Teases and Put-Downs is a great book for any child. BUT it is also a teaching tool with a highly original story and wonderful images. Children learn several ways to deal with teasing - from ignoring the teaser to changing the subject to avoiding situations, etc. (We don't want to give away the whole story). And the story is so good that children will pick it up again-and-again just to read - yet we know they are learning how to cope with teasing at the same time! Simon's Hook is a great addition to any family, school or library. From The Science Spiders Newsletter.

Simon's Coming to America is Ideal Book for Young Readers.
Simon, by author Laura Sheerin Gaus, is a great selection for classroom teachers who are interested in combining historic events with exciting reading for their 9-12 year old students. The story is based on an actual event of the author's grandfather. While it provides the reader an enjoyable trip into the past as Simon comes to America in 1849, it has a completely different education value since the O'Shea family comes, not through Ellis Island, but New Orleans. Students will relate to Simon and the new and different life he finds in America. They, along with Simon, will discover the horrors of slavery, the challenges of living in a new world, the excitement of a new trade, and the difficult decision that Simon must make; a decision which will change his life and that of his family forever. As a fourth grade teacher I loved the book and feel it would serve as a wonderful reading tradebook for 4th, 5th, 6th, and even older students in the classroom. It's no surprise that as teachers discover this book, they are making it part of their classroom collection.

A Springboard for Discussion
SIMON is a most enjoyable book that provided the topic for an interesting and spirited discussion among three generations in our family. It began with giving the book to our grandchildren for their birthdays and ended with the kids, their parents and grandparents spending a great deal of time together talking about Simon's decision and subsequent action, exchanging views on the subject and actually listening to each other. What an unexpected and joyous bonus to receive from what is already a really terrific book. Mrs. Gaus truly rates FIVE STARS for SIMON!

Simon
Simon was packed with intresting things to learn. Every page was a learning experiance and it had a lot of detail. Everybody I mean everybody should read this book. If you are tired of reading dumb books about boys and girls kissing, read Simon. If you don't like Simon you are a psycopath. You're missing out on so much.

St. Simons Island: A Summary of Its History

Average review score:

Excellent writing, and artistry.
A superior book! The author presents the history of this island in a glorious fashion. The artist is superb. Recommended reading for everyone.

This book is a must-read for all MANKIND (humankind?)
Mr. Green makes history enjoyable, even to those who may have originally thought that they didn't like history. Upon reading this book one quickly realizes that history is indeed alive with intrigue and heart-ache. Join the ranks of those who have read and been changed by this book

A first-rate history of a beautiful place
The typical visitor to St. Simons Island heads straight to the beach. But the vacationer's stay would be greatly enhanced by a quick detour to the local bookstore to buy a copy of this excellent book, which makes for easy beach reading. Mr. Green has made history come alive by highlighting the lifestyle of the island's pre-Civil War residents and by portraying its surprising significance to John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church. Mary Green's illustrations enrich the text by portraying both the beauty of the island and the strength of character of its early residents. The net result of the "Green team's" efforts make those who come to the island realize that it is more than just a pretty place

Introduction to Group Therapy: A Practical Guide (Advances in Psychology and Mental Health)
Published in Paperback by Haworth Press (2003)
Author: Scott Simon Fehr
Amazon base price: $34.95
Average review score:

Clarity where clarity is sorely needed.
Every once in awhile, a book comes along in our field that sheds new light on an important topic in a clear, understandable manner without diluting the information. Dr. Fehr's practical guide to group is one such example. He has provided something for everyone, from the beginning group therapist to the experienced clinician. His real life vignettes highlight technical aspects of conducting group therapy, provide the reader with often poignant, sometimes funny, and highly illustrative examples of various group phenomena, and bring to life what too often in our field is dryly presented. Dr. Fehr's communiction style challenges us, makes us laugh, take pause, reflect, and ultimately come away feeling revitalized in our work with groups. His review of the history of group therapy is the most compelling I have ever read. A must read for graduate students and senior group therapists alike.

As a patient, reading it has made me understand it better.
I have been a participent in the Group Therapy process for a long time. It has been both a painful and rewarding combination of experiences. Braving the expressed feelings of Group Members in response to my verbal output has opened me up to different options in facing my demons.

This book has made me feel that I understand my sleepless nights and difficult thoughts and put them in context so that I feel even more rewarded for not only having been part of it but for continuing this learning experience into the present.

A wonderful introduction to Group Psychotherapy!
Dr. Fher's years of clinical and life experience plus his ability to sift through the complex and make sense of it is truly unique. This text is full of clear, relevant information for anyone who is curious at all about Group Psychotherapy. Students, practioners, group members, and referral agencies will benefit from accessing this compact resource. Dr. Fehr's sharing of his own experiences adds life and humor to material which sometimes can be dense. I highly recommend this text to any institute, training program, or practioners' important reference materials.

An Honest Review
Have you ever looked at your parent's book collection? Notice how they tend to pick up books by the same author, time and time again. I can say that after reading the first 8 chapters of Building Rich Internet Applications that I will be looking for more titles from both of these authors.

First of all the title of this book is a little misleading,
because it delivers A LOT more than just information and hands on demonstrations for building RIA w/MX.

Other things you'll learn
- Object-oriented programming concepts and practice.
- Proper coding syntax for writing actionscript.
- How to use actionscript to create a user interface with flash.
- How to write ColdFusion components that allow Flash to access databases via Flash Remoting.

These are just a few things I have picked up on after reading about half of the book. You will also learn how to put together a nice workflow process for a dynamic site from the database to the UI. There is also a great website that goes with the book where you'll ACTUALLY get to communicate with the authors directly.

That's all for now... After I finish the book I'll have to come back and let you know how the rest of it went. I recommend this book for anyone at any skill level who has an interest in extending Flash to it's full capabilities.

Complex Topics, Easy to Follow
In this their latest book, Reinhardt and Allardice have written a wonderfully comprehensive, easily understandable explanation of the numerous new technologies (Flash Communication Server, Flash Remoting) with which Macromedia is radically changing the Web. Their thorough explanations satisfy both the needs of the newbie, and the desires of the expert. I am highly recommending this book for consumption by all of my University students.

The Definitive RIA Companion
Everything I need for building RIAs all under one cover. I highly recommend this book. The explanations in the book are thorough, lucid and well-written. I expect nothing less from these two writers.
