Show and Tell
This was my first introduction to Robert Fulghum and meeting this humorous man was truely enjoyable. Like many personal accounts on life, there were things that he writes about I found touched me deeply and others that were just interesting. It was a pleasure to take a peek into his world of "show and tell" and compare it to my own. Robert Fulghum's perspective is healthy and positive and he even redeems himself with the dog population in the credits at the back of the book. His humor added a dimension to some of his tales that made them truely memorable "lessons of life." A book to make you laugh and cry.
i was 14 when i read it and now i want it back
i really liked this book a lot when i found this book at a second hand store the girl that worked there made such big deal about that every one looked at me like i was weird or something i was like "yeah hes a really good writter" even my mom was like is he really good i said i think so.... so 4 years later am like am going to get me every book i read by Robert Fulghum
It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It
With great wit and gentle grace, Robert Fulgham holds up a mirror so that we may see ourselves and our foiables more clearly. He has a unique ability to point out the treasure of the little things, the common things in life. After reading one of his books, I feel more serene, more appreciative of my blessings, and smile at the memories he has helped me recall. If you have not been "stopping to smell the roses" this book will help you start. Enjoy!

Cover should read, "Childish thoughts on useless ideas."
Hello, I want to speak to the middle American audience of morons that the author of the Kindergarten book was obviously appealing to. Quite simply, this book is aimed at childish, uneducated saps. I don't know how else to put it. After reading about 6 or 7 of these "uncommon thoughts on common things," I couldn't take it any more. The writing reminds me of some reflective journal work I did in seventh grade. Even that gives too much credit to the book. Basically, the author took a multitude of ideas and wrote about 2 pages on them. If you think this is enough to provide any insightful information on the chosen topic, you are wrong. Also, the author thinks he has a sense of humor. Let's just say that he isn't. The writing is childish (I honestly wonder how many people had to help him out on this one) and the thoughts are DUMB. Let me wrap up the book for you: Communists are people too, and deaf mutes deserve our pity! NO JOKE. Jesus did you like the part where he describes the 500 uses of a dandelion!? DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
Another view
This should be required reading for many adults. It seems in todays society, impatience and intolerance have become virtues. Basic manners and respect for others is a concept lost on too many of our youth. So, in counterpoint to the previous negative review, I strongly recommend "Everything...." to anyone wanting to raise a well balanced, tolerant (and tolerable) child.
This book was quite refreshing in our mundane society.
After reading all Robert Fulghum books, I found the "Everything I needed to know...." book is his best. I think we sometimes forget in our hustle and bustle lives how much we really learn about ourselves and society when we are children. We also find out as children (usually) there's no such thing as a free lunch. How openly Mr. Fulghum reminds us of all this.

Save your money!
There are many great books on marriage out there. This is not one of them.
Insightful
I'd recommend this book because it gives helpful ideas for a Christian marrage. Books like these are difficult to find. I think it's a great reference for any marriage.
