"Never Guilty, Never Free" is one long continuous self-pitying whine. But if you read carefully between the lines, you will see that it masks a lot of rather suspicious things about Ms. Foat's character. Over and over again, we see how she uses people outrageously. For example, even at the age of 14, she was proudly manipulating boys to get her into more socially acceptable circles than her lower working class roots allowed. It is also amusing to watch her desperately try to cover up her unsavory past. A really funny example was how she denied most loudly and angrily the charge that she was a go-go dancer in New Orleans. But methinks she doth protest too much, as another author once said! The account of her marriage to the unfortunate Mr. Foat is another example of how she made an alliance just to further her own gains. The writing in this book is pretty bad, and the poems she wrote in prison gave me the hives.

A 1 star rating is much too high for "Never Guilty, Never Free." If only Amazon.com would provide a zero rating, then we'd have an adequate rating for this book.
