Lots of pretty pictures, little information
A pretty book with lots of full-color illustrations throughout, but not nearly as much information as the books by Anitra Frazier, Celeste Yarnall, Richard Pitcairn, or Diane Stein. Get one of those instead of this.

Thanks God for the Natural cat care!!!!
Very handy information on using herbs to cure for my cat!!!
At the begining the author explain Nautral development of the cats, a small part of training following...then is the Nutrition, Health Care, Touch and Movement Therapies and how to use Herbal Therapies on them....., a big part on using herbs for Health Disorders for every subject...which herbs is poisioning are included.
That is not the same to Use herb on Human and Animals. Even not the Same between Cats and Dogs!!! Beware on using herbs on them!!!

Very informative, with easy format
The best thing about this book is the pictures, but I have to say right off that your child might find some pictures a little disturbing. My son was really worried about the cat having an acupuncture treatment.

That said, it was a very helpful book. We just adopted a stray and now she's having kittens. I really wanted some insight into cat behavior and cat care. A lot of the alternative treatments described in here seem a little far-fetched. I think they could help humans, but I'm not taking my cat in to the chiropractor. That said, if YOU would take your cat to the chirorpractor, this book would be very helpful. It also covers basics like house training, nutrition, and health disorders. The book is divided into sections and colorcoded for each one. It's very easy to follow and understand.

Great book for cat owners;, however if the alternative treatments are not something you'd pursue, you may just want to check it out from the library like I did.

nothing spectacular
I gained very little from reading this book. I'm sure it has helped others, but the solutions I tried weren't helpful in my dog's situation. I've had much better luck with other authors, specifically Sarah Hodgson.

Good book, but there is better.
This book gives some good training advice. For many problems, the author says to see a professional dog behaviorist. My dog was showing signs of mild aggression, and this book was not much help for my situation.

"Good Owners, Great Dogs" by Brian Kilcommons and Sara Wilson addresses more problems and gives solutions that work.

An excellent, informative & humane dog training guide!
The Toolbox for Remodeling Your Problem Dog is fun, reader-friendly, and is packed full of great information! Despite the book's title, your dog doesn't have to be a problem to benefit greatly from the training suggestions in this book. It also contains a wealth of behaviorial info and creative solutions rarely found in most other dog training books. Excellent for both puppies and mature dogs. I highly recommend it!

A good book
I liked most of this book. I have a male chocolate lab and wanted to know more about the breed. It covered every area from showing, to the breed standard to lab behaviors. The only subject I was dissapointed about was the lack of information on breeding a male labrador. I wanted to know more about the basic steps to take when breeding my male lab with a female. For example, when can I breed him? How do I get the word out that I have a male labrador to breed? If you're an owner of a female labrador, this book covered those areas. However, there were only a few lines on breeding a male.

Essential Dog Book
If you're considering a purebred dog, make sure you check out these books by Dr. Bruce Fogle. They're full of up to date info and colour photos. The profile on the Labrador Retriever features information on general care, feeding, training, grooming, and exercise.

An Informational Labrador Book
This book is very helpful when it comes to learning about and understanding this intelligent breed. This book covers the following subjects: Puppy Care, Adult Care, Feeding and Food, Grooming, Health, Breeding, Showing, the Working Dog, and a special chapter called "The Dog For You", which introduces you to the Labrador breed. I recommend this book to anyone who is considering or already owns a Lab.

Common Knowledge
I've been thinking about getting a dog so after reading a few reviews about this book, I decided to get it. I've read a few books by Dr. Bruce Fogle and they're all been pretty helpful, except this one. I've never owned a dog but I found the information in this book to be fairly common knowledge. I'd think that most people would know when a dog is angry and when it's happy. This is not a training or breed specific book, but it will teach you the meaning of every doggy mood and action.

Learn A New Language
If you want to understand more about your dog and the way it communicates through body language than this is the excellent book. It is hard to find a book with such excellent photographys. Even though this book does not go into detail to explain how dogs communicate, but does give plenty examples of different behaviours, such as aggression, seeking attention, mating and so on. For first time dog owners, it will allow you to look at your dog differently and those that have had dogs, this book will answer questions of why your dog does the things it does.

Good book for a dog lover
This book is very good the pictures are great and for someone that would like to know a little more about dog body language this would be a great book to have. or if you don't understand your dogs behaviour with other dogs this book may help you.

Was NOT Impressed!
I was really not impressed with this book at all. I just got a new puppy and was eager to read it. It was VERY short, and I felt as if I was in third grade again, i.e. the book DOES tell you about howling. It says to leave the dog with a favorite treat, or something that you have rubbed on your hands. GIVE ME A BREAK! If you like short books (I read it in 15 minutes) than this is the book for you. I would only recommend getting this if you have another book to accompany it. The price was right and I keep it for a quick reference...

Wonderful Quick Reference
This small, well-illustrated and attractive book is a great quick-reference guide to training your dog or puppy. I found this book to be wonderful to have on hand for children and 1st-time dog owners. It is not particularly for the "old pro" at dog raising, but I still found it useful. It is especially great to give to the spouse who doesn't think having a puppy a good idea (and who won't take the time to read a more involved book), or to the child who is eager to raise your dog but doesn't have the first idea how to go about it. As in ALL DK books, WELL DONE!

Great Book for First Time Puppy Owners.
I bought this book when I got my first Puppy and it is great tool to help a new owner through the first few months of housebreaking and training. Very readable and to the point. Great value too- a lot of book for your buck!

A great big help! For new owners or veteren owners alike!
This book was very helpful as a guide to owning a Cocker. I recommend it highly and hope you learn as much as I did about this breed. Very gorgeous pictures and very informative and descriptive!

Superb quick reference
For all its slim 80 pages, this is an excellent reference book. In particular it so graphically illustrates the differences between the American and English Cockers, that anyone in doubt of their own dogs lineage, would not go wrong consulting this book.

Colour photography is used throughout and all salient points are accompanied by appropriate photography or diagrams.

It might be a small book, but it seems to cover a great deal.

for your teenager's first dog
Because I've read dozens of dog books by now, I'm pretty fussy about them. I want them to have fresh new insights to solving problems I've found unsolvable. For that, this is not a suitable book.

On the other hand, it is an EXCELLENT starter book, written in a simple and very readable style. This is the book I would choose to give a teenager who is starting out with a new dog. The questions are posed from the canine point of view with charming results. Here's one of my favorites:

"I enjoyed watching television when I lived in Europe, but now that I have moved to America, all I see is a blur. What has happened to my eyes?"

Fogle goes on to explain that European television transmission is higher speed than in the US. American transmission is slow enough that all dogs see is dots. This will be cured when high-definition TV becomes more popular in the US. (Learn something new every day....)

Definitely not easy on the eyes...
Basically good information included, but the format was difficult to follow, and the type so small it was really hard to read.

Great guide for first time dog owners.
This book successfully guided my husband and I, first time dog owners, through all stages of adding a dog to our family. It offers advice on how to solve every problem we faced, and solved them conclusively. We found it indispensable. Although we had up to 7 dog training books that we had bought or taken out from the library, this was the one we always found the most helpful.

Great Book
This book is the best book on dog training I've seen sofar. The directions are clear, with very good pictures. The method is very dog and owner friendly. The introduction is very good, the explanations and the tips are very helpful. This is a great book, and I have recommended it to a couple of friends.
