This book has Terry Bradshaw's Public Trademark self-depreciating humor. It tells the reader Basic Stuff and platitudes to live by - focus on the positive, etc. etc. No deep Zen here. I enjoyed it for awhile - but something became more and more amiss. To mix football metaphors, he kept piling on the dead ball fouls until my patience clock ran out. Terry whines about his 3/3 marriages and divorces. Hey! Game over! Get on with it! An especially long and vitriolic rant is rained upon Divorce Lawyers. It becomes evident that what we have here is a misogynist attempting to hide under pseudo-humor. The guy whines for a June Cleaver Stepford Wife who just happens to be SI Swimsuit Issue cover-girl material. Pass this one.

If you like Terry Bradshaw, you'll love this book. It's as though he is spekaing to you directly with litle or no editing to make it read like a novel. It's a quick entertaining book with a lot of humor and common sense. It's worth the read.

Wow! This is an amazing book! As soon as I finished it, I started it again. Every human being needs to read this. It doesn't matter if you are a football fan or not, there is valuable information here that will make you a better person for having read. The man has an awesome sense of humor, and has lead a very exciting life. There is so much to him! His book the year before, "It's Only A Game" is also excellent reading. I can not think of any type of person who would not benefit from the words of wisdom contained within this book. Furthermore, this will do away with any misguided notions relating to his lack of intelligence. You are reading it here people - the man is brilliant. Check it out and see if I'm not right on this!

I have the feeling that Mr. Luciano was running out of ideas with this book. The only reason to read this book is for the inside accounts from the average players that the author enlists to fill out this book. This book is okay, if you are looking for a quick, light read.

THIS IS THE THIRD BOOK BY MR. LUCIANO. IT ALSO IS HIS WORSE. HIS ATTEMPT AT HUMOR IS VERY WANTING. I ENJOYED THE STORIES BY THE VARIOUS PLAYERS. THAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS BOOK. IT CERTAINLY HAS THE RIGHT TITLE, FALL OF THE ETC ETC DOES DESCRIBE THIS VERY BORING AND DULL BOOK. HIS FIRST 2 BOOKS ARE A LOT BETTER THAN THIS TIME FILLER.

The Fall of the Roman Empire is a great baseball book and I recommend it to any baseball fan

This is another guide written in the same sort of format as Lets Go and Lonely Planet. It is a lot thicker than the Lets Go version and believe me, weight and space are important when lugging the thing around a whole continent. Let's Go also has a fair bit more information than Rough Guide in fewer pages. I also don't like the paper the pages are made of in this book as it's not a nice texture, is very thin and the pages stick together when the book's been inside a hot backpack and just don't feel nice turning the pages when it's a bit humid. Rough Guide is also rather opinionated on everything from each hostel to local information booth staff friendliness. I must say I do agree with some comments but a lot I never had the same experiences. That's the thing about travelling one person can have a great experience with a tourism operator and the next not so good. It depends who else is on the tour, in the room, which staff member you get and so on. If this was a constantly updated website that encourages feedback and changed the information regularly than I would see a place for it but not in a guide book. If you follow the author's opinion you'll miss out on some great experiences and even the places he recommends you may still have a bad time at. That's just the way tourism is. I'd recommend Lets Go over this for backpacking around Australia.

This book was a lifesaver for us on our three week vacation to Australia. The maps within it were fantastic especially on our four day drive up the coast. It was very helpful with regard to accommodation, and finding tourist information offices. We didn't leave our room without it on any day of our trip.

Entertaining in parts. Unfortunately somewhat disjointed and becomes rather boring towards the end. Does provide an insight into The Tonight Show and Johnny Carson. Most of the references to incidents on the show seem to come from the Video tape set- The Johnny Carson Collection" (which I highly recommend). Have also read "I'll Be Right Back" - by Mike Douglas. A much more entertaining and informative book about talk shows. I don't suppose that there is much chance of Johnny Carson writing a biography because he likes to keep his privacy. It would undoubtedly be a best seller.

to enjoy this book, you will need soft light, smoking jacket, cohiba, and a stiff glass of bourbon. to delve into the topic of ed mcmahon it takes that kind of mindset. johnny carson's riveting forward captures the whole essence of the "hiyo," years. ed then takes us on a whirlwind tour of late nights of enebriation and carousing. shows spent drunk with johnny, burt reynolds and dom deluise are also brought to life so vividly by mcmahon you swear you could smell the vermouth and brut 33. ed also triumphantly portrays what it was like for him at the culmination of his life's work when timothy blakesley became the first winner of the american family sweepstakes. the question of whom did he prefer: johnny or dick is explored in an honest disection by the author. by this point your not quite sure of anything because you will be on your sixth bourbon and the cigar you were smoking has caught your smoking jacket on fire. i give four stars just on entertainment value alone. HIYO!!!

Joey the Hitman started out with much potential, but as the book went on it became repetitive and boring. The only parts I liked was when he told about his own experiences, rather than how the schemes that organized crime use work.

Aside from that the book didn't tell me anything I haven't already read about the 'mafia'. At the time of its release it was probably very informative, but not these days. The worst part of his style is how he would explain how a particular aspect works, then explain it the exact same way in an example only adding names. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

This was a very fun introduction to the world of the mafia. It is light hearted and is very insightful. I am not sure if Joey exists but some of the facts standing up. Like the 'meat hook kill' I have heard other sources report on this and also it tells you a lot about the various strains of the mob business. So if you have a keen interest in the Italian mafia or just organised crime check this book out you will not be disappointed!

I'm not sure if "Joey" is a real guy or what, but the book was quite entertaining regardless. It details the life of a mafia hit-man. Each chapter tends to deal with a differnt aspect of the mafia and how they impacted his life. I found it an enjoyable read, and would recommend it to someone with interst in the mafia.

I admit that the show is rather enjoyable, or at least was with Regis, but the book left me a little wanting. Bear in mind that it is a typical quiz book with questions and answers in the appendix. It could be fun for an organizational party or something, but just sitting down and reading it is a little absurd. There's not all that much trivia to cover, and moreoever, its got very little re-readability.

This book generally contains fascinating tidbits about the most popular game show on television today. However, it did not include as many trivia questions as I assumed there would be. Some questions are at an easy level while others are more difficult, similar to those that actual contestants answer on the game show. Unfortunately, the questions fail to cover a broad range of topics. I agree that too many trivia questions focus around the media, even television shows that I never even saw. But if you enjoy the show, then this makes a good collector's item. YOu'll have a more enjoyable time answering the questions that appear on the show instead of the ones in this book.

The book of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is rather well done and worth buying. The authors put in a good mix of both simple and challenging questions, and the book has an organized and easy to read layout. I liked the fact that the answers are in the back, and that the lifelines are located so that a reader doesn't immediately flip to the page with the answers.

In addition, the beginning of the book has interesting facts about the game show, including its development and how the show is run. It was a great idea to put the history of the show into the book, and this portion certainly made the book more enjoyable.

"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is a very pleasant book, and if you finish answering all the questions, there's always the online game at abc.com for you to try. Either way, both the online game and the book are entertaining enough to make you feel like you've won a million bucks.

This is one of the hardest reviews I've written because I honestly wasn't sure when I finished this book if half of what I had just read was true or said merely for revenge. While the story of Eddie Fisher's career is interesting there is so much malicious gossip that it detracts from the basic story.
Starting as a talented child and then through a very up and down career Mr. Fisher never had any doubts about his abilities professionally. Through his version of his marriages to Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, Connie Stevens and so forth we get all the dirt that we ever wanted to hear and then some. While I like a good "Hollywood" biography as much as the next person I've never read one that gave me so many details on people that I really didn't WANT to hear. Sometimes petty, sometimes shocking and frequently doubtful there's a lot of stuff in this book that really could and should have been left unsaid. A strong proponent of freedom of speech I also believe that much of what Mr. Fisher had to say was simply unkind and people who have since died like Montgomery Clift and Roddy McDowell are no longer able to defend themselves and to deny what is printed about themselves.

Although he never had any doubts about his singing ability Mr. Fisher is also quite self-effacing about his shortcomings as a husband, father and speaks openly about his addictions. What is probably the best aspect of the book is when the reader realizes how much Eddie Fisher has learned along his journey.

I wish him peace but I wish he didn't have to be so just plain mean in this version of his life.

This was an interesting enough book. I felt like Eddie Fisher didn't really become sleezy until after Elizabeth Taylor dumped him. They say if you see a really screwed up guy, a girl/woman did it. Well, there you go. Of course, I'm no authority on Eddie Fisher. He was before my time. I knew him as Carrie Fisher's father. I felt sorry for Debbie Reynolds and how he runs her down in the book. Since she is the mother of his children, it wasn't very classy of him.

If you want to read a good gossipy Hollywood book, read this. Ann Margret, Bing Crosby, no one is spared.

First, I couldn't put the book down. It was a fascinating read. One thing I have to correct here and that is Eddie's opinion that he was bigger than Elvis. Eddie - NOBODY except God is bigger than Elvis. Eddie Fisher, according to what he reveals in his memoir, was his own worst enemy. Yes, he bedded many beautiful and famous women, but the business decisions he made were atrocious! Ye gads! this man never learned his lesson! His drug addiction was his downfall and of course, his marriage to Liz Taylor didn't help either. But, I do understand how he felt about Liz. When you fall hopelessly in love with someone and they end up cutting your heart out, you are never quite the same again. I didn't realize Debbie Reynolds was so devious. He does tell why they broke up - she was too prim and proper and needed to loosen up a bit. However, if he had stayed with her he might not have had such a sad life. Who knows. The one thing that you will get out of this book is that lots of women loved Eddie and Eddie loved Eddie too.

Some cute, some not so cute little stories with a twist of humour. Not good for much, excecpt . . .

The title is the best part of this book. The stuff inside isn't as funny as you might hope. May be good for a snicker, but you're not likely to guffaw.

The tendency of this book to ridicule America (its history, its culture, its priorities, etc.) really calls into question the objectivity and political persuasion of its authors. Whether it's the destruction of the environment or world poverty, America and the American people are always to blame. We use too much energy; we don't share enough; blah blah blah. America does more to promote peace and economic development throughout the world than any other country. While the authors of this book don't seem to be so, I, for one, am PROUD to be an American

The general feel of this book is dark and dull. Graphics are oddly benign,upside, the Geography in Action sections offer realistic insight into Geographic concepts. Clawson and Fisher tried.

This book was full of non-stop action and thrilled the reader from beginning to end. I found it hard to put the book down. There was gun-play, sex, police chases, and many more things in this novel that made it one of the most interresting books that I have read in a long time. The main characters have to figure out who the enemy was and where they were going to strike.
