The Garbage Monster from Outer Space
Hank the Cowdog books are very good. They are sometimes funny and sometimes gross. Hank the Cowdog Garbage Monster from Outer Space is about a dog who tries to be an outlaw but was no successful doing it. Just wait until you read the book to find the funny and gross things in the story.
Hank is blamed for all the garbage barrels being raided.
After he is wrongly accused of raiding the garbage barrels on the ranch, Hank decides to become an outlaw. Rip and Snort, two coyote brothers, help Hank to learn the ways of outlaws. One of Hank's test was to raid garbage barrels at a trailer park. There Hank meets Eddy the Rac (racoon), an old "friend." Eddy makes Hank a "deal" which gets Hank in trouble. Sally May, Hank's master's wife, has to come clean up the trash that Hank has spilled around the park. Then Sally May said they would have to give Hank away, but little Alfred, her son, convinces her to let Hank stay.

This is how the old timers did it - and it still works!
For those out there who still refuse to put anything nylon on yer hoss - this is the book for you. In an age when "horse whisperers" dominate the public's view on training their mounts, it's good to still pay attention to the wisdom and insight passed on by men who rode for a living, day in and day out, on green mounts in rough country. Also includes sections on handling a herd, packing, campfire cooking, leather work, saddles, tack, early rodeo, and a few long-forgotten loops for those of you who think you know how to throw a rope! True buckaroos as well as greenhorns will love this book.

Devoted to the Art of Photography
In this book, Erickson proves that his ability to tell a story is not limited to tales for children, but the real jewel is in the work of Bill Ellzey. I first met Bill as a young teenager, and new even then that he saw things that other people did not see, and that he could get what he saw onto film. As we drove across the hot Texas Panhandle in his blue Dodge (with the windows down!) his dimples danced and shown through an already graying beard, and he began to teach me how to "see" like an artist. Bill's photographs will remind you of what you have seen, or let you see what you always hoped was out there somewhere. Enjoy this book, and let Erickson tell you tales, while Ellzey lets you see the indescribable. What a great combination these two boyhood friends have become!
PS: Bill, I'm sorry that I didn't have enough sons to name one of them Ellzey.
This is a GREAT book about the Panhandle of Texas
In an overall sense, this is one of the best books I have ever read. Arguably, Erickson is the best author living in Texas. Over and over, I think children would definitely consider him a wonderful storyteller. And, who is a better judge of storytelling than kids. I don't generally read Hank the Cowdog books, but I was very fascinated with the idea of reading this book. It was outstanding. Erickson, a Perryton (Texas) rancher/author, has written a great book about the Canadian River valley. The author does a great job of taking the reader along the journey. Erickson, makes the reader understand the past events and people groups who have lived or live in the central to eastern Panhandle of Texas. I think many would agree that the Panhandle is not one of the most beautiful areas of our world. Afterall, it's not as popular as the European Alps, Hawaiian islands, or even the Chesapeake Bay region - but, it is distinctive. One thing can certainly be said about the Panhandle - the places and people are REAL. What you see is what you get, so to speak. I appreciate John Erickson for being a real writer and a real storyteller. I appreciate John Erickson for writing about something he has a great understanding of.

Hank the Cowdog #34 Slim's Goodbye
Times are difficult on the ranch so Slim decides to leave and find a new job. Hank & Drover see an opportunity to go for a ride and jump in Slim's pick-up...no knowing that Slim doesn't plan to come back. Can't reveal the ending, but this one will entertain you as all of the series does. John Erickson does it again.

Look in the mirror!
In Hank's 20th hilarious adventure, he finds himself threatened by a phantom dog from the other side of the mirror. It seems that this dog and his companion, the "Handsome Prince", have nothing better to do than threaten to take over Hank and Drover's ranch by imitating their every move from the other side of the glass. Don't miss this great book!

Awesome Book .... A Must read for any Student of the Bible !
Dr. Erickson in his book "The Narrow Way" brings us back to Bible Doctrines commonly known today as Baptist Distinctives. Through diligent research and pratical application he brings to light the roots of the New Testament Church and her doctrines. I would recommend this book any student of the Bible.
