Changed My Life
This audio book changed my life. I have always wanted to read and study Scripture, but, like a lot of people, I could never find the time. Listening to the Gospels on CD was the answer. The sound quality is great. Michael Smith does a terrific job with the narration and the background music adds to the overall message instead of detracting from it. I would highly recommend The Gospels Come to Life to anyone interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and his teachings.

When does volume 2 come out!
This is one of the quintessential golf atlases. Following on the heels of the wildly successful and equally exquisite "Great golf courses of Canada," the authors have identified and honored many of the most hallowed grounds in America.

Breathtaking photography is coupled with historical accounts and hole-by-hole analyses of close to 40 of the most famous and beautiful golf courses. Major championship venues such as Augusta, Balturol, Merion and Oakmont are represented as well as some of the great resort courses and lesser known private gems such as Prarie Dunes, Seminole, The Honors and Kapalua.

There are a few glitches. For example, Ventana Canyon's chapter features a hole by hole account of the "Mountain Course", but a map of the "Canyon Course." Also, the author need not have restricted himself to a rigid 6-page formula.

Everyone of course will also argue that many greats were left out; perhaps Coeur D'Alene, Sawgrass and Bethpage Black. Nevertheless Volume 2 is hopefully in the works. Maybe the authors might wish also to try "Great golf Courses of Great Britain and Ireland.

A fantastic compilation of the best golf courses in America.
This book is filled with wonderful photography and interesting information on most of the great golf courses that the United States has to offer. If you are looking to find some information or take a look at a fabulous public or private golf course that you are not too familiar with, this is the book for you.

The definitive encyclopedia of life's most diverse kingdom!
It's an inexhaustible and wonder-filled resource for the serious student and the fascinated browser...yet it's out of print and unavailable!!! I want to echo Chelly Richard's comments and make a plea to the publisher that the book be reprinted, even if a "new edition" is not possible. In the meantime, fellow Amazonians, let me know if you find a used copy out there!

A very thorough source of information
This handbook is the perfect reference for students looking for information on a specific protoctist or this group of organisms as a whole. Each chapter pinpoints a different organism within the kingdom and is written by an authority. The book is very well organized, making information extremely easy to find - a must for a student just entering the field. My only complaints are that it is out-of-print and expensive. In order to attract young scientists to the field this information must be accessible.

Great Art!
Running across a Howard Hodgkin exhibition forever revolutionized my formerly negative view of modern art. It has opened my soul to new areas of art enjoyment not experienced previously. This book has many plates of his work and provides very interesting reading. Let his beautiful art and colors wash over you... Enjoy!

"The" publication on Hodgkin to own.
This well illustrated and multifaceted book is an important addition to any library. If only for Marla Price's catalogue raisonne a very valuble addition not in other publications about this important artist. I found the exchange of letters from Hodgkin to John Elderfield insightfull and full of the sort of detail on techniques hard to find elsewhere.

Michael Auping has written a compassionate opening essay on this sensitive man and the development of his work.

Susan Sontag writes about Hodgkin and art after modernism, with a wry and wonderfull humour.

All of these writings are punctuated with marvellous colour plates.

This book is a must.

Best International Business Textbook
I use this textbook and its previous edition to teach International Business to senior level students in cyberspace. I consider this the most readable text on the subject. This edition has been slimmed down from the previous edition, and it is an improvement to an excellent text. My students agree that this text is great.

Anyone who needs a comprehensive book on this field should purchase this text, it is worth every penny!

Order of the supplementary publications
I am at present using textbook "International Business", by John D. Daniels, Lee H. Radebaugh. Eighth Edition. I would be very grateful if you could Fax me as soon as possible the necessary forms to order one copy each of the supplementary publications: -Instructor's Resource Manual. -Study Guide. -Test Bank

Your sincerely,

set your timepieces!
In this book ,as you read, you can't help but keep looking at your watch. A minute by minute account of the famous charge. You feel as if you are in the ranks on both sides in that bloody attack and stalwart defense on Cemetery Ridge. THIS BOOK IS A CLASSIC TO COMPARE WITH GEORGE STEWART'S BOOK ON PICKETT'S CHARGE. Amust read for all GETTYSBURG BUFFS.

Micro-History at its best !
John Michael Priest has once again displayed the literary art to which he seems born. This book is so utterly enthralling, it is almost like reading a novel. Even the veteran of many Gettysburg book readings will hinge on the story of Pickett's charge as told by Priest. His use of numerous primary sources lends to his telling of the story by the participants themselves. Each individual story then coalesces into a coherent and understandable analysis of how the charge developed and died. Priest gives both Confederate and Union impressions an equal treatment, creating a full veiw of the action. His writing brings out the horror, sadness, terror, pride, honor and exhultation felt by those actually present on that fateful day. Previous knowledge of the battle or Pickett's action is not needed to enjoy this work. Priest follows the action closely, developing it enough for the beginner or simply curious to understand. For those with a background in Civil War history, even Pickett's charge, the personal accounts still make the account a worthwhile read.

A TIME TO KILL
NICK FRANCISCO PERIOD 2

"A Time to Kill" is John Grisham's first novel. His fluid, detailed storytelling is unlike the choppy first attempts of many modern authors. In a small town in the Deep South, two redneck hooligans rape and maim a ten-year-old black girl. Enraged, the girl's father, Carl Lee Hailey, takes justice into his own hands, killing the two rapists in a courthouse shooting. He seeks the help of defense lawyer Jake Brigance to save him from the gas chamber.

Brigance, a young but sharp lawyer, has to find a way to win an impossible case: a black man is on trial for killing two white men, and his case is being heard by an all-white jury. Adding to the mix are violence between the Ku Klux Klan and the black community, and the fact that, during the shooting, Carl Lee had injured a sheriff's deputy.

When I first read this novel, I was angered and irritated by the depth of hatred that exists within racism. I was angered that had Carl Lee been a white man bent on avenging his daughter's suffering, he would never have had to face trial. The rape of ten year old Tanya, Carl Lee's daughter, by Billy Ray and Pete, A Time to Kill is a disturbing novel, aside from the raping and killing that opens the tale. It is not possible to look at our justice system the same way, especially from the viewpoint of the black community in the South.

this is SO cool
John Grisham is of course my favorite author, and this is the perfect collector's item of sorts because it gives you all of his best books...in audio! If you listen to all his books, it just makes them come more alive and real, and it's just terrific.

John McPhee (Twayne's United States Authors Series, No 674)
Published in Hardcover by Twayne Pub (1997)
Author: Michael Pearson

THE book on McPhee
This book gave me fascinating insights into the life and work of a writer I've admired for years. I especially liked the account of McPhee's early years in Princeton and Vermont.

lucid and informative
McPhee is an important American writer and should have had a number of books written about his work before Pearson's, but this is terrific beginning. Pearson's book is intelligent, wonderfully written (interesting in its own right as a piece of prose), and suggestive. His book does what all good criticism should do -- it makes a reader want to go back to the author's work and re-experience it.
