when will come new publish of this book ?

There are many excellent textbooks about Internal Medicine on the market, and I own a lot of them. But the Kelley's book is the one I look up more often. It stands out, since it gives you the broadest and deepest clinical coverage of the internal medicine you can find in a two-volumes textbook. The forthcoming 4th edition, which is scheduled for 8/2000 and will be edited by Humes, will expand furter the coverage, reaching an unprecedented range, at least as can be judged by the anticipated index. For the sake of clarity and completeness, each subspecialty (cardiology, endocrinology and metabolism, and so forth) is divided in three parts: the first group of chapters is devoted to the pathophysiologic foundations, the second to diseases and the third to the diagnosis and treatment. This format is clever, because allow you to study each section separately without being overwhelmed by the astonishing amount of information it contains. A lot of chapters are devoted to the approach to the patient with different symptoms, to the interpretation of instrumental data and to the treatment: they are another distictive feature of the book, making it invaluable. If you are a physician or a serious student searching for an authoritative, encyclopedic textbook with broad pathophysiologic coverage and wide sections about the management of the patient, the Kelley's textbook will not disappoint you. For many of us, it is a must buy. For all, it is a bargain. This textbook is the gold standard as Internal Medicine textbook: it got 5-stars from Doody, and as far as I know, it was the only one awarded with such a high acknowledgement. I agree: five stars.

I skipped over Lawrence for years. I had heard the tawdry tales of his work and felt a bodice ripper is a bodice ripper no matter what century you put it in. But I was wrong! He is a marvel. As soon as I finished Sons and Lover's I went out and got The Rainbow. S & L, reads very quickly, much like Maughm's On Human Bondage. They are both of the same period and are both loosly based on the perspective authors lives. Tantilizing, they allow us a glimpse into the emerging industrial era. The middle classes and lower middle classes are emerging into the plutocracy but slowly. All around them are the dredges of a past system. The coming of age of Lawrence as he throws off his childhood and his need to throw off his mother is engrossing, since you know it is based on real life and not a campy Sally Jessy Rapahel show. He struggles as we all struggle to make the right choices. What Lawrence does is let us in on the stuff that most novels don't let the reader know. The truth the character gives to the reader is unheard of today. Read this book and follow him from childhood of a mama's boy in a coal town in Norther England that love's, and love's, and looses only to truly love .

This is a beautifully and lavishly illustrated, textually rich book. ItS pages demand the reader's undivided attention and are sure to enthrall all mystery lovers, Everest aficionados, nostalgia junkies, history buffs, and climbing enthusiasts. This book is sure to provide the reader with many hours of enjoyment.

The book chronicles the search for George Mallory and Andrew Irvine by the 1999 Mallory & Irvine Research Expedition. It juxtaposes the dramatic turn of events during their expedition with those of the 1924 British Everest Expedition which saw Mallory and Irvine attempt a summit climb, only to disappear into the mists of Everest, never to be seen again. It makes for a spell binding narrative, as past events are woven through present day ones.

The 1999 Mallory & Irvine Research Expedition was a meticulously well prepared and well organized venture. With its discovery of George Leigh Mallory's body, it enjoyed much success. The research and analysis that went into its ultimate, well thought out conclusions were comprehensive and fascinating, with its strong reliance upon forensics and deductive reasoning. Their reconstruction of Mallory's and Irvine's last climb is riveting. Unfortunately, the ultimate question still remains unanswered. Did they or did they not reach the summit of Mount Everest back in 1924?

The beautiful photographs of the personal effects found upon Mallory's person underscore a certain poignancy about the discovery of Mallory's well preserved body. The photographs which memorialize this discovery are amazingly lovely and tasteful, considering its subject matter, and hauntingly illustrate the finality with which Everest may deal with mountaineers, no matter how accomplished.

The photographs also highlight how ill equipped for the harsh climatic conditions were the early Everest expeditions. It is amazing, and a credit to those early expeditioners' courage and fortitude, in braving such an inhospitable and harsh terrain with the inadequate clothing and equipment available to them at the time. Mallory and Irvine were certainly intrepid explorers!

This book is a fitting tribute to two men who sought to make a historic summit and, in their attempt, would forever be a part of Everest.

If you have ever wondered what happened to the best climber ever to set foot on this earth, and the brave wonderful man who disappeared with him, this is your book! A group of courageous men set out to solve this question in 1999, 75 years after the mysterious disappearance of George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. And what they find will chill you to your very bones! I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in Mt. Everest and all brave but foolhardy ventures.

Penny Whimsy is the essential reference for people interested in collecting early U.S. cents. Sheldon writes in a very entertaining and informative manner, even if his subject is very detailed. the copper cent output of the early philadelphia mint was severely hampered by dies of poor quality materials, a new die could break after just a few pieces were struck,the dies were repaired using parts from other dies, thus striking a new coin that differed slightly from the original piece,the original,in fact became a rare coin as only a few pieces were struck, even though it was possibly a common date! Dr Sheldon in his book Penny Whimsy,spent a lifetime cataloging each coin struck,and assigning a rarity number. An ideal research book for the large cent collector,you may have a rarity and not be aware of it!

I was very distressed at the implications and conclusions drawn at many places in this book.

Parts of the book are directly contradicted by accounts of participants such as Allison Ind or by Walter D. Edmonds, who conducted interviews thirty years closer to the event.

Unfortunately at certain points, Bartsch denigrates or ignores important sources of information and the reader is unable to tell that he has done this.

I am concerned that students and the public are reading this book and accepting it as absolute truth.

This book really touched me and it answered a lot of question running in my mind ever since I was a small boy. The booked mesmerized me so much that I picked up an old P-40B model in my model stacks and started making a replica of Joe Moore's No. 41 P-40B, then later named "P-40 Something". It is my mission to revisit the airfields at Clark, Iba, the Bataan fields, Lahug, and the rest. When I was reading this work of art by Bartsch, I can feel as if I was there to witness it on hand because of my familiarity with the places mentioned.

For those that study the early months of America's entry into WWII, the disaster at Clark field resonates like Pearl Harbor. The story of the fighter pilots based in the Philippines is one of bravery and honor, but against a relentless enemy, their doom was sealed.

Bartsch has written an excellent history covering the not so popular topics of disaster and defeat. However, it is the individual human story that shines through the flames and smoke that choked America in the early days of 1942.

I am surprised to be the first person to review this book The Die Song, by Donald T. Lunde and Jefferson Morgan, was a wonderfully written nonfiction book It was about Herbert William Mullin, a mass murderer who was sent to prison although it was clear he was insane. The psychologist who helped write the book, Donald T. Lunde, was the one who worked with the murderer during the trial. It was written in a way that made the reader feel like a witness to the murders, the trial and the criminal's life. It provided a deep analysis into the background of Mullin. The book was very well written, and I could hardly put it down! I highly recommend this book to those interested in either psychology or criminology.

Usually the book written by consultants keep some of the most important aspect of the technique on which they are writing or do not give all the infomation so that you have to call them to do the job. This is not the case with this book. Mr. Lee just put everything he knows about facilities design in this book in a way that can be easily followed by any one interested in doing facilities and workplace design. Areas for improvement in the book are related to the quality of some of the charts that I found a little difficult to read because of the small font size used. Nevertheless, this is a fault of the publisher and not of the author. If you are looking for a "how to do it" in a simple and straightforward way, without any unnecessary material, you this is the book.

A VERY WELL WRITTEN STORY ABOUT THE RAH RAH COACH OF THE REDSKINS. IT IS A STORY OF AN INTENSE, WORKAHOLIC, NEVER SATISFIED COACH, WHO BELIEVES IN WINNING WITH VETERANS. HE HAD IMMEDIATE SUCCESS WEAREVER HE COACHED. THE BOOK FOLLOWS HIS PLAYING CAREER IN SCHOOL FOLLOWED BY HIS COACHING CAREER IN COLLEGE, ASSISTANT COACH IN NFL, AND AS HEAD COACH OF RAMS AND REDSKINS. IT MOSTLY COVERS THE 1971 REDSKIN SEASON AND THEIR RISE TO THE PLAYOFFS. VERY DETAILED AND FACT FILLED. WELL WORTH READING.

I thought this book would be more, or read like more, to me.... I ended up scanning some passages because of the telling of individuals' stories that permiate the book. I came away with a couple of things to think about, but on balance, I thought there was just too much "filler" and not enought "there"..there. Good concepts, but not enough for a book..... and not so different than what others have proposed in other books. Just a different take. Would have made a nice pamphlet.

NOW I UNDERSTAND why I have bursts of creativity or achieve a "runner's high" (even though I'm just walking briskly) under certain conditions. Benson explains that it's the science--and explains it in a way that I can replicate (he would say "trigger") the Breakout experience at will.

The various applications of the Breakout principle are organized by chapter, allowing the reader to think about each application type and to compare and contrast them. Currently our teenagers are applying the Breakout technique in their respective sports activities with some success. I am curious about applying it in an R&D setting where colleagues need to have a "collective" Breakout to develop new, innovative products.

This book gives you insights (1) to how the brain functions, (2) to better harness its power and (3) to outperform competitors.

THE BREAKOUT PRINCIPLE breaks through to a new understanding of
creativity and productivity. I never realized that there was a biological basis for the generation of ideas and insights -and that this biology could actually be switched on at will. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to increase the odds of achieving peak performance at work or play.
