This is an excellent Anthropology resource!
I had to use this textbook for a college anthropology class recently. I found that reading the book every night was actually enjoyable--it has an incredibly easy reading-style! Also, the authors are very careful to offer numerous opinions on most subjects so that the reader can draw their own informed opinions. I think this book is excellent for anyone interested in learning about anthropology or archaeology for the first time. Enjoy!

A Beautiful Romantic World War II Novel
Robert J. Williams has written a beautiful romantic novel set in the closing days of World War II Germany. Some of the best narrative prose I have ever read explores the dynamics of love between a surprisingly mature and insightful sixteen-year-old German girl and a young battle-hardened American platoon leader. War provides a grim background to this unforgettable love story.

Great Ideas and Entertaining Reading
Check out this different approach to the subject of environmental awareness. The authors do a unique job of educating and influencing while providing you with good, easy-to-implement ideas, and entertaining perspectives. I've used ideas from it in my day-to-day life, shared learnings with others, and used it as a tool in my work with corporate America in the area of reaching employees with the whole life approach to environmentalism...at work and at home. This book goes far beyond recycling to looking at our earth from a sustainable development perspective -- a perspective we'll all benefit from considering.

USS New Ironsides
Despite being an excellent source on the construction and operations of this unique ship, this book is also a comment on what could have been had more of this superior design been built, or the orginal not accidentally destroyed. The book does a good job of addressing the "Monitor Fever" of the time that caused many monitors to be built despite the flaws of the design. Monitors appeared in variety from one to three turrets, while only two seagoing broadside ironclads saw service. Designed for ship to ship combat, Monitors did not have the large battery's necisary to tackle forts, the broadside ironclads did. Since forts were common, but CSN ironclads were few and far between and were broadside ships to begin with, the puzzle is why the US did not explore this design further. The answer, the author proves, was politics.

Every little thing
From the cavemen to the modern days, this book covers everything known to the history of veterinary medicine so far: from the ancient means of diagnosis, to the discoveries of new treatments, to great people who helped to develop the veterinary medicine. It's not a book for specialists, but for anyone interested in history. I particularly bought this book because I'm a vet, and wanted to know the origins of my profession. And I had a very good surprise.

A Wonderful Later Play
*Vieux Carre* is probably the finest play of Williams' "Late" period--and it's terrific, though unfairly neglected. It's much more like the earlier work in terms of a "straight" narrative, and as good as it is I think we'll be seeing many more productions of it in the future.

The definitive edition of a timeless classic
Deftly edited by Robert N. Essick (Professor of English, University of California - Riverside), Visions of the Daughters of Albion is a full color reproduction of William Blake's classic literary blend of verse and art, which was first printed in 1793. Enhanced with a straightforward, easy-to-read, separate transcription of Blake's poem, drawings from Blake's sketchbook related to the final work, and an extensive and erudite literary commentary on the images plate-by-plate, Visions Of The Daughters Of Albion is the definitive edition of a timeless classic and would grace the collection of any academic reference library or William Blake enthusiast.

wonderful history/reference
A wonderful reference book on the early history of the powerful and informative Voice of America international radio operations. The book features close to 600 pages of detailed text. An interesting and highly detailed reference work for anyone who is a serious historian or general enthusiast of English language radio history.
