Great for 1st years
This is a great resource for first year medical students who want to develop a good basic understanding of biochemistry in the clinical setting. I have been using this text/atlas a great deal as a good tool to get a quick idea of topics (which are actually written in quite good depth) and then to bring concepts together. If you like to learn through pictures and diagrams, then this is a must have!

Rich, seasoned commentary on history and modern times
This third volume of Huxley's complete essays will appeal to a college collection which already has the first two volumes and anticipates collecting the entire six: this volume covers 1930-35 and collects his observations of the social and political trends of those years. Important essays and articles provide rich, seasoned commentary on history and modern times.

Complete Poems and Songs of Robert Burns (Collins Classics)
Published in Paperback by HarperCollins Publishers (09 January, 1995)
Authors: Robert Burns, James Barke, and John Cairney

Comprehensive collection of his work
This book contains all Robert's poems, including epitaphs, plus all his song lyrics, but not the sheet music, because he did not compose any music. Of course, there is one song of his, Auld lang syne, which is extremely well known, although not many people are aware that he was its writer. This is not a biography, though some brief historical details are provided. If you want an in-depth biography, you must look elsewhere.

Robert Burns wrote about every topic you could imagine - love, nature, politics, people, anything that was topical in the late eighteenth century. Among the most famous poems are A red red rose (including the line Till a' the seas gang dry my dear), To a louse (including the line O wad the Power some giftie gie us) and To a mouse (including the line The best laid schemes o' mice and men).

The poems and songs are presented chronologically in the order of date written. Personally, I would have preferred the book divided into chapter, with each chapter covering a different theme, but it doesn't really matter. There is an index of first lines as well as an index of titles.

A glossary is provided to allow translation from Scottish to English. People sometimes joke that Britain and America are two countries separated by a common language, but this glossary is a reminder that the same can be said about Scotland and England. I cannot say how easy or difficult you will find the dialect. I was born of Scottish parents so I learned a bit as a child even though I was raised in England. Hopefully, you will most of it reasonably straightforward with a bit of practice. The quality of the poetry makes it well worth the effort.

Within the main book, at the bottom of each page, footnotes are provided to set the context of the poem or song where this is deemed useful. For example, Ballad of the American war has footnotes giving brief details of events between 1775 and 1784, so you will immediately realise that the poem doesn't just focus on the war itself, but also its aftermath.

Also the REAL Sid James...!
As well as being a wonderful encyclopaedia of all Sid's work and everything he ever appeared in, this book also sets the record straight about the kind of person Sid really was.

There have been a number of insulting stories surrounding Sid's life, habits, and personality, but this book shows him to be every bit the loveable rogue that we see on film - as well as, of course, being human.

Robert Ross has gone to great lengths to interview the people who knew Sid and were closest to him, and therefore this book can safely claim to portray the truth.

Construction Industry Formbook/Includes Supplement (Construction Law Series)

Construction Industry Formbook
If your looking for a forms book for construction contracts this is the one. The book is filled with standard AIA documents and includes the typical verbage explaining each section. The cool, unexpected item is the alternative contract language. For example, indemnification terms has the standard AIA verbage and then has 3-5 alternate versions of the same section. Pretty slick.

Highly literate fan fiction
As a longtime reader of Cthulhu Mythos fiction, I was heartened to see this volume of Jim Ambuehl's work in between covers. Each tale here is solidly based in the Mythos, with the addition of the author's Lu-Kthu cycle, adding some entities to the pantheon. Some are reminiscent of the old Creepy and Eerie black&white mags, all are well-told and most bear the author's singular satirical stamp. Each tale also has an illustration (these are just ok). Robert Price in another of his long intros makes a comparison between fanfic and pro fic, most of which makes sense (this is supposed to be the first of a number of fanfic authors' anthologies, but it's the only one I've seen). Well-worth the buying if only to get Mr. Ambuehl enough sales to be encouraged to do more work in the Mythos. I'm familiar with his work from the various online sources, and am always pleasantly diverted by his fiction.

Highly Recommended!
H. James Harrington, Glen D. Hoffherr and Robert P. Reid argue that creativity is not reserved for the few. Rather, it is a skill all humans can develop - if they are willing to step back from their day-to-day routines and focus on their inner lives. This book is a mind-altering system. It is packed with quotes, cartoons, graphs, and exercises to help individuals and organizations realize their creative potential. If the writing seems redundant at times, it is only because the authors want you to be able to open the book anywhere and learn something quickly - and you can. We [...] recommend this book and its CD-ROM package to high-level managers looking to shake things up in the office or in their personal lives. But lower-level employees who want to move up in the world will benefit from it as well.
