I was given a copy of this book by the author and asked to read it and comment on it. As a former Catholic Priest and psychotherapist, I must agree with Richard Roar" This is how theology and psychology should come together". I found myself captivated by this scholarly,yet understandable masterpiece. This is an inspirational book and should be necessary reading for every seminary and household regardless of your religion.David's expose on archetypes and methaphore reaches to the depths of one's very essence, challenging and clarifying one's beliefs and illustrating to the reader exactly how to pray from your heart and not just with words. It has inspired me to write a book on 150 Psalms, Poems, Letters, Prayers and Meditations for the Millenium. I challenge you to become inspired and search the Mary Within you. If you haven't read Mary Within, you must! You won't be able to put it down. Good reading!

I need some help. I ordered the above Handbook out of the February 2002 AARP Bulletin on February 2002. I mailed them a check. I have not received my handbook. Not only is this book a waste of money but its title is so misleading that borders on the fraudulent. Only about 15% of the book deals with the puported subject (IBS). The only thing you are going to learn from this Handbook is that you should not smoke, take caffeine, drink alcoholic beverages or eat fat and sugar. And then only on general health priciples, not because this regime would be particularly helpful in alleviating the IBS syntoms. What a take!

When I ordered this book, I was expecting, as in most medically-oriented books, a reasonably well documented work, laying out the most recent research covering the topic, with footnotes leading me to both the sources the author used in writing the book, as well as material for additional research. This book has none of that. There wasn't a hint of the author's background. There wasn't a single footnote. Had I not suffered from RLS for over twenty years, I wouldn't have been able to even guess as to the validity of the material. Fortunately, I have personal experience of most of the conclusions arrived at in the book, and found them to be reasonably accurate, allowing me to infer that the remaining conclusions are also valid.
My recommendation: Don't buy this book. Instead, check out the other books on this topic carried by Amazon, which are better documented, and thus more reliable sources.
