Magic School Bus and stickers, too!
Mrs. Frizzle takes her class on an "extremely" hands-on field trip, and takes her readers on an "extremely" hands on voyage as they can place stickers on the book to create their own scenes. Students can learn about different planets, moons, meteors, and more, and younger children enjoy the stickers!

Good Choice as a Read Out Loud Story!
This book has adorable illustrations which make it easy for younger children to follow along the storyline of Norma Jean (a Kangaroo)who learns the hard way that there is a time and place for everything. The easy to read format makes it a good choice for beginning readers. Also, adults will like this story as it is just the right length for a bedtime story.

WONDERFUL book!
My daughter craved stimulation as an infant. She loved simple finger play games such as pat-a-cake, but I couldn't remember the words or hand motions to many others (how DO you get from a steeple to a church full of people?). When I went to our local bookstore in search of a book on finger play rhymes and directions, the clerk couldn't praise this book enough. Joanna Cole's books are EXTREMELY easy to understand, with step by step caricatures picturing hand placement and motion. My now three year old daughter enjoys looking through the book as well as singing the songs. This book comes highly recommended.

Very useful
I have checked great numbers of these sorts of books out of the library and often find them to be disapointing, oversimplistic, or impractical. This book had a nice collection of games, rhymes, and craft activities, and seems worth the purchase.

A Wonderful Little Book
This little book has beautiful illustrations and simple, descriptive text that makes it interesting and fun to read. Although intended as an early reader, my four year old LOVES this book, and I have read it over and over to him. A few days before we found it, we watched a real spider catch a fly in a web, which really made the book come alive for him. In this book, a spider builds a web, catches a fly for her lunch and catches a wasp and releases it. A male spider taps on her web, and we are told that the spiders mate. Later, the spider lays her eggs, and we are told that she will soon die. At the end, her eggs hatch, and the wind carries the tiny babies off to build webs of their own. Not only do children learn about spiders with this book, but they also are presented with the concept that life is a natural cycle. This book would be perfect for first graders who are doing a unit on spiders, or for families who are observing spiders at home.

Excited about reading!
I was very excited to find out about the Magic School Bus chapter books. I teach 2nd and 3rd grades and my students love this book! My 3rd graders are reading chapter books. This new series allows them to keep reading about Ms. Frizzle and her class. They are learning more Science facts and working on their reading skills. As a teacher I couldn't ask for more!

I'm a Big Sister

New bedtime requirement!
The Big Sister in this house can't get enough of this book! We received this book at a baby shower, and our daughter absolutely LOVES it. Every night before bed, we MUST "read the Big Sister," and after I tuck her in and leave, my daughter, at 2 1/2, reads it again to herself (from memory, of course!). Cole does a wonderful job of showing the Big Sister playing with the baby, holding the baby, and helping to care for the baby. I believe the book has several strengths: First, the family togetherness theme is very strong--the family is together at the beginning and end of the book. Second, the big sister knows to Ask to hold the baby (which my daughter emulates quite nicely). Third, the big sister is reminded that she was once little, just like the baby, but she is now big and can do "big girl" things. And, most importantly, Cole STRONGLY affirms the Big Sister as her own special person who is still very much loved, even though this new baby has arrived.

My daughter likes to play, "Where's the ___?" on every page, pointing to each character and object, and we can't turn the page until we've found each and every thing! It takes a while to read the book, but it's a great bonding time with her. On top of the great content, it doesn't get tiresome for me to read every night, because it's not repetitive or obnoxious, as some childrens' books can be.

Our daughter can't wait to be a big sister
After reading this book to my 3 year old, she is more excited than ever about being a big sister. Everyday she asks if we are going to the hospital to pick up her baby sister (she insists it will be a girl). We chose this book because we had read that other books talked about conception and we thought for a 3-year old that was a little much.

The author does a great job of explaining issues about what life will be like when the younger sibling arrives. This is a must for all those expecting a new arrival. Also the author's picture book regarding this subject is exceptional.

Just What I Was Looking For!
My 2 1/2 year old daughter LOVES this book - it is exactly what I was looking for to help explain her new role in our family as a big sister. She is so excited about the birth of our baby and is eager to help. The book makes the big sister feel very special and points out all of the things that the big sister can do that babies can't (eating pizza, apples and ice cream, for instance!). We've had this book 3 weeks and every night my daughter has demanded we read it to her - now she has the whole book memorized and reads it to her dolls! I'm so glad I found this one!
