My 2nd graders love this book!
Doing a unit on Ancient Egypt this Summer, and was THRILLED to see this book at the library. I wish they had made a video too! My kids love it. Ms. Frizzle is her usual self sans the class. She's taking a vacation in Egypt during Summer break but just can't let go of being a teacher. She jumps out of the plane on the way there and the other passengers become her students. They go back in time thanks to Ms. Frizz's Time Travel Watch. Great illustrations, captions. Very historically faithful and fun.

a funny and informative book for children
This new adventure with the loving teacher Ms. Frizzle will enchant kids of all ages. Splendidly illustrated with accurate details, this book is a delight to read: funny, informative, colorful, clear and comprehensive. An excellent, highly recommended book for children ages 8 to 12.

Ms. Frizzle and Ancient Egypt... What Could be Better?
My children absolutely love the Magic School Bus Adventures. Now, combining Ms. Frizzle with one of their favorite times in history is a magical success! My children learned about Ancient Egypt in the exciting, fun and descriptive way only Ms. Frizzle could portray. I'm so glad Ms. Frizzle "took chances and got messy" with social studies! Hooray!

Great fun
For anyone who jumped rope a great deal (this excludes me) or swung the rope while others jumped (this includes me), this book is sure to have some favorite rhymes. As such, it is an interesting way to initiate cross-generational discussions - jump-rope rhymes are school yard folklore with astounding staying power. The book is also useful as a way to encourage young "couch potatoes" to get a bit of time outside with requiring outside to be a large space.

Of course, the best way to use the book is simply to enjoy it.

Hopping fun! It will take you back to your playground days.
What great fun to be reminded of the jump rope rhymes of my youth. And even greater fun to share them with my daughter. I hope you enjoy this collection of rhymes as much as we do.

Great for short or long reading sessions!
Nearly 800 pages of adventure, humor, and thought abound in this wonderful collection! Included are the tales everyone knows like Rumplestiltskin, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, and others we loved as children. But this book also includes wonderful imgainative fantasy that won't appear in every children's fairy tale book. Did you know about the giant who had no heart in his body? How about the mean spirited half-chicken who eventually became a weather vane? This book contains 200 stories from all parts of the world, more varied than the "Small World" ride at disneyland, and just as enjoyable for those who love to read!

Sit down with this book and open a page at random, and guaranteed it will be difficult to put down! Each imaginitive story can be read in only a few minutes, but there are so many of them that it will be difficult to remember them all, and the stories themselves make for great conversation pieces, or to tell to children (which was their original intent after all.) A must read for those who love ancient fantasy!

An excellent collection
Cole's collection of folktales was published originally in 1982. It's ability to stay in print is a testament to is great depth and array of fairy tales from around the world. The tales are organized by region in the table of contents and are grouped by topic and themes in the index. This is a great standard collection of fairy tales for any library.

A deck of cards can be a family fun activity
Crazy Eights And Other Card Games is a straightforward, "kid friendly" guide to simple playing card games that children of all ages can easily learn. Black-and-white illustrations and step-by-step instructions about the rules of games like Casino, Concentration, War, Twenty-One, Beginning Rummy, and a great many more guarantee that a deck of cards can be a family fun activity, as well as an ideal solution to children entertaining themselves when they must be indoors during inclement weather.

A one-stop repository for favorite children's card games!
We discovered this book just after a week's vacation. We had been playing cards with children's card packs - old maid, rummy and go fish. I was anxious to find a book on all of the old children's games that I remember playing, Crazy Eights being a favorite. Not only does this book have lots of games, including many I had never heard of, but the illustrations and rules for playing are explained extremely well.

Highly recommended for some family time fun.

Joanna Cole succeeds again
As someone with training in folklore, I always trust a book with Joanna Cole's name on it. This book does a very good job of showing (rather than desscribing) the actions and provides the words and music. As it is folklore, you will find some of the fingerplays or action rhymes from your childhood as well as new additions to your repetoire. As I have come to expect, I believe that the publishing company has underestimated the age range for which the book is appropriate ... listen to your young friends after their first camping trip with the cub scouts, bluebirds etc. and you will find that even at that ages children are teaching children some of these plays.

Fantastic book to keep kids entertained
I love this book! I use it all the time when I want to keep kids up to 6 years old busy. I have kids who visit who beg me to bring out the book to do the finger plays. I recommend it highly.

Excellent Source for any science teacher
I am a high school biology teacher. Since reading this book I have purchased 5 of the Magic School Bus Chapter Books. This book provides excellent scientific information and students of all ages enjoy. I had my 6 year old nephew read it, I read it, and one of my freshmen biology students read it. We all came to the same conclusion; we want to take a trip the aquarium and see the sharks firsthand for ourselves. I highly reccommend anyone with a child or a love for science to read this book.

Educational and exciting!
My 5 year daughter and I recently finished reading this book. This series is a wonderful way for kids to learn about science. After reading this book, she asked to go to a local aquarium to see some sharks for herself. We can't wait to read the other books in the series.

The Magic School Bus Taking Flight
My son enjoys this book because it explains how an airplane works. Ms. Frizzle's class takes a field trip to the model airplane show. When on student gets curious about flying, Ms. Frizzle decides to take the students to get on the airplane. They run into problems when Tim trips over the binoculars & breaks the controls. The class learns how the airplane stays in the air & when you move the propellers on the airplane the plane turns directions. I every child should read The Magic School Bus series

Fabulous Science Book!
I read this book as part of a final project about children's science books. I found this book fun, adventurous and educating! As a teacher, I intend to stock my classroom library with this and the other books in the "Magic School Bus" series. The videos that correspond to certain books are also a good resource. Kids: you'll love it! Adults: it's an excellent resource; use it!

Useful resource for entertaining young kids
So you are planning a party for your youngster and are trying to remember some fun games from way back, but your mind goes suddenly blank? Here is a collection of twenty fun and simple games for young children, that also very easily lend themselves to variations as you go along. The games described don't involve complicated rules or require elaborate preparations and are clearly and attractively presented. For each game, there is also some advice on safety issues and some ideas for variations. A very useful resource. Worked very well for my four year old's recent birthday party.

Great Book!
I recently gave a party for my 7 year old using games from this book. They had a blast! The games are VERY simple and definitely only for the age group that was recommended by Amazon. Most are the classics that you probably know already but when you sit down to think of things to do, you forget. Its a handy reference guide and not expensive. If you are looking for more complex or unique games, this isn't for you. But for the purpose it was intended, they nailed it. Oh, and it comes with the game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey...I bet that is at least $2-3 by itself in the store!

My 2 year-old has loved this book since age 1 -- it's great!
It has a lot of activities, from nursery rhymes and songs to longer stories, and activities like finding objects in pictures and creating stories. I think this may be my daughter's favorite. We take it on all vacations because it has everything. We love it and I've given it as a gift many times.

It's wonderful book and takes me back to my childhood.
My daughter has checked this book out of the library at least 5 times. Everytime we go this is the book she wants to get. I am now wanting to purchase it for her.

Success for Beginning Readers!
This book is perfect for children who are just learning to read! The colorful illustrations on each page give the reader lots of clues to help them with their first attempts at reading. The book contains a review of the alphabet, pictures with labels (such as parts of the body), rebus stories, and stories made of only one, two, three, or four words. There is a lot of rhyme and playfulness which makes this book a joy to share with a beginning reader. As a first grade teacher, I plan on buying many copies of this book for my classroom to help my beginning readers feel SUCCESSFUL!
