Charming and captivating!
Melody Carlson has created fascinating, realistic characters and a charming town in Pine Mountain. The best part of her book is that it is the first in a series! I, for one, can't wait for the next book. I especially enjoyed the simultaneous renovation of the town, Maggie's house, and her heart!
Tupsu: The Squirrel Who Was Afraid

A sweet tale of faith and friendship in the face of fear
Tupsu is a little squirrel who loves life in his beautiful, light-filled forest. One day a wicked fox comes and fills Tupsu's head with fearful lies. Suddenly everything Tupsu once loved is dark and frightening. As spring approaches, Tupsu meets Kireli, another squirrel who reminds him of the One who made the forest and who made him. Tupsu is a sweet story of how faith and friendship can help us to overcome our fears. My four-year-old loves this book!
The Prayer of Jabez for Little Ones

Sweet prayer for small ones
It is hard to find meaningful prayer books for the smaller set. Most are too preachy or unrelated to "real life". This book does a good job of presenting the awesome Prayer of Jabez in a way little ones can not only understand but really grasp on to and incorporate into their prayer life. That's what I was hoping for and that's what I got.
Excellent
We live in a world where children are often powerless, and it is so important to teach them that God loves them and wants to bless them. The prayer of Jabez isn't about selfishness, it's about recognizing that everything comes from God, and submitting oneself to His leadership in order to prosper.
The Prayer of Jabez for Little Ones
we need more books that teach us about God! This book is a great step toward building a relationship with God.
Jessica (Springsong Books)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (1996)
Amazon base price: $4.99

"Oh no, I'm adopted! Time for the trek to 'find myself'!"
I pretty much just summed up how I feel about this book with my one-line summary--but I'll expand a little, anyway. If Jessica is bored with her "humdrum" life, then I'm certainly bored with this "humdrum" storyline! How many times is somebody going to write a story of a girl who finds out she's adopted, revolts immediately against her parents, and runs away to find her "real" parents? Jessica is impulsive, reckless, and of course rebellious. I guess we're supposed to sympathize with her; I was just mad at how thoughtless she was and how little she cared about the people who had raised her. But at least, this twist on the over-used and predictable storyline of adoption/reconciliation is an interesting one. If you haven't read enough of this type of story to last you three lifetimes, then go ahead and give this one a try (but don't say you weren't warned). Otherwise, use your money wisely and buy a different SpringSong book.
An excellent book rebellious teenagers need to read!
In the book Jessica, 16 year old Jessica Johnson finds a new hang out-The Blue Sky Cafe. She meets Barry, a cute waiter who she soon has a crush on. Also some popular girls from school who see starts to hang out with, only to get into more trouble! Forbidden to go to the Cafe, Jessica finds out a family secret. Troubled by her unknown past, she runs away with Barry to discover his true colors. She runs into unsuspected danger and mystery as new adventures unfold in front of her, maturing her and making her wish she never discoved the Cafe! She matures and find out where she really belongs and who she REALLY is! I thought the book was really good and is a MUST for young adult readers. Exspecially rebellouis teens! Everyone can learn a lesson or two by raeding this truely exciting young girls story.

The Lost Lamb

Very cute!
This is a very nice book. I like how the story didn't veer off from the original Biblical version the way a lot of Bible story books do. Luke 15 1-7 is a very important parable and this book presents it in a gentle, Christ centered way. The illustrations are lovely, the story was sweet and accurate. Makes a lovely bedtime storybook for young children.
An entertaining teaching story
The colorful illustrations and the light-hearted rhyming carry this book effortlessly along. And, I like how Jesus' words are presented on the last page of the book.

As always, Caitlin's diary is intersting, honest, and insightful. The new characters that we meet along the way add fresh interst to the story, yet Caitlin's old friends make appearances too. Sticking to her "non-dating for now" commitment is just as tricky as ever, yet Caitlin continues to inspire us with how she deals with dating. This book will keep you reading, and the unexpected event involving Caitlin and Josh will leave you aching for the sequel...
The books in the Diary of a Teenage Girl series are great examples of almost-perfect Christian books. Containing a main character we can all identify with and tackling issues that every Christian faces-this diary is a must-read.
