Comprehensive primer
"Journal Publishing" provides the basics needed to understand this niche of the publishing market. I found the use of charts & graphs very helpful and would have liked to have seen more. It's a bit dated in the electronic publishing area, but this is to be expected since it was published prior to the most recent advances.

Academic insights need experiential insights for balance.
There is an over reliance on academic insights. The Christian scriptures are explicit concerning the limitations of rational thought. Rational inquiry into the ways of the Almighty always ends with a gaping question mark! This open question can only be bridged by personal experience which produces a personal knowing without the need to comprehend. This quote from Carl Jung makes my point : "I cound not say I believe. I know! I had the experience of being gripped by something that is stronger than myself, something, that people call God." While calling upon the sights of a multiplicity of sources, why did the authors neglect insights from two very well known Christian psychologists/priests: Morton Kelsey and John A. Sanford?

Easy and fun read
I grabbed this book from a friend, not really expecting to like it, but looking for something to read on a plane trip. And I have to admit it was an enjoyable and quaint middle class story. An old style mystery with a good heart. The writing is done in the vernacular of its New Orleans cast and it makes for a easy read.

An it's exactly that an easy read, a big mac, it's not a book that you're going to think back on one day. So, if you're looking for a good book for the plane or the beach, knock yourself out. If you want something alittle meatier, move on.

Where Pigeons Go to Die Book Review
R. Wright Campbell develops a very deep metaphoric story of a man's last wish before dying and a bird's struggle with life during a flight home. Anyone who trains or even likes birds, would enjoy this story much more than I, but it is a story with a very deep meaning and can be looked upon in several different ways from any perspective.

The story focuses on a young boy, Hugh, who faces a struggle with a very beloved grandfather who becomes ill. Hugh also is worried about his cherished bird "Dickens" who is his number one bird. Dickens is many miles away, making his way back home. Hugh, the young boy is faced with being separated with the two most important things in his life at the same time, and learns to cope the best that a ten-year old boy knows how. Hugh realizes the similarity of his grandfather to his beloved pigeon; he sees that both just want to be back in their own bed. The story is easy to follow and can be enjoyed by any age group.

The Wizard of La-La Land
I really was intrigued by this book. I just finished reading it, and I must say, it is not what I expected. I went against the rules of choosing a book and chose to buy this one because of its title. You must admit that it is a little interesting. So, I read it and now I feel that there is a whole side of Hollywood (aka, La-La Land) that people don't often know about. The book goes into a lot of the action behind the scenes of life in Hollywood. Being from the east coast, it was a new point of view with which to look at the lives of Californians. I can't say that I really liked the book, but the story was definitely one that had promise. The characters were moderately well-developed and there were enough surprises to keep me reading. It's a good book if you like mysteries and the occult.

uninspirational celebration
scymanski has an ok story here. price has a good one about the gorgon. that one was very enjoyable, and had some lovely details. otherwise, this was dreary read. so many of these stories were not only badly invented, but seemed so uninspired to. i almost felt sorry for the writers, for making so bad stories. i think this is chaosium's worst.
