Too Gritty For Me
While this book may have some merits, I pulled it from the middle school library because the language, while it may be realistic, is too gratuitously rough for middle school students.

The High School Lifestyle
A Review by Dane

This book is about a friendship between two high school basketball players that came too face with one: The stress of grades and scholarships for colleges and two: The death of ones friend and not knowing why they did what they did. The two friends, T.J. and Tyron both play basketball and both get the privilege to play at Full Court Camp. Each of them experience life changing memories at this camp; what those memories are, is something you'll have to find out for yourself.

I was unsure when the climax of the story was to take place but after figuring it out I realized how unexpected it hit me, without any warnings. (I'm sure that's how the author intended it; the only hints were when T.J. saw the caution tape surrounding the bridge.) He only had an idea. I didn't like the ending of the story; it didn't end with a spark like most stories do. It turned out to be an unhappy ending when T.J. looks down over the bridge were him and LuAnn spoke saw where she may have fallen. What I did enjoy about this story was that T.J. was determined to know why the death of his friend was so and better understand who pushed her into making the final decision to leap to her death.

I would recommend this book to people that enjoy the game of basketball and enjoy the lifestyle of a high school student. All and all it had smooth fluency and was and easy read.

good book, very emotional
Blue Star Rapture is a pretty good book. It tells the lives of a couple of high school boys, T.J. and Tyron, who are good at basketball. The main character T.J. is kind of like Tyron's shepherd because Tyron is a supreme basketball player but is very slow academically. They go to this huge basketball camp where T.J. meets this girl from across the bridge at a church camp. It is a very good story, very exciting, although it does get confusing in a few spots. I recommend this book to all athletes because it describes the drive and determination it takes to compete with the best of the best in sports, as well as in life.

How to become a ninja
I don't think that you will become a ninja just reading tihs book

This book was horrible
this book was an absolute ripoff. anyone who has this book was definately ripped off. i doubt ashida kim as any experience at all in martial arts. all his books stink and this one does the most.

A campy book about ninja camp
What a great title! The pretension that any book (especially one of only 173 pages) will elucidate "How to Become a Ninja" is such a ridiculous and ludicrous presumption that I was laughingly forced into buying it for a friend's birthday. And I have to say that I was not let down. The pictures themselves (most of some guy in a bathrobe doing awkward psuedo-martial arts moves) were enough to keep me amused for a long time. Moreover, the narrative of one ninja invading another ninja camp deliciously gives the book a plot on top of its faux-educational slant. The obvious insights (such as navigating by the sun or by the north star) helped to round out the book in a slightly believeable way. Do ninjas really exist? Maybe. Does Ashida Kim really know any martial arts at all? Who cares; my guess is that Mr. Kim (if that's his real name) set out to weave a delightful tale of fantasy which would cater to every 13-year-old boy who has dreamnt of beating up the local bully. At this task he succeeds. A great gag gift!
