A+++ As a book to read to elementary school students
As a librarian at an elementary school, The Teeny Tiny Teacher won rave reviews with the children when I read it to them. The children loved to repeat the teeny tiny ghost's chant, "Give me my bone!" Books that have a catch phrase like this, are great in keeping the children's interest. The kids especially enjoyed the pictures and seeing how stepping stones were actually Scrabble tiles, pencils held up the school's porch, a postage stamp of the president was hung on the school wall and all the other wonderful school supplies which were intermingled within the story. It is definitely an exciting tale and is very popular at my checkout desk.

Where She Stops, Does Anyone Know?
This rhyming book tells the tale of Engine Number Nine on a destination unknown. Along the way a variety of passengers are picked up; from farmers and their pigs, to mothers and their crying babies, to an entire marching band. Where is the train full of motley passengers going? That's the simple riddle in this easy to follow story. The colorful illustrations are fun to look at and add a dash of flavor to this playful book.

train ride to the fair, rhyming text
Rhyming text about people and farm animals getting on the passenger coach (led by a steam train). We know not where they are going. Finally it is revealed that they are going to the fair. Animals walk upright and eat cotton candy and do other human activities. All get on the train and snooze for the train ride home. I love the rhyming text, the fact that it is about a train ride, and that they are going to a fair. Trains and fairs are two of my son's favorite things so this book is a big hit in our house!

My only complaint that I must voice is that one rhyme is about a small baby who is crying and kicking, and baby is shown miserable with tears running down his face and mouth open, howling, and the mother is looking down and smiling proudly at the baby. I think that is a bit sick and don't think it belongs in the book. I don't like images of babies crying and portraying that as normal behavior and I especially don't like that the mother is happy and smiling while the baby is crying and not doing anything about it. Nurse that baby or do whatever is necessary to address baby's need and/or soothe the baby! I really want to teach my children compassion and that tending to a baby's need is important. For that reason alone, I reduce my rating to 4 stars; otherwise it would have been 5.

Easy to read again and again
This is one of our 2 year old's favorite books. She will sit still for this one with all its rhyming and detailed illustrations of a train that picks up various passengers on the way to the county fair. As parents, we even enjoy reading "Engine, Engine" again & again......

The Frog Prince-aple Returns!
Mr. Bundy loves his school, but finds himself unexpectedly turned into a frog. While he waits to be returned to his normal self, he makes a deal with some students to let him, as a frog, be the principal while the "real" one is gone. The kids try to break the promise, just like "The Frog Prince" story, but Ms. Moore, a teacher, requires them to keep their promise. The students try hard to adjust to the new principal. Weeks go by, when one day, just as unexpectedly, Mr. Bundy is returned to his normal body. Well, almost normal. The illustrations are delightful; I especially liked the tie. This will be fun to read aloud. Be sure to compare/contrast with all the various Frog Prince versions out there for some fun activities.

The Frog Principal
In The Frog Principal, a Principal turns into a frog. I bet you are wondering how? Well, the frog pricipal decided to have an assembly. So he looked in the phone book and saw Marty Q. Marvel, Magician my marvil-ous magic will amaze you!!! He wanted to see
what he would do so he called him up and said ,'May I see your tricks'? The magician came and was supposed to do a math lesson, but instead he turned the principal into a frog. What was Stephanie Calmenson thinking? Well you will have to find out. I like this book because it is funny and imaginative.

Things Have Changed a Bit
I bought this book because I have so many memories of playing many of these games when I was a little girl, and I wanted to share that experience with my child.

I was a little disappointed because many of the words are quite different from how I learned them. But it is probably unreasonable for me to expect anything different.

If you can get past the fact that these games aren't 100 percent identical to how you played them as a child, you'll find this to be a really helpful guide.

Brings back memories!
This books certainly brings back memories of games played on the playground at recess. Although some of the words are different than I learned them, as expected for such widely used rhymes, I recognized quite a few. One disappointment was that there is no indication of the music to go with each rhyme. The authors did not provide an indication of the notes to sing or even that it sounds like a common song. Also, there are some lyrics that are inappropriate for young children and others that are very sexist or condescending. This book is not for everyone and I would certainly not hand it to a young reader without editing it or carefully supervising the language used by the children.
