This book is perfect for children who are just learning to read! The colorful illustrations on each page give the reader lots of clues to help them with their first attempts at reading. The book contains a review of the alphabet, pictures with labels (such as parts of the body), rebus stories, and stories made of only one, two, three, or four words. There is a lot of rhyme and playfulness which makes this book a joy to share with a beginning reader. As a first grade teacher, I plan on buying many copies of this book for my classroom to help my beginning readers feel SUCCESSFUL!

I give this book five stars because its the best book I've read. Also I like it because its funny. Although some parts were boring . There's something that I didn't like. The title didn't match the story. For people that are younger it would be a great book to listsen to. This book was funny because there were two boy gators and three girl gators that bothered each other and made up very funny jokes.

This is baisicly a joke book with very adorable illustrations!

Hopscotch the tiny bunny is lost and found again by a tiny mouse. They become good friends. The pictures are very good. The book teaches you never to run away.

I am a third grade teacher always looking for text to share with my students that will improve their writing skills. Hotter Than a Hot Dog! is packed with metephors, similies, descriptives, and action verbs that any child can understand. It is a good way to get children excited about writing and an excellent example to encourage students to include details that will make them better writers!

We originally borrowed this book from the library or I should say my child borrowed the book--she picked it up from the shelves by herself. We bought the book the next day! My child is four years old and she loves this book! We read this book at bedtime at least four times a week.

The illustrations are colorful and fun, having no problem engaging my child visually. The rhymes accompanying each letter is fun to read and my child has memorized all of them. This is great book to have in your home library under the "learning the alphabet" category. Purchase it when you find it!

Little Chick is a detlightful story, of a Little Chick. It is full of brightly colored pictures, and it has a wonderful story. I would recommend this story to anyone, including adults.

My daughter got this book as a birthday present from her grandma, and it's been a big hit. Marigold, a little bunny, has a day of fun with her Grandma. They buy Marigold a new hat, they feed the ducks, they go out to lunch, and get their picture taken. One of the lessons of the book is found in the story at the coffee shop. Marigold wants the lunch to be just wonderful, but she gets the hiccups, spills her drink, and forgets her table manners. She feels bad, but Grandma assures her that she is always wonderful. What a great lesson! Just what every Grandma is supposed to say about their grandchildren. I can really recommend this book, especially if your child has a special grandma.

My daughter craved stimulation as an infant. She loved simple finger play games such as pat-a-cake, but I couldn't remember the words or hand motions to many others (how DO you get from a steeple to a church full of people?). When I went to our local bookstore in search of a book on finger play rhymes and directions, the clerk couldn't praise this book enough. Joanna Cole's books are EXTREMELY easy to understand, with step by step caricatures picturing hand placement and motion. My now three year old daughter enjoys looking through the book as well as singing the songs. This book comes highly recommended.

I have checked great numbers of these sorts of books out of the library and often find them to be disapointing, oversimplistic, or impractical. This book had a nice collection of games, rhymes, and craft activities, and seems worth the purchase.
