My Cool Reveiw 2
I liked this book it was very entertaing. This book has a very interesting plot and a chilling ending. Tyce Sanders who has been visiting earth was the first kid born on Mars.He is now coming home.Tyce has also been in a wheelchair all his life, and now he might be able to walk for the first time since he was a baby.Of course, there is a down side to all of this.Tyce might lose robot control as a result to the operation he had done.Wait! This plot gets better. An evil Manchurian fleet is folowing their spaceship. What will happen? I happen to think this is not the very best Mars Diaries book, but it is interesting.

A Promising Beginning
Tyce Sanders is your average 14-year-old kid. Except for one thing. He just happens to be the only kid on the experimental station on Mars. In fact, he was born on Mars and has never been to Earth. However, when the station starts getting low on oxygen, he and the others may not live to see the next supply shuttle. Tyce must use his knowledge and virtual reality skills to solve the problem.

Sigmund Brouwer has created a promising character in Tyce. I was most interested to learn of Tyce's disability. The setting is realistic sci-fi, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this world. My only disappointment was in character development. Tyce, as narrator, is well developed, but the other characters are overlooked. A little longer book would have helped with this, but I'm sure with the base of this book, other chapters in the series will add to the other characters, too.

Fast paced kid's book that an adult can enjoy!
A group of small town kids travel to the ancient ruins at Chitzen-Itza, in Mexico's Yucatan jungle, and break up a smuggling operation. Not likely in the real world, but this is a KIDS book. I got this book for my 11 year old daughter, but decided to read it first. I was very impressed by the accuracy of Sigmund's descriptions of Chitzen-Itza. Having poked around there myself a few years back, reading this story made me feel like I had returned. Even though this series was written for the 8-12 age group, I found it an enjoyable read. And I'm 40 years old.

Bitter irony?
In the tale, kids laugh at two Brasilian brothers with big noses. Their mentor enlarges girl's ears and boy's hands and feet and makes them go to the marketplace to buy beans from the brothers. Everybody laughs at them - why? Because Brasilians are mean? They get the beans and take the big-nosed brothers with them - to make their noses smaller! Do you get it? So big noses are really bad, and unless you get a nose job, everyone will laugh at you. "A story about prejudice" is written on the cover. Indeed!
