Dark carnival stories probe the limits of humanity
It's difficult to easily categorize these dark works of fantasy: they are short stories written by such notables as Ray Bradbury, Michael Bishop, Nina Kiriki Hoffman and others, blending literature and art and all based on the strange kinetic sculpture Crowded After Hours by Lisa Snellings. Dark carnival stories probe the limits of humanity.

Colourful ode to Warner Brothers animation
This is an excellent and richly illustrated book on animation at Warner Brothers. It contains a lot of background information on e.g. Carl Stalling's music, the styles of the different directors, inside jokes, war cartoons, forgotten cartoon characters and so on. The joy of reading this book is only surpassed by watching the Warner Brothers cartoons themselves.
Very good survey historical and technical survey
While writing an article for the Talaria Enterprises Museum Store's new release of Looney Tunes sculptures, I turned to this very informative book. It discusses the history and impact of the Looney Tunes characters from historical, technical, and theoretical perspectives. Very Good Sourcebook!
A great resource for WB cartoon buffs.
First, I have to confess that I am a card-carrying adult who still watches cartoons every Saturday morning. As an adult, however, I'm now interested it the history of the cartoons I watch. (It makes me feel more...sophisticated about my cartoon viewing.)
"That's All Folks" has incredible full-color pictures, chronicals the history of WB cartoons, provides specific information about the most popular characters and cartoons, AND includes a filmography of WB cartoon releases. If you like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the gang, you should have this book.

A must for horror/vampire fans
This novel brings together works of so many amazing talented writers: Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Anne Rice, Tanith Lee, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Algernon Blackwood, Joyce Carol Oates...just to name a few! Be on the lookout for "Count Dracula" by Woody Allen; whether you love him or hate him, this short story is a hoot!
This one lets you sink your teeth into some quick, sometimes chilling, sometimes humorous, sometimes just plain weird vampire stories. It will also introduce you to some incredible authors, and I bet you'll race to buy more of their works. Wolf breaks down this collection into categories: The Classic Adventure Tale; The Psychological Vampire; The Science Fiction Vampire; The Non-Human Vampire; The Comic Vampire; and The Heroic Vampire. Horror and vampire fans will recognize some of these stories (King's is an excerpt of SALEM'S LOT) from other novels or collections. But this one is a tasty treat (yes, all puns intended) that I found delightful!

Excellent Collection of Stories
I great collection of modern vampire stories. Several of the stories are actually chapters from longer novels, which only entices the reader to read those novels too. Wonderful read, but with the lights on!

Great, excellent short story!
I really enjoyed this story by Ray Bradbury because anyone can interpret it in many different ways. I mean they can get many different lessons from it. Every differet person gets a different lesson from it.
One of the best Short Stories I've ever read
There is a publishing company my school has been reading lately. It is the Tale Blazer publishing company. This story is just one of many by them. I love this book. It is an easy read, and it teaches you a lot.

Raves for Ray
Many of my favorite short stories are Ray Bradbury's, and "The Pedestrian" and "There Will Come Soft Rains" are only two of them.
"The Pedestrian" is, as is all Bradbury work, written with such imagery and detail that the reader actually experiences the story instead of just reading it from the outside. When you pick up this story, you become a pedestrian yourself, in this case a loner, a minority of minorities. Without giving away the end, you -as the reader / pedestrian- experience just a bit of what happens to those who go against the grain of what's popular and acceptable. But Bradbury leaves enough questions at the end that there is still hope, even in such a dire situation.
"There Will Come Soft Rains" is -also standard Bradbury- at odds with typical short story style. In this case it is that the main character is an inanimate (sort of) object: a house. This story is a wonderful / awful prediction of what may become of us as a global society, combined with the ironic twist involving the title.
I love both of these stories and used them to teach many things about literature, grammar, writing, history, and philosophy to 7th graders, who were riveted by the stories and were drawn into critical thinking before they knew what hit them.

a futeristic house is all that is left after a nuclear bomb
It was fascinating. The story had no plot, but was extremely entertaining.
It had extreme detail. Which catches your attention.

How to make the bizarre believable
Almost all stories contained in this volume have strangely weird premises. Almost all characters are truly odd or at least genuinely quirky. Almost all plots have surprising twists and strain the reader's imagination. And yet, each story is believable, is frighteningly real, and of a bizarre, almost grotesque beauty, combining playful fantasy with profound issues revolving around family and society, and I found myself rooting for the disillusioned outsider again and again. The tragedy is poignant and bittersweet - a real feast to read.
bradbury in my ear!
Ray loves words like a father loves his children. He caresses his images and then holds out his hand to you. What a trip he has in store. Come along!
