Tweedy Birds
"Birds" is a playful and intriguing collection of the author's observations and take-offs on the names, habits, and environments of various birds. Each page is a visual pun, an arrangement of letters making a picture as inclusive as the proverbial thousand words. Birders, poets, artists, teachers, children, typesetters, take special note. This book is unique, and magical.

In the tradition of the great 19th cent. folios.
"The Birds of Paradise and Bowerbirds" is not just a book; it is a work of art, and a book-lover's delight. Executed in the tradition of the great 19th cent. bird folios of John Gould and J.J. Audubon, Cooper's paintings must be seen to be fully appreciated. His birds live and breathe on the page, and one can almost feel the humidity of New Guinea and northern Australia as the background of each plate is studied. With expertly written text by Joseph Forshaw. Although this enormous book is difficult to find and expensive, it is well worth the money and effort expended in securing a copy

One of the best guides I've seen for birds in the Southwest
This book provides color photographs, in-depth descriptions, and migration/nesting habits of many birds in the southwestern US.

Bird species include water birds, birds of prey, hummingbirds, songbirds, etc. that residents or visitors to the southwest may encounter.

The book is very well organized and is useful as a quick reference when viewing birds.

Your children will love this fun little story
This book tells of a little duck who ventures out before springhas fully arrived and finds that it's a cold, cold world. Eventually, spring breaks, and the little duck goes on her merry way. This storyhas many accompanying motions that your children can act out as you read the story. Also, the words are very large and in bold print, making it easy for young children to read it. A great addition to your child's library!

Most Authoritative Book about Loons
Judy McIntyre is one of the world's authorities on loons. This book reflects not only the wealth of her technical knowledge about loons (written in a very readable style!) but also personal glimpses into the lives of loons from someone who has spent years studying them in their natural environment AND in captivity. It's a fascinating read!

Florida's Fabulous Birds
This is an excellent book for the Florida bird watcher. It has large color photographs of the birds in their natural habitats. Often with more than one picture of the species! There is just enough information included to answer common questions. I use this book in my classroom and the elementary aged students find it useful and easy to use.

I have also used Florida's Fabulous Butterflies. Same excellent quaility!

Wonderful book
This was a wonderful book. I had to buy it for an ecology class on the Everglades, but it was well worth it. It has beautiful large color illustrations, and descriptions of the various water birds of Florida. A great investment whether you plan to visit, like I did, or just to enjoy the book by itself. Really useful in identifying birds, especially wading, in the cypress swamps, as well as the entire Everglades water shed. A must buy.

This cookbook has something for everyone ...
Uncle Bill shares his delicious family favorites and more with us in this cookbook, but he takes it one step higher. He includes the nutrient analysis for every ingredient of every recipe and then gives totals. It makes it easy to figure out nutritional values even if you substitute or omit ingredients.

There is something for everyone here: ethnic recipes (Russian, Ukrainian, etc.), vegetarian recipes, low fat and low sodium recipes (he developed for his wife, Jackie), easy recipes for the novice, and more complicated for the experienced cook. He gives wonderful variations on themes and a world of choices. There are even several recipes for your canine pals!

The pictures alone will make your mouth water, but all of the recipes we have tried have turned out just as beautifully as the photos and delicious, too!

The book comes in several forms: Spine bound, wire bound, and computer disk -- but no matter which format you are using, you are sure to find some new family favorites!

My family heartily recommends both the Crabmeat & Corn soup and the Cannelloni with Meat. Both are sure to please.

The Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies which reminded me of the warm-from-the-oven cookies my mother used to serve us for after-school snacks are worth the price of the book alone! A glass of milk and a plate of these will make your day!

Charming book about a charming (if a bit noisy) subject
This is one of the finest pet books ever written; it doesn't sound "canned," as so many books on pet care do. The author's enthusiasm for these most enthusiastic of pets comes through. He gives enough anecdotal information to hold the reader's interest but backs it up with solid facts and how-to's on the care, taming, training and breeding of halfmoon conures. For instance, he is very honest about the noise factor: dwarf parrots of all species can be raucous! The chapter on other popular dwarf parrots is necessarily abbreviated but informative enough to "do" until the reader could find a book on his particular pet. (Bates and Busenbark's PARROTS AND RELATED BIRDS, recommended in this book, would be an excellent choice for that reader). All in all, a delightful read.
