A sexologist cum poet....I don't think so
A fun peek into the bawdy and whimsical world of Limericks
This book offers a fun peek into the bawdy, the whimsical, and the often absurd world of limericks. Bob's verses take a good-natured poke at the numerous situations, tales, and observations he has created, mostly based on various elements and aspects of human sexuality. I recommend it to any adult who can appreciate this type of humor.
GREAT FUN
Lots of chuckles and a few good belly laughs. Not a book that you want to read all at once, but if you pick it up once in a while and read a few, you'll find most of the limericks are fun and most quite bawdy. I'm buying a couple copies to give as gifts.

Don't Buy
Totally unreadable for beginners of acupuncture.
Even for a practitioner, one may get really
confused. Translations of Chinese and Japanese
words are lost in essence. Attemp to compile
a book according to the Japanese style of publishing
acupuncture books does not do good service to
American readers.

Excellent review of extraordinary vessel theory and practice
This is an well-researched, clearly presented work on the eight extraordinary vessels, which represent the deepest level of energetics in chinese medicine.
The book's first section covers vessel trajectories and classical chinese treatments. There are a lot of valuable quotes from the classics here to help you understand the nature of each vessel, as well as symptom/point combinations.
The second part of the book covers modern japanese extraordinary treatment strategies, especially those of Dr. Manaka, who was Kiiko Matsumoto's teacher.
This is a great reference book for any practicioner or advanced student of acupuncture, I highly recommend it.

Not funny, not amusing, not worth the postage
These "limericks" live up to the Webster definition of Bawdy : they are often obscene, indecent, and salacious. Not a single chuckle nor the slightest mental stimulation is contained in these poems. The words are not suggestive and the limericks are not playful, they are simply graphic. Save your money.
PURE FUN
If you're an adult and you enjoy bawdy limericks, you'll enjoy this book... it will have you asking for more.

OK, I'd rather not buy.
I was very disappointed by Extraordinary Vessels, but
this one is a-OK. However, the Style of writing is again all
too confusing. Does not really explain
the fundamental of acupuncture
concisely way. Lack of translations of each Chinese/
Japanese characters would not really help.
I do not recommend for students of acupuncture.

So so book
Somewhat a better book than Extraordinary Vessels, but
still failed in explaining the basic acupuncture philosophy.
Too many quotes from too many different classics. Failure to
provide Chinese and Japanese characters and the lack of clear translation of each of the words do not really help readers
to understand the essence and fundamental. It could have been
a better book, but it is not.

A modern classic
This is a great book for people who want to know more about 5 phase acupuncture. I have owned this book for about 3 years, and have gone back to it over and over. Each time I pick it up, I find something new. While some "cookie-cutter" approaches to 5 phase styles are presented, there is also enough theoretical meat to keep the reader interested. Great book to have in your collection!

Still not worth the postage
Still more of the same here as in "More Improper Limericks: Thirty Dirty Ditties" These poems are graphic and devoid of playfulness. This book does not do justice to the limerick form. There is no cleverness, no entendre, let alone double entendre contained in these lines. Save your money.
MOSTLY FUN
Found some funny ones, some clever ones, and most not "graphic."
Still more fun Limericks from Mr. Birch .....
In this book, Mr. Birch offers his third limericks collection, which contains various tales, observations, and situations, mostly dealing with various aspects of human sexuality. I recommend this (and his other two limerick books) to any adult who appreciates the bawdy, whimsical, and sometimes absurd style and content of the traditional limerick.

Anyway, I highly recommend this curious art form, but get something from a writer, and not from someone who, in his effort to approach this juicy subject matter in a direct way, makes you wish he had written around it instead of straight in it.
