(note: rating is actually 4.5) I absolutely fell in love with Forlorn Hope when I first read it several years. It is such a hard to book to find, probably due to a lack of popularity. But, as a "spare time writer", I can tell you that many books go that route. You miss out on a lot of golden books in stores by going for big name authors (i.e. Michael Crichton and Stephen King). This is one of those books. It absolutely was a blast, and I've gotten many of my friends to read it. They enjoyed it as well. (another note: it's only 4.5 because he hasn't written the sequels to Forlorn Hope!)

The book contains about 88 pages divided into five sections. The sections are Environment, Nutrients, Rooting Medium, Hormones, and Cuttings. The book contains several hand sketches.

The book is well written and covers many fundamentals about growing plants indoor. Also, it's original information. This book is not just a re-write from Van Patten's other book, "Gardening Indoors with HID Lights". It is completely different information. All new writing.

This is a solid beginner's guide. Although, the book does make the process sound way too simple. In my first attempt, all my cuttings died. Yes - I did follow the instructions. But it's not as simple as it first looks. It takes several attempts to get good at propagating plants.

I wish the book had a troubleshooting section. Answering questions like, "why are my little plants turning yellow?"
It's a small book, but packed with information. A good value.

This edited book, which is composed of six chapters, provides a very nice discussion of the international or global political economy in the post-Cold War era. It is not a book for everyone, though: most of the chapters are written from a "critical" (as in Critical Theory) perspective, and some are extremely abstract and abtruse. Still, for those who wish to get a deeper, theoretical understanding of globalization and the world economy, this is a book for you. One of the most interesting aspects of the book, which is reflected in several of the chapters, is the discussion of how Karl Polanyi's ideas about the 'double movement' can be used to analyze the global political economy today. James Rosenau's chapter, in this regard, is particularly interesting. Other contributors, all of whom are prominent scholars in the field, include Bjorn Hettne, Robert Cox, Stephen Gill, Kees van der Pijl and Yoshikazu Sakamoto. Cox's chapter entitled "Critical Political Economy" is especially useful as an introduction to the relationship between Critical Theory and IPE.

This book has everything you want to know about James Van Der Beek and dawsons creek. It has many cool picture of James and other co-workers with him too!

The Myrtlewood Grove explores the relationships and history of one of America's most interesting times--the wild and untamed country of Oregon. This book combines in-depth characters with a large amount of history. The combination of accurate and fictional characters is very well done. The book grabs you from the beginning and begs not to be put down until it cresendos to an exciting climax.

At the time (the mid 80s) this book (cobbled together from The Prisoner Files) was the ONLY guide to The Pisoner available in the US. As such, it has historic (not to mention nostalgic) value for me. When I read it, I kept having flashbacks to the time I first saw The Prisoner back in the late 70s. The only drawbacks to the book are the typos and occasional duplicated lines (and, if I recall correctly, a couple of duplicated paragraphs!) However, when it comes to The Prisoner, it's the content that counts, and Mr. Van Hise did a good job of covering this, THE GREATEST TELEVISIONARY SHOW OF ALL TIME (wanna fight about it?)

If you find this old out of print book in a used bookstore, get a copy. It is good wisdom on using the power that is within every one us existing as untapped potential to do almost anything. There is information in this book on

I have never seen a book that has so much information, it is like the ultimate self-help book! Almost 300 pages of perfect wisdom. It is hard to disagree with even a single thing mentioned in this book. I guess since I am not into publishing, I don't understand why such great books as these don't really become that popular. Don't be deceived the appearances of this book (not a single picture anywhere in the book including the cover, there is a picture of the author on the back cover though), start reading from anywhere in the book and make up your own mind. I hope you enjoy this book as much I do on a weekly basis!

When news of the firing upon Ft. Sumter by General P.G.T. Beauregard reached James Bulloch, he offered his services to the Confederate government at once. He was assigned by President Davis to build a navy on government account. This book is Bulloch's narrative of his experiences.

The strongest element of this book is that it sheds light on what would otherwise be very little known facts of the war. Bulloch's contacts with Stephen Mallory and other high ranking Confederates give rarely seen insights into the service he and his fellow agents performed. It is important to note that Bulloch's work is not about the sea exploits of the ships he contracted, but about the work that was done in making financial arrangements and fitting the ships for sea. The author goes into a great amount of detail in all the contracts that he undertook while in Europe. He also adds accounts of other agents when needed, but always stresses to the reader that those accounts are second hand.

The reviewer's main complaint with this work is that a large section is devoted to the Geneva Arbitration occurring after the war. Bulloch seems to be rather defensive in regard to U.S. complaints made against him. Although fairly readable, this section of the book is not really necessary for understanding Confederate operations and does not advance the narrative. Another small complaint is that Bulloch will sometimes tell the reader of key elements far in advance of the narrative time frame. This can be frustrating, as what would have been an exciting twist in the plot has been alluded to eighty pages beforehand.

Only the above mentioned flaws kept this book from a five-star rating. It is a readable account of Confederate operations in Europe and highly recommended for any person who wishes to further their knowledge of the aforementioned.

Dr. Van Fleet's treatment for arthritis has proven effective for me. What first grabbed my attention was the fact that he wasn't trying to sell you some product that he sold. Everything he recommends taking can be bought at your grocery store or your health food store.
