The Bestest True Whale Story
I like whales really much. I have been studying whales for about 3 years. I am most knowledgible about the the giant creatures of the sea: like the blue whale, the bowhead whale, the right whale, the grey whale, humpback, fin whale, minke whale (all baleen whales), and the rest are toothed whales.

I liked "Baby Whale Rescue" because they saved a whale that was stranded without its mother for a week. I knew JJ from TV News, Seaworld, and from watch his release to the sea.

"Creatures" a Creative and Colorful Effort
Ms. Kopp finds something to love about all her subjects, from the "loveable beast" of a black bear to the "hairy, scary and misunderstood" taratula. With her wit and way with words she brings New Mexico's wild inhabitants to life. When and if we do encounter any of them, we'll be ready with increased understanding and appreciation. I'm looking forward to reading this book to my grandsons.

This book has all the information you need on Diabetes
This is an excellant book for the lay person. Although it is very technical I learned more about diabetes in the first few chapters than I have in the past year from many many different sources. It answers every question I have had since I was first diagnosed. I would really like to thank the doctor for writing it.

Lawd Today! (The Northeastern Library of Black Literature)
Published in Paperback by Northeastern University Press (July, 1993)
Authors: Richard Wright and Arnold Rampersad
Amazon base price: $15.95
Used price: $7.95
Average review score:

A style ahead of the author's time
Publishers turned down "Lawd Today!" when Richard Wright was alive. Reading it shows that they didn't appreciate its style. "Lawd Today!" is a fast-flowing look at one day in the life of a black man living in 1930s Chicago who is undone by his vices. Wright (who always felt himself to be an outsider) showed his dismay with the way many black people lived, not only because of discrimination, but because of their manners and mores brought north with them from Southern roots. The tale of a black postal worker draws on Wright's experience working in a Chicago mail-sorting facility (and after reading this you may understand why some people "go postal"). Set on Lincoln's birthday, Wright contrasts the morning reading of the Emancipation Proclomation over the radio with the decline and fall of his character. You might be unable to put down this book without finishing it - not because it is gripping, but because it moves fast and sure.

Two Outstanding Plays
In Madame Melville a man recalls the night he spent in Paris with his English teacher when he was sixteen years old. He is enthralled by her worldly wisdom and she is very lonely. The interaction between the innocent youth and the mature woman are wonderfully portrayed.

In The General From America Nelson explores the inner thoughts and external pressures that caused the most famous act of treason in US history. Benedict Arnold, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington, as well as Arnold's wife Peggy and his sister Hannah are all excellently developed characters.

Both these plays are a joy to read and captivating.
