Helpful.
This was helpful in understanding some of the abandonment feelings my friend is going through. It helped to understand some of the language she uses. It is a very helpful book and a very easy read.

An encouraging support tool in Abandonment Recovery
This book clearly defines the lessons/stages that are critical in the abandonment recovery process. I read this book to identify where I was in the process and it validated that I was on the right track. Worth the read if you are suffering from any sort of lingering or fresh abandonment pain.

Highly recommended for the non-specialist general reader.
Black Swan is designed for readers needing help with abandonment issues from childhood, as well as those currently dealing with love-loss. Susan Anderson uses an allegorical treatment approach to convent her twelve lessons of abandonment recovery developed over twenty years of research, clinical practice, and workshop experience. Black Swan is enhanced for the reader with a preface, postscript and two appendices. Each of the "twelve lessons" is clearly marked within the chapters, as well as outlined in the appendices making them readily accessible for further reflection. Black Swan is highly recommended for the non-specialist general reader struggle to cope with the emotional traumas of abandonment and loss.

Second part of an important book over Aztecs' civilisation
Here is the last part of Aztecs' History in CHIMALPAHIN's compiling. It's followed by a precious kind of calendar by CHIMALPAHIN himself. A prime material to understand Aztecs' meaning of life. I'm waiting for the 4 other books of this exceptional collection of indigenous testimonies (Please excuse my bad English: I'm an usual French writer)

An important book over Aztecs' civilization
There are many "Codices" about MesoAmerica. This one is presented as a translate of primitive nahuatl compiling of Aztecs' History. An important contribution to Mexican History. The total collection counts 6 books; two are now available.

Good for all
I first discovered this book on accident in a public library downtown. At first i didnt give it much thought but when i read a few of the beginning pages i was hooked. This is an all around good book. Its good all around becuase even if you dont believe in a god im sure you would still like it.

A woman's courageous soul reaches out for answers.
Susan Anderson tells her story with all the guts of the person I know she is. There is no holding back. This story will inspire any woman (or man) who is searching for their sense of self...and self worth. The brilliance of this book is that Susan eventually finds out who she is and what her purpose is on this earth. Something that still eludes many of us. Nancy Ediger-Stone

An excellent resource for any family!
This book is extremely well written and is a must have for anyfamily's bookshelves. It details childhood problems and helps parentsdecipher when their child's problems are "more than just a phase". I found it to be a huge help. Not only does this book discuss the symptoms of phases; it also describes how to treat these "phases". I really recommend this book for all parents, with children of any age.

Fantastic! This book was a big help for my family!
I especially liked the examples and vignettes given by the author(s). After reading this book, I was able to better recognize and deal with the behaviors my children were exhibiting. Thanks for a tremendous help and guide!

Tasty and Beautiful
I received this book as a Christmas gift and couldn't be more thrilled with it. The instructions are clear, the photographs beautiful and my results have been delicious. Thank you Ms. O'Connor for this wonderful addition to my kitchen library!

Phyllo, Easy Recipes for Sweet and Savory Treats
I purchased this book only because I wanted a recipe for Baklava. Imagine my surprise when I discovered you can use Phyllo in other food items such as: turnovers, puffs, strudel, and more. And not just for desserts, there are some wonderful Feta Cheese and fresh chive Phyllo Kisses that look alot like Crab Ragoon, without the crab. There are excellent photos throughout the book, for each recipe; recipes are easy to follow, as well. The book also explains how to handle Phyllo and how to store and reheat it. Excellent book.

an excellent resource and/or text for athletic trainers
I have used many sports medicine books, including Arnheim and Booher, and this is the book that I continue to use the most. Includes thorough etiologies, pathologies, signs and symptoms along with management skills that every athletic trainer needs. Great illustrations and photographs. My copy is literally held together with trainer's tape because I and my students use it so much. There is an excellent study guide that accompanies this book and it would be great if Amazon could offer it. The ISBN number is 0-683-00176-0 if that helps anyone.

Very well organized; great anatomy illustrations.
Years ago when I took my first athletic training course, I used Arnheim's book. It was all I had known until this book was published. I am currntly teaching an introductory athletic training class and am using this text book. I feel this book is much better organized and does a better job in the injury and rehabilitation explanations. It also makes very good use of anatomy illustrations, tables and figures. I would recommend this book over Arnheim in a heart beat.

A Must Have For Teaching Writing
I work as a writing specialist at an elementary school and I recently purchased this book to use with students in both primary and intermediate grades. Teaching Writing Skills With Children's Literature is packed with practical lessons to use in teaching the elements of writing. The lessons are well written and easy to use. Ms. Dierking and Ms. McElveen have done a fantastic job of bringing together literature and writing skills. Since purchasing my first copy I have bought two more to share with fellow teachers. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Outstanding
This Book was written by two teachers from my son's elementary school. They have given workshops about just this subject. FANTASTIC. Mrs Dierking is my sons first grade teacher. She is an incredible help to both her students and their parents. My son made honor roll and reads at level 18, he writes wonderful stories in his journal. The book that they have written is a fantastic guide for parents and teachers alike. Not that I'm partial or anything :0) ENJOY.

Filled with deep appreciation for daily intentional living.
Book Review: Warm Smiles from Cold Mountains, Dharma Talks on Zen Meditation by Reb Anderson

Have you ever wondered why so many Westerners are getting involved with the many facets of Buddhism? Have you ever wondered what's so different about it? Warm Smiles from Cold Mountains is a book that answers these questions in an easy to understand simplistic way. Through stories and his personal experiences, Reb Anderson gives us an opportunity to look at our journey with fresh eyes and different awarenesses. Warm Smiles is filled with deep appreciation for daily intentional living and being in each moment as it arrives.

Don't try to read this book like a novel; there's just too much there to ponder and you'll miss a great deal if you do. I believe you'll read it through once, perhaps twice then keep it handy for day to day use. One thing I do with inspirational books is to keep them next to my favorite chair and periodically just open to any page and read whatever is there. Often, if there's something troubling my mind or I'm attempting to sort out an issue, I'll just open to a page in a book of this type. As I read that page, I'll usually relax a bit, pay great attention to what I opened to and discover that all is solved and answers are given. This is a look into a mirror, take your time, allow it to resonate deep inside your Being, meditate with the pages of this book.

I want to thank Reb for giving me an opportunity to see that Buddhism creates no conflict with anything in my daily personal life or belief systems. I was particularly drawn to Chapter Eight, "Life Is Not Killed." What a delicious way of viewing life. I recommend you check it out for yourself; it truly creates "warm smiles."

A great help for ordinary people
I want to caution that this book is not exactly easy. It requires a little deep reading and thinking and it's not a beginner's book. It's a real help however to ordinary people like myself who live in the suburbs and try to practice Buddhism. Even though the author seems to have been a monk most of his life. The reason it is a help is that it presents an American background and understanding to the teachings of Suzuki Roshi (Zen Mind Beginner's Mind) which are often sort of alien and incomprehensible in the original. The book is also very warm like the smiles. To get some more insight into the title, you might want to check out Gary Snyder's Cold Mountain Poems, or the Burton Watson translation of Cold Mountain (Chinese Zen Poet Han Shan).

A book to help you live better.
I would like to start off by saying that you must read this book. Anyone who practices meditation will find this book rewarding--both seasoned practitioners and newcomers to the Buddhist path. The author has a special gift for relating the insights of traditional Zen teaching stories in a refreshingly contemporary manner. I felt like I was actually at the retreats as I read the stories. As mentioned elsewhere; Anderson, who teaches in the tradition of the great Zen master Suzuki Roshi, shows himself to be a worthy inheritor of this lineage and a powerful teacher in his own right.
