Looking with new eyes
A woodman begins to chop down a huge tree in the Amazon jungle but, the wood is very hard. The heat of the day and the lull of the insects put him to sleep. In his dreams he is visited by the animals, a child, and insects of the forest who explain their interdependency and the importance of the Amazon. They ask him to look at them with new eyes, with new understanding. When he awakens from his dream, he picks up his axe to resume his labor, looks at the animals and a child, pauses, puts down his axe, and leaves. Beautifully told. Wonderful illustrations.

EL REINO DE LA GEOMETRIA
THIS BOOK ADDRESSES THE TOPIC OF DISCRIMINATION IN A NOVEL AND CLEAR WAY TO CHILDREN. THE USE OF DIFFERENT GEOMETRIC FIGURES AND COLORS TO SYMBOLIZE DIFFERENT RACES, CULTURES, AND IDEOLOGIES IS SUPERB. I HAVE USED THIS BOOK TO TEACH MATH, PREJUDICE, DISCRIMINATION, CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF AND WORKING TOGETHER, TO MY K-5 STUDENTS IN BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH. MS ADA FLOR ALMA DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB OF BRINGING TO LIGHT A VERY DIFFICULT AND PROFOUND SUBJECT THAT KIDS NEED TO ADDRESS. I HOPE SHE WILL CONSIDER AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION.

A Is For The Americas
This wonderful picture book covers all the Americas: from A is for the Americas to Z is for Zuñi. The book explores the English alphabet as well as letters that the Spanish alphabet has in common with English, and it has informative entries for the Spanish Ch, Ll and ñ. Including the three letters the Spanish alphabet has but the Enlish does not is a nice touch;however, the text is only in English with excellent illustrations by Enrique O. Sánchez supporting the text. Spanish words and concepts are explained in English making this a good book for a child who is aquiring Spanish. A child who is acquiring English should also enjoy this text.

"There's always room for one more friend."
I teach kindergarten and this is a great book to use to talk about friendship and sharing. This book also reinforces sequencing.

Ant is lying in a hammock and one by one a larger animal comes by and wants to lay in the hammock with ant.

An engaging and lyrical book! The illustrations are great.
I've been reading this book regularly to my baby since she was 6 months old. She loves the lyrical poems and the illustrations are bold and bright. It never fails to capture her attention. The author has done a beautiful job with rhymes and repitition and the illustrator was trully talented! This is a book you'll want to read over and over

Perfection / La perfección
What a delight to find a rhyming book that emerges from translation as captivating as the original! This lovely book with cut-paper illustrations has entranced children as young as two years old, who delight in imitating the bird sounds and following along to call out "tilín, tilín" as the cat's bell warns off the birds he wants so much to catch. I fell in love with the book in English, but I consider the Spanish version a hallmark of translation at its finest. No one with whom I have shared either version has escaped its spell.
