Good for Healthcare Information Technology professionals
This is a very good text book if you are thinking about implementing any new information systems in your hospital may be you can go through this text book. You can choose any of the chapters according to your requirement and read them. There are very good chapters especially in how to convince the management about the need for implementation of advanced IT systems, systematic thinking about the IT systems, how to manage organizational concerns and user resistance with respect to IT, understanding social impacts and more important how to manage security and information privacy in health care. Each chapter starts with a fictional case study later there will some questions related to that, which you can answer to get very good insight into the case study and incites interest in you to further concentrate on the rest of the chapter. After which there will be some Commentary and Reading. Under Reading there are very good articles related to that particular chapter. Overall it is a very good text book for health informatics professionals.

A must-have for every God-fearing wife and mother
This is one of the best resources for any mother to have for training her children to be self-controlled, God-honoring adults. It is unfortunate that it is not more widely available. Mr. Abbott carefully and succinctly explains and with graphic illustrations defines our responsibilities as parents in the proper training of our children. Hopefully, more and more parents will see the value in this precious gem

Love it
I think I forgot how good the advertising for Volkswagen was. I mean, I guess our perception of the brand has to come from somewhere! This book has all the great ads from the 60's and 70's. I've been an ad-man for some time, and this book is pretty famous in our circles for being the first car ads (or any ads really) to be honest to the consumer. Most importantly I've been a VW owner for 15 years, and this book just reiterated to me why I continue to buy that brand again and again. This is for people in advertising, and for Volkswagen owners and/or lovers. I just happen to be both.

Bravo!
Congratulations John and Terry on a superb book. Finally the world can read about all these essential ideas, and may well get off its backside and make some changes. An excellent book, and absolutely necessary for anyone interested in education reform, how we learn, and what isn't been, but can be done to make good use of those wonderful 'muscles' we call brains.

For lovers of the Psalms
A large-format, hard cover Psalter, beautifully printed and bound. The text is entirely in caligraphy, and is printed large enough to be read from a few feet away -- as presumably the monks do as they stand and chant the Psalms, with the book on a stand in front of them. It is probably best used this way, and not held in the hands -- it can be held, but it is probably a little large and heavy to be held for long.

This book would make a nice gift for someone whose love of, and use of, the Psalter you would like to honor.

A Beautiful Psalter
I first heard of this book in the late 70's,when another surger in the late Thomas Mertons books was underway. This Psalter is a copy of the one used by the trappists of Our Lady of the Genesee in Piffard, N.Y... I t is a BEAUTIFUL,lovely to look at and hold copy of each of the 150 psalms, lovingly written in large,clean calligraphy.The book itself is big,and meant to be read from a short distance[as the monks do in choir]. a wonderful gift for anyone who loves the psalms, or liturgical prayer. Very ,very well put together.The short,concise intorduction done by Abbot John Eudes Bamberger is superb.{Of related interest is THE GENESEE DIARY by Henri Nouwen, available at Amazon,in which he describes 8 months spent at the Abbey of Genesee}

The Psalms Revisited
THE ABBEY PSALTER is a large attractive burgundy cloth hard cover book with stylized gilded lettering on the front cover. It reads: The Abbey Psalter. I like it for two reasons. The first is the beautiful, large easy-to-read print and also its fresh translation. Both lend themselves to "praying the psalms." I find it to be "a text ... artfully copied out by hand ... as to suggest something of a personal character that suits the meditative recital of the psalms, and something too of the peace and silence that monks seek to bring to their common prayer" (Foreward). Each of the 150 psalms begins with a larger red letter; there are no verse numbers to interrupt worship, merely diamond-style bullets. In addition to the psalms, the book includes: The Song of Zechariah, The Song of Mary, The Song of Simeon, and Revelation 15, which ends with, "All nations will come and worship you/ for your judgments have been revealed." The second reason I enjoy this book is because of the short but informative Foreward by John Eudes Bamberger, Abbot of the Genesee. He begins: "The Psalter is the prayerbook of the people of God." Thereafter, he quickly and clearly traces the history of the use of the psalms in the Catholic tradition. Furthermore, the book contains, "A Note on Cistercian Art" to accompany nine black & white full page illustrations scattered throughout the text: "Their motifs fall into two categories: stylized flowers and vegetation, and geometric patterns and interlace." This is a beautful and touching book. (I think I just might buy another.)

Wordy and Disappointing
I was very disappointed with this book. I found the writing style dry and the photographs/layout just not up to par. It almost seemed like somebody's thesis with som photos thrown in. Somebody needs to do a large format picture book on this subject with more about Jackie!

not enough for the money
The writing is dry. The pictures are not the best and it fails to show whnat the White House looked like before the restoration. Everyone says that it looked horrible so why not give the reader a taste of what was so wrong with it? If you can find the White House guidebook that was produced to pay for the restoration read that instead. It has much betters photos.

Superb!
A superb survey of the White House decor of President & Mrs. Kennedy. The book documents the ideas, process, decisions and choices behind the stunning interiors of the Kennedy White House-both the public and private rooms. What comes through the text is Mrs. Kennedy's leadership and vision - combining taste, history, beauty and great cunning - just to create and then manage this melange of egos, talent and intelligence was an accomplishment, and the results live on today (albeit not as beautifully or artistically). We all gained a greater knowledge and appreciation of our nation's historic and artistic past because of Mrs. Kennedy's work.

I've corresponded with Mr. Abbott and he's been most kind and interesting. He assisted in the current show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years," and there's a number of items on display relating to the White House decorations.

Read the book, catch the exhibit (it moves to the JFK Library in Boston in the fall).

This Abbott and Costello story is a rerun
Abbott and Costello fans be warned: this book shamelessly recylces and abridges material from earlier books, including Jim Mulholland's "Abbott and Costello Book" (1975) and Furmanek and Palumbo's "Abbott and Costello in Hollywood" (1991) in an offhand attempt to cover all of Bud and Lou's work. As a result, it covers nothing well. Other detriments: no index; numerous errors; the corny "theme of baseball" approach; a gushy, juvenile writing style suitable for nine-year-olds. Pick up either of the other books, which are vastly superior.

THE BOOK to read and own on Abbott & Costello!!!
I've read a lot of (good, medium and bad) books on Abbottt and Costello -- and this is the BEST e-v-e-r.

If you're just discovering Abbott and Costello (and a major movie is reportedly in the works so you will hear more about them) you'll discover in these lively, profusely illustrated pages why the team greatly inspired Jerry Seinfeld and others. If you're into comedy and want to learn about their techniques and routines, you'll get plenty of helpful analysis plus some superb transcripts of some of their most famous, classic routines. If you're a Baby Boomer and want to read THE ULTIMATE book to take you down a nostalgic path to your beloved childhood stars, this is all you need. Why? A few reasons:

1. It's filled with tons of bio material about their careers, long lively quotes, a complete listing of their movies, tv and other appearances.

2. It is not a fanzine book. It looks at the two, warts and all, dispells a few of the myths that grew up due to bad reporting and, in one case, apparently, a highly inaccurate Hollywood movie about them done nearly 30 years ago.

3. It traces their whole careers, their triumphs, the sad loss of Costello's drowned son (how he went on the radio nonetheless with his show), their split up, Costello going solo, his tragic untimetly death, Abbott's attempt to stay in show biz, Abbott's tax problems and final years.

4. It has the BEST interviews from people who worked with them and knew them.

5. It has the BEST photos, illustrations - even a full color section that is not available in any other book on them. We don't usually think about this team in color, even though they made two color flicks.

6. Its the BEST COLLECTION of info and the most UP TO DATE. This is basically a comprehensive rewrite (LOTS of new stuff) and expansion of an earlier book on them under a different title. I have both books now and will not part with either.

The biggest compliment of a show biz bio book is that you read it and you immediately want to re-examine the artists' work. You truly won't want to put this book down if you're a comedy fan, just discovering this team, or remember them. Save your money on the other books -- get, read and/or gift this. I'm an entertainer and I collect show biz bios...NO OTHER BOOK ON THIS COMEDY TEAM COMES CLOSE.

This book is on First!
Any true fan of Bud and Lou will be delight and even overwhelmed by the amount of great things found within these pages. There is no other book on the market which features such great pictures, interviews, and rare tidbits on Abbott and Costello. This is the difinitive book about the comedy team and the only book you'll have to search for if you enjoy old comedy teams from the vintage era. The FULL COLOR photography inside the book is worth the price of the book itself, not to mention the superb photo reproduction and page quality. The design is bright and easy to access, although I wish it had an index. A few typos in the book. The coauthors did a marvelous job putting Bud and Lou's career into perspective and paying tribute to their unique blend of comedy which traveled the spectrum of stage, film, radio, tv, cartoons, you name it. This is THE book to have. Don't pass it up!

historical hijinx
This book is lots of fun; it's full of howling puns and silly word play. At the same time, it's a real history of Rome (up to the death of Caesar), with all the facts as straight as they're ever going to be. I'm not sure I'd assign it to students with no knowledge of Roman history, but as a supplement to Livy or Cicero, it would be great.

Whitston Publishing Co., Inc.
"Craig Abbott's definitive descriptive bibliography of John Crowe Ransom, a poet securely placed among the dozen or so twentieth-century Americans who have achieved permanence in the canon, supersede and replaces T. D. Young's excellent pioneering annotated bibliography.... What truly distinguishes this book beyond its excellence as mere record is the inclusion at the beginning of most A-section entries (separate publications) of detailed publishing histories...."--The Sewanee Review

A pretty good read...
I was pleasantly surprised by this book and expected it to be a dud since there are so few reviews. But I'm happy to say, I enjoyed the book (and I didn't waste my money purchasing it).

The book focuses on a planned terrorist act and the detective work that was geared towards stopping it. The story was told well and interestingly, and the characters were three dimensional. The "bad guy" was cold-blooded, but still had a human-side. In other words, he didn't kill everyone that crossed his path, and he had something of a "life" other than killing. The author gave just enough glimpses of that to contrast with what has to be a sick mind in order to passionlessly kill people.

The author threw in a few plot surprises which added to the suspense, and helped to paint a clearer picture of the terrorist. The dialog was appropriate and not boring, and the author's writing style is good. And to make things better, the audio book reader was very good and made the book even more enjoyable. This is a book I'd recommend.

A good fast paced book with many twists involved.
I just got done reading this book....I really enjoyed it. It had a lot of twists and turns involved and a bit of humor. The question of the book is with a smart character, a few chemical drugs, and two govermental icons, with there lives ticking away....can they be saved in time? Who lives and who dies? Read and find out.....

action thriller - professional assassin after the President
Follow Sonny a professional political assassin and member of a secret terrorist group in his bid to murder the President of the U.S. The author did a commendable job in creating a charismatic and even likeable villain. Great page turner with lots of action although a bit Hollywood.
