My son and daughter - aged 5 and 7 love this beautiful little book. The concept of continuous doubling of the number of ants that keep returning to the nest intrigues them. Although the book stops at 512, my children insisted that we keep doubling the number "up to infinity". Well, we kept on doubling until we ran out of paper!! The illustrations are wonderful, complementing this terrific children's treasure.

my four- and five-year old children love this book. it's one they request over and over again when it's story-time at home after dinner or at bed time. they love the little ants who invade the neighborhood picnic and discover a treasure trove of treats that they eventually haul little bits back to their labarynthian home. each time they make the trip they bring more ants, each time doubling their number. my kids very painlessly learned their first multiplication lesson - doubling the number each time. a very cleverly conceived, thoroughly enjoyable book.

This charming, beautifully written and illustrated story helps young children understand the concept of "doubling" numbers. Each time the ants revisit the picnic, they bring more ant friends(in fact, exactly twice as many) to help haul the goodies back to their ant home. The simplicity of the story and each successive illustration with the ever increasing ant army subtly teaches the "doubling" concept. This is a must for any home library.

This is the perfect journal for those who do not know what to write in a blank journal. The journal is full of questions like "What are your deepest dreams?" and "If there was no tomorrow, what would you do today?". The journal helps get to know yourself better. There is a hidden, special message in the journal for you to find. I'm still trying to find that special message. This journal is very creative and eye-catching with Tom Bloom's unique illustrastions. Not only can you write your thoughts in the journal, but you can sketch them as well. I recommend this book! BUY IT! It's very inspiring and very creative/unique!

This book is simply fabulous. There are dozens of books out there that try to help you examine your life, but Bill Zimmerman's is different in that asks a number of thought-provoking questions without forcing you to make grand sweeping conclusions about yourself and your life. It's entertaining and Tom Bloom's illustrations are great. You'll enjoy this book more than you could imagine.

Of all of Bill Grossman's books, my 2 year-old loves this one best! It has a great rhythm. We read this book at least once a day. As I am reading, my daughter bounces or claps with the rhthym of the story.

It is a story about some very destructive kids who literally tear the interior of a house apart, but it is so much fun for my daughter that I am overlooking that for now. Too bad the book has limited availability right now.

At a glance this is a light weight book that might not appeal to some people who would find it helpful. The simple, joyful illustrations and the suggested actions are sources of healing. I was sorry to come to the end of this journal.

This book lends many ideas for journaling. From "My Most Precious Possession" to "People Who Give Me Hope." It is in a "guided" journal format, and is very easy to use. The soft-bound cover makes for convenient use. Excellent source for those who wish to record their precious time on this earth.

The first forty-three pages of Lunch Box Letters provide a guide and sample letters to help parents communicate with their children, "even grown children." The idea is simple, yet most of us do not think to add a quick "I love you" note that will be discovered later in the day, much to the delight of the recipient.

As the book says, "Written notes provide a complement to all the hugs and kisses your provide."

The next 75 pages are colorful papers with headers and graphics for writing the notes. These can be tucked inside a lunch box, briefcase, purse, or whatever. There are several birthday, Halloween, and Valentine pages for multiple recipients. As you tear out the pages the book will begin falling apart, but the confidence of the ones who get the notes will grow.

For the information, ideas, and colorful papers, this is well worth the cost. Who knows, it might just make your day as well. Five stars.

What a wonderful idea! We are always rushing around in the morning and sometimes I never have the chance to say anything "meaningful" to my girls before they start their day. I purchased Lunch Box Letters at a school book fair and have been using them faithfully everyday.

In the preface the authors share why they write to their children, and they include sample letters, special hints and lots of colorful notepaper to give your creative juices a jolt. Each sheet has a headline at the top ("I'm Sorry", "Almost The Weekend", "Let's Have Fun", "Happy Birthday", "You're A Terrific Kid", "Miss You", etc.) and ample space for you to leave your own message. A fun riddle is also included at the bottom. There are also some blank lined sheets in the back of the book.

I was also pleased to read the number of ways the authors suggest you use letter writing to communicate with your children. A small handwritten note can really give kids a much needed emotional lift and ease pressures at school. They even include sample letters for specific (and delicate) situations such as dealing with a personal loss.

I definitely think this book is worth a buy. The advice and ideas you glean from the authors alone is worth the price, as is the gentle prompt it gives you to set a great example for your kids.

A friend of mine gave me a copy of this book for my birthday. I read the book and found it very touching, It inspired me to try writing lunch letters to my children. Well let me tell you, it's amazing..I feel that the kids and I have developed a new communication skill overnight. I highly recommend this book........It's FANTASTIC!

i have used this book for my thesis paper concerning the legalization of marajuana for medicinal purposes and it was my lifeline. very factual and very informative!

The book is well-written by a Ph.D. and two M.D.s who have researched the subject thoroughly.
The book not only discusses the ailments that everyone knows marijuana is useful for treating (glaucoma, chemo sickness, etc.); but it also covers lesser-known medical and psychological problems that marijuana helps treat, such as depression, PMS, arthritis, Crohn's disease, and even its use as a "backdoor" drug to wean addicts off deadly substances like heroin and cocaine.
Topics also include the myths about the health dangers of this medicine, why this medicine is still illegal in the United States, how patients obtain this medicine, and the best way to take this medicine.
This book is a must-read for anyone who suffers from an illness that pharmaceutical drugs just aren't helping and for all DEA employees.

I am a PP&M fan, but this album left me cold. The selection of songs was relatively uninspired given the repertoire, but it was the vocal interpretations that made it a snoozer. Even one of my all-time favorite songs, "Stewball," was performed in such a weepy, sappy manner that it called for a fast forward.

The use of guest artists seemed like an afterthought. If you are going to use a John Sebastian or a Tom Paxton, why not feature one of their own great songs?

I suppose there are folks who will get into this. You know, the type who get teary eyed singing "Kumbaya" around a camp fire. But, with the exception of an upbeat one-time throwaway called "Virtual Party," this album was a virtual desert.

I wanted to add... I generally find the amazon.com music reviews quite good, surprisingly so in many cases. It's one of the reasons I shop here. However, to refer to "Home Is Where the Heart Is" as an "antihomophobia song" is pretty outrageous, in my opinion. That song is not *anti* anything. It is pure affirmation.
