A GREAT & TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO THE MAN WHO TOUCHED OUR LIVES!
This book has it all. Stories from fans, DeadHeads, personal friends, associates, etc. Touching anecdotes. Humor. Love. Peace. And of course...THE MUSIC! No matter what your story is or how you "got on the bus" you deserve to have the oppurtunity to read this book. I promise you, whatever your connection to the Dead is, there is a story in here expressing your feelings. AMAZING. Please buy it, it is well worth it. All DeadHeads need to read this book (although I feel even someone who didn't even like the Dead would find this book equally amazing). I cannot say enough good things about this book. When I got through with my copy, I gave it to a friend because I was so touched I had to do something generous. Keep the "Unbroke Chain" alive my friends. Peace!

A fun read -- and useful information, too
There's something most of us find fascinating about the lineages of persons of note, whether they're royalty, U.S. presidents, movie stars, military leaders, or literary and historical figures like Pocahontas and Louisa May Alcott. The Virginia ancestry of the Queen Mother is relatively well known, as are the New England cousins of the late Princess of Wales and the Duchess of York -- but did you know Elvis Presley, Jimmy Carter, and Jesse Helms are all collaterally related? Roberts is probably the leading expert at this sort of thing, especially when it comes to uncovering surprising connections, like the British royal descent of Karl Marx's wife (whose grandmother was Scottish), and he carefully lays out examples of what might be called "genealogical evolution," demonstating that genealogy really is inclusive, not exclusive. Many British, European, and American contemporaries are much more closely related than we often realize. There are also a number of descents contributed by guest columnists which maintain the same high standard of documentation.

a wonderful guide
I found this book to be really fascinating. Living as I do next door to the U.S., and having some familiarity with American politics and government, I found this book filled so many gaps in my knowledge so succinctly that I would think many Americans could profitably refer to this over and over again. The ridiculous election of 2000 filled many of we foreigners with confusion of how the self-appointed 'World's Greatest Democracy' could have such a baffling 'system' of electing the president and vice-president, and this book helped me so much understanding the complexities of what was going on. I commend the authors heartily for conceiving of such a book and filling it with so much information...the Supreme Court cases are marvels of conciseness. I hope that if you're interested in American Government, be you student, teacher or just an interested citizen, you buy this book. It's a steal at the price.

Great Reference Source
As a teacher who prepares high school seniors for the AP Government and Politics exam, I found this to be a quick, concise, yet comprehensive guide to the major/minor aspects of the US Government. Makes a great stepping stone to further research by virtue of the end notes that accompany each entry. As usual, OUP does it again.

Easy to use and informative
This book covered children's health from birth to teenagers. It was able to easily clarify whether or not to bring a child to a doctor. There were good descriptions and illustrations of ailments, as well as an easy-to-use index. I would recommend it to any new parent as a reference manual.

Richard Komp: physicist, historian, and social engineer
Practical Photovoltaics is one of the finest, most comprehensive guides to the world of solar energy. The book starts with a beginer's course in solid state physical devices (which taught even an Electrical Engineer such as myself new things) and leads into the history of solar cell materials and procedures over the years. Next comes an in-depth discussion of the various types of materials, and how they are suited for different applications. He makes logical predictions about the future of some of these materials, and hints around at what new techniques scientists are starting to look at today.
In the appendix, he even describes how to assemble your own array of solar cells for those who wish to try a hands-on approach to learning.
Oh, yeah, one more thing: he has a decent list of recomended readings at the end of each chapter, allowing you to select topics that interest you to continue your reading.

Very informative.
This book was written just after Congress's experience with President Nixon and contains much that was learned then. Indeed, in the acknowledgements, researcher's Hillary Rodham and Bernard Nussbaum are thanked for their helpfulness.

The most precise and beautiful information available.
John Richards monograph on the genus Primula is the best book I have seen on the subject. I work with primroses every day and it would be much more difficult without this clarifying volume. The theoretical background is sound, the disposition is easy to follow and the illustrations are both informative and pleasing to the eye.

The human body in a book
Wonderfully intense and extensive, yet well thought out and applicable. Extensive references allowing easy cross-bridging of information. Applicable from the most simple to the most complex concepts. Probably too deep for the average non-medical person, but easily lends self to anyone willing to study the material. I love it, and I am looking forward to an updated edition.
