Mixes the details of gymnastics with a beautiful story
Anda is an energetic British girl who drives her parents crazy with her insistence on climbing things, jumping on things, and crashing into things. For her tenth birthday her grandmother enrolls her in a gymnastics club, where she discovers that she's both talented and dedicated. But her training puts her parents in debt, and she vows to win a scholarship that will cover the costs of her classes.

This is a beautifully written story that mixes both the technical details of gymnastics moves and routines with the very human feelings of a ten-year-old. Gymnasts will enjoy reading about things that they do on the floor, the beam, the bars, and the vault; others will simply enjoy Anda's strength, determination, and competitive spirit. Just be aware that the book was written by a British author and as a result, some of the terminology/moves is a little different from what most American readers are used to.

A good book for gymnasts
I read this book when I was younger (though already a gymnast) and enjoyed the rather realistic portrayl of the sacrifices and dedication that being a serious gymnast requires. I recommend to young gymnasts.

The book that turned me into an author...
My dad picked this book up for me at a book fair in second grade, saying it was "Time I started reading books a little more dificult". I was apprehensive (it was a huge book in my 8 year old hands...) but after I started it...I couldn't put it down. It was written at about a 6th grader's level and I read that battered book from 2nd grade to 7th grade until I lent it to a friend and it was lost. I hope to be able to find it somewhere! Please print a second edition!!

A diary of a pregnant girl who thinks she's in love
What Kind of Love?, written by Sheila Cole, is a diary about two people in love with each other. Valerie falls in love with Peter, and she thinks Peter loves her too. Then Valerie notices that she has not had her period for three months so she decides to try a home pragnancy tester. Valerie, fifteen,is now well aware that she is pragnant. Peter purposes and they together try to get married. Both of their parents think it is an outragous idea. Peter's parents forced him to go to Los Angeles to graduate. Will Valerie get married and give birth to a baby at age fifteen? How will their strict parents take the idea of them getting married and having a baby? Well, I guess you will just have to read the book to find out what happens! I loved reading this book because it had a page or two of entries. It was nice cause you would be less likely to stop in the middle of a chapter, when with this book, you wouldn't have that much more to read. I thought it was a nice change. I hope I gave you enough motvation to read this terrific book. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because I didn't like the ending. Although, that is just my opinion, you might love the ending. Thank you for spending your time reading my review!

The best book I've ever read on a pregnant teenager.
I think this book was very good. It is the kind of book that you could read all day non stop. It was in the form of a diary; she told you what she did day by day and it seems each day she was faced with different problems so it leaves you wondering what's going to happen next. It's very realistic and I can relate to some of the things that she was facing. It a good look at someone trying to make hard decisions.

Wow,how interesting and so true
This book was great!! It really told the truth about the things you could go through if you were pregnant. And if it was not enough money to go around in your family for you and your future child. It tells you the problems that Val went through with her boyfriend and how in the end he really didn't want anything to do with her and her baby. Because he had a full life ahead of himself. In the end how it came to a big decision that Val had to make on her own. This was a very true book about what most pregnant girls go through everyday in there life.I think every girl should read this if they are thinking of getting pregnant and make sure that there boyfriend will be there for them in along run.

How would you like to show off?Have you every shown off?
Have you every shown off? Well this girl name veronica does not like school so she shows off
so her teacher can call her parents so she can go home instead of being in school. Veronica went back to school and got suspended for showing off. Veronica went back to school three days later and two days after that she got expelled.

Veronica the show off it is a good book because it teaches you something that can not get you in trouble with your friends. Veronica shows off all the time. If you showed off like she did you would get what she got in trouble.

It was a good book because it made me want to read more because it was funny and had intrusting words in it. It has a lot of pages and all of them had a big word on each page. That is what helps you in school you can use most of them words in school.

From Veronica's fan
I read Veronica the Show Off which is a great book to read because it is not too short or too long. The story is about Veronica trying to make new friends at her new school, but is she showing off? That will be up to you to find out.
When she finally found someone who liked her as a friend, she didn't think that she wouldn't be friends with the girls she liked. Veronica is a little imaginative because she makes up wild stories about her life and what she owns. This book is great for road trips.

THis is an excellent book.
I first read this book when i was about 10. I could really relate to Veronica in that i was lonely and wanted people to like me, and i thought it was cool the way she wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. This book covers a lot of things that young kids go thru growing up. It's a must-have!

Battling all kinds of slimming programs!! Great book!
Okay... no one else is gonna read this after me, but since I've just read it I may as well put this in...
People (women actually) try all kinds of things to slim down. Lois is fat, and the truth is she's not all that desperate to get slim. But her mother, the famous actress Sharon Long, is sick of being humiliated by the media of her fat daughter. Because of this, Lois has to turn to a psychiatrist, a hypnotist, a fat farm, and a gym (and some other things but I can't quite remember now).

This is a story you can enjoy because of the humour and conversations. The ending was a good fantasy and although I enjoyed it it was also - to me - just fantasy, but then that's what books are about. Look for it if it's out of stock here. I found it at a bargain price at a bookstore. I hope if you read it, you'll enjoy it!

clever and funny
I expected a book that features a heart shaped locket on the cover to be, well, schmaltzy. But this is actually clever, and fairly realistic.
Blissful Joy wants to be everything her actor parents aren't: practical, organized, and sucessful. At the top of her class, she is thrown for a loop when she receives a bad score on the PSAT's. With the SAT's looming ahead of her, she knows she must do better to get to an Ivy League. However, in finding a dog, she is taken on a journey of self-discovery wherein she learns she isn't so different from everyone else afterall.

Wonderful detail and stunning dolls!
Lettie Lane paper dolls are some of the most detailed dolls I have ever found! There are lots of accesories that come with each doll, hats, parasols, etc. Some of them even have extra dolls, like a nurse maid for the toddlers and a grandmother for the little ones. I think these are almost better than the originals! A great purchase, get your siscors ready folks! I bought these when I was younger at the Vanderbuilt Mansion Gift store, even then I was stunned by the beauty of these dolls!

polly pratt paper dolls
the first thing i need to say is that polly pratt is a paper doll set not a book. it is a large collection of young girls and a few boys, with lots of outfits and toys. if you like paper dolls this is a good set. if you like this set, the artist also drew "lettie lane" and "more lettie lane" but the charactors are drawn smaller so you can't use these 3 sets together. i prefer polly pratt to lettie lane.

The Incredible Journey
When I was looking through my Library I found a book called the Incredible Journey. What first caught my eyes was that there was the cat on the cover. I decided to read the first chapter of the book and I thought this book was okay, then I read the next chapter. I also thought this book might be interesting because my brother read this book and he said it was good.

The book was about two dogs and one cat getting lost in the vast wilderness of Canada. They were dropped off at a farm to be taken care of when their master was gone. They wanted to go back home so they escaped from the farm and left to go out on an adventurous journey home. They had to go up against nature and wild animals.

My favorite part of the book was when the two dogs and the cat found their selves home once again. One of the dogs almost didn't make it because he thought he was too old. The cat made sure that the old dog came home. They found their master and they lived happily ever after.

An Incredible Story......
The book I read is a Weekly Reader Book, hardcover, with a copyright 1960, 1961 with the cover illustration copyright of 1986. The illustrations in the book are done by Carl Burger.

I loved this story since a child after watching the movie on The Wonderful World of Disney and I wanted to read and share the experience with my 6 year old daughter.

You will find yourself wanting to find out what will happen next as the three companions travel through hostile terrain to find their loving family hundreds of miles away.

The word choices are often hard to understand as an adult and my daughter would often ask "what does that mean"? Also she had a hard time keeping straight which dog was which but she did enjoy the book very much.

The last chapter is the best and I almost cried when two of the animals found their owners and then again when the old dog was reunited with his owner after everyone thought he did not survive The Incredible Journey.

I would like to know if this was any way based on a true story. You will enjoy this book very much but it is not a casual read.

This is the best book ever
The Incredible Journey is the best book I have ever read. It is the best suspense book, too. I think Sheila Burnford is the best descriptive writer I've ever read. This book is about two dogs and a cat . They have to go two hundred and thirty miles to find their owner at a river canoeing . The owner left them home and had somebody look after them . The person showed up late and the animals went to find their owner. The animals have to deal with wild animals like bears and porcupines. They also nearly starve while trying to be with their owner at the river. All in all, I think you should read this well-written book. You will find out how much animals love people and it teaches us to work together. There is so much more in this book. So, if you like suspense this is a great book to read!
