Trying to hard
This is just another prime example of an older author trying to write as if she was as old as a teenager or something. Sandra needs to write to her own age audience and let kids write to kids.
The Best Book
I read this book when I was a teenager and I've never forgoten it. This book has been my favorite book of all time, and I'm now twenty-four. I loved this book so much that I'm going to buy it and read it again and again right now. I'm a suspense type of person so if you are as well I would highly recommend this book for you.

More Jewish Folk Tales
Like all of Howard Schwartz's books that I know, this is a collection of fairy tales with a Jewish or biblical theme. The stories in this collection are fun to read, geared for kids 9-12, but appropriate for younger ones too. One of the things I liked about these stories was that when reading them to a younger child, I enjoyed them too. So many books for kids are crashing bores for an adult reader. This one definitely isn't!
Information Technology for Integrated Health Systems: Positioning for the Future

Good framework for developing strategy
I found this book very stimulating. It addresses many issues that need to be thought through and gives a good framework for developing information systems strategy in healthcare. I would recommended it for anyone new to healthcare. People already familiar with information systems and healthcare might find it too elementary.

Weird but good
The Morgesons is a magnificently strange book that takes the conventions of the 19th-century coming-of-age novel & turns them inside out. It comes so close to being a deliciously cosy, quasi-gothic, read that you find yourself wondering whether you're imagining the peculiarities--& perhaps they are only the natural consequences of transplanting this sort of novel into an American setting, where instead of sheepfolds & Anglican churchiness, barren Cape Cod coastline and cold Calvinism are the order of the day. Obsession with inheritance & the family line & that terrible 19th century question: what should a woman do? runs through the book, whose coldness occasionally gives way to flaring episodes of violence and passion.

Three years of Wordly Wise
I am now in 6th grade and I am on book 5. I started with wordly wise 3 in fourth grade. Although I have spent many hours frustrated by the homework assignments given to me with this book, I have learned many complex and interesting words. This book is great for teachers/parents who want to push their kids a little further than just copying spelling words 3 times each every week.
Next year, I'll scream if I see wordly wise following me to middle school, but I guess its for my own good.

Brings you inside the characters
This book was excellent. It really makes you think and go inside the character. It would be a perfect total of five stars if it had more improvisation ideas for one person. Other than that, it great. I really liked it, and if you take a drama class, I recommend you bring it with you for the whole class to share--but make sure nobody tries to [take] it!

This book offers no useful information
This book looks to me just as an advertisement for the school run by the authors. If you want a really good and useful book on Applied Behavioral Analysis, read "Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism" by Catherine Maurice, G. Green and C. Luce. However, before reading it, read the wonderful book "Let me hear your voice", by C. Maurice. Those two books gave me enough knowledge of ABA, so that I was able myself to do the therapy and recover my 3 year-old son from PDD in less than a year.
This book helped us determine what kind of help my son needs
I would have to agree that this book is not what its title presents itself as. I was expecting a little more on how "exactly" to help my son Steven who is just recently 3 and has been diagnosed with moderate Autism Disorder. It did give me the positive boost and the push I needed to go out and get the early Intense intervention that I feel "my son" will really benefit from. It helped me to focus on the problem at hand and gave me a starting place to start my search for improving Stevens future. A good read for people new to this life change, however definately not for people looking for answers on how to actively facilitate learning. I also agree that it was a big push by the authors to use their method, and it worked on me, but I wouldn't discount other possibilities.
If you are new to Autism & ABA - this is a good book
BUT, if you know about ABA and have read "The Me Book" from Lovaas or "Let me hear your voice" from Maurice - this book is not for you.
So let me talk to you if you are a newbie to autism. This book is GREAT because it explains in ENGLISH the basics on ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) treatment for autism. It reviews case studies on choices, how to get started, funding, and other extremely important topics for newbies.
It is a great book that I give to new parents with children affected with autism ALL THE TIME.
But remember: if you are an advanced person been doing the autism and ABA journey for awhile, this book is NOT for you.

Man hater
I personally think that Sandra Cisneros wrote this book for the female audience. She seems to be some sort of a man hater. I guess she really does not like men in any kind of fasion. So for all you man haters this is a good book for you. Everyene else stay away. A better book would be the dictionary
mesmerizing
I have read this book aloud, in English and Spanish, to students grade 3-5 and they were all MESMERIZED by it. The reason is that they had never heard a book written in a child's voice, about everyday experiences similar to their own. The part about one of the girls being tempted to kiss the bum for a dollar got a great discussion going, with many students giving their opinion about what the girl should or should not do. Also, Elena Poniatowska did an amazing job of translating from English to Spanish. Nothing was lost, not even the voice. Poniatowska is an author in her own right, and therefore was able to achieve a perfect translation.

Hey! This poor book has no index.
The book is *so* interesting. Full of good information and great pictures. But where is the index that let's us find our way through all that material? What a shame. Without an index the book let's me down. I can only give it 1 star.
a good all around book
It is a very good book on what it is like to be a Midshipman but especially a plebe. I have family that went to the Academy and told me how close the book was to the actual thing.

To much To late
This book was poorly written but had a good plot. This is the story of a young woman, Billie James and her encounters with, love, heartache and the other problems teens' today face. The one main thing that I disliked about this book is that fact that the story did not get very exciting until the last 4 chapters. As I started to read the book I wanted to put it down but as the end of the book grew closer I became more and more interested. The problem with having too much at the end was that it leaves you with a dead end in the story. I think the author relates well to teens but writes with an odd style and that threw me off at first. I encourage people who enjoy books about the things real people face to read this, but if you get bored in the beginning keep reading because as you get deeper into the book you will come to find that you love it.
