We thought it was great
My twins, aged 5, love this book. I highly recommend it for its warmth and pleasurable illustrations. They love to read this book before going to sleep because it calms and quiets them. There really schould be more books for young children such as this. I will treasure it along with my childhood Winnie the Pooh books. It is a classic!
A WARM AND COSY TODDLER BOOK
This is a wonderful book about a youg boy and his best friend (the bear), who do everything together. The rhyming text is just enough to hold the (short) toddler attention span, and the beautiful, colourful ilustrations make for lots of conversation. This book is one that will be repeatedly read until the whole family knows it off by heart! Another great book for this age group is Bright Eyes, Brown Skin, by Cheryl Willis Hudson and Bernette Ford

Fires, Fights, and Two Teenage Boys
Fires, Fights, and Two Teenage Boys!
What do they have incoming? Well, you will soon find out if you read "Inferno of Fear" by Franklin W. Dixon. As Frank and Joe Hardy the main characters who play their role excellent from the beginning to the end of every book in the series. As the plot unfolds around their wilderness adventure through Alaska's Denali National Park they can sense another mystery approaching. The two-week trip then turns out to be much longer that they planed on. With a hike to a lookout of Mount McKinley turning explosive and the radiating heat with the ability to singe the hairs on the back of a persons neck in one second. Then burst into flames the other and start the 16th forest fire in a row from the past 3 months. Later you get to find out about helicopter crashes, smoke jumpers, and much, much, more. Even the sentence fluency is incredible with this story as it has the ability to paint pictures with the most common words that are used in everyday conversation. "Joe grabbed Alex under the water and surfaced with him in a swirl of blazing branches and splintered boards. The massive old evergreen hissed in the buckled wreckage of the dock." Pg. 11 That's only the beginning of the story and trust me it get better. With the suspense of the story taking you up and down over all a believe that once you pick it up, you have a hard time trying to find a stopping point that will not leave you hanging. As my self only was ably to find one point and read it in two pushes over two days. If you love mysteries and adventure do a twofer and put them together. The Hardy Boys is what you will come up with.

It's so real
Letters from James is an awesome story of Jenny, and James in during the first world war. It is so real that it feels like you know the charachters yourself, and that you are there with them going through the happy, and sad times. As you read the book it makes you want to turn the next page. It is one of those books that you just can't put down because it is so good. Will they ever meet?

Excellent explanation of the process of how to be a success.
Only an experienced professional could have done such a great job describing the process it takes to become a flight attendant. I have had this book for 8 years and studied it to the limit. Now that I am 20 yrs old, I now have a chance to fulfill my childhood dreams. One thing though: she forgot to explain how to go about submitting that first letter to get you started. Great Book! If you have any little tips or pull with american airlines, please let me know.

Excellent resource but very practical, too.
This book is for anyone facing a physical challenge or disability - even a temporary one. Written in clear, concise terms, this book is great for parents, care-givers, grands, aunts, uncles, and all close family of children who face disability. Each chapter deals with a challenge and then has little stories of young people coping well with and through the challenge. Could be read to young children, too, but is written on the average newspaper level. Written from the person with the disability's point-of-view. Great companion book to Ratto's second book COPING WITH A PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED BROTHER OR SISTER. Both are super for the whole family - even the members of your medical team. Hardcover - excellent buy, written by a parent of two children with disabilities who is an educator.

Great help for teens and adults!
"Coping With Your Inner Critic" is a book aimed at a teenage audience but yields much wisdom for adults, too. The principles in the book are based on cognitive behavioral therapy and transactional analysis to try to explain the way we do or think some of the things we do. I highly recommend this for school libraries or anyone working with teenagers who need a book written on a level that teenagers can understand to aid with their self esteem. In a day when teen violence and suicide run rampant, "Coping With Your Inner Critic" should be mandatory reading for all teens.

Quite helpful
Critical reading and evaluation of information is imperitive in today's world of media/info overload. These books give a young person a chance to practice those skills before being bombarded with the biased. These workbooks also give them a chance to practice their writing skills using a variety of topics presented. There are no wrong ways to read and write in this book; just practice and learning. I wouldn't do without these books for my home students.
Not overwhelming with frills, but plenty of information. It is simple and self explanatory so I'm not standing over their shoulder interpreting for them.
Each short chapter can be done in a week at one page a day.
The format is layed out as such: a wide variety of short writings to read, room to write notes on the side (response notes), making connections to the story note space, questions to provoke more thought, intrepretation or write-your-own space.

An excellent introduction to Earth Science for Grades 3-8
This is a fun and educational book for teachers to use as an introduction to a unit on rocks and minerals. It explains the different depths of the Earth, how each one is formed and how they all differ in terms of temperature and make up. It describes what specific minerals can be found in each of the Earth's layers and why and what causes each mineral to form. The students truly enjoy it. It goes into greater depth with the "cartoon bubbles" for those students who are truly curious with all the different facets of "What's Inside the Earth".
