Masterpiece
A astounding collection of classic tales of the macabre. Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde takes up about half of the book; the remainder contains storie such as Markhiem, The Bottle Imp, and the Body Snatcher. Written in a fast paced, articulate demeanor, this book leaves one hanging at the edge of his seat. I hope you don't fall off.

Easy Recorder Tunes (Usborne Books)
Published in Library Binding by Edu Dev (1999)
Authors: S. Roberts and Philip Hawthorn
Amazon base price: $18.95
Average review score:

not just for kids!
As an adult who wanted to learn how to play the recorder, I wasn't sure how (or where) begin. This book is set up from very easy tunes to increasingly difficult (although it never gets too hard.) If a tune involves a new technique (examples: new time signatures, sharps and flats, etc.) the author explains these new things simply and to the point. The best thing about this book is that there are a variety of songs, most of which are recognizable (some Xmas tunes, classical pieces, folk songs, etc.) I wish there were more exercises to increase your technique, but that's being picky. I would recommend this book to both children and adults.

Another great Sunfire book!
Elizabeth is an orphan, who, along with her younger brother and sister, has come to a small town not far from Salem, Massachusetts, to live with her aunt and uncle. But it's 1692, and there are witch hunts in Salem. When the witch fever spreads to her own town and her best friend is accused of being a witch, Elizabeth must choose between speaking up for her friend and risking her own life, or standing by quietly and allowing her innocent friend to die. How can she choose?

Easy to follow esperiments, the book needs color pictures
I mainly bought the book for my first science experiment on the purification of water. There was only one experiment that I could use. It was easy to follow, the materials were easily availble. Color or else more pen drawings are needed so that you set up your science experiment right. It is a 6th - 7th grad level.

A great book for learning and implementing financial plans
This book starts off with the basics but then goes into the details of each subject. It goes well beyond the other books which usually say to do or not do something but does not go into the details of why. I hightly recommended this book.

Business Law Explained for the Intelligent Layman
I was given this book for free by someone who had used it for a college course and didn't want it. I couldn't believe the person wanted to throw it away. This book tells all the basics of business law. If you don't know anything about business law, read it. It is a good book for beginners. I know I will keep it for a reference book for a long time. I am starting my own business and I refer to it all the time. Not only does the book tells just about everything you need to know about business law, it gives actual descriptions of court cases to illustrate the points of each section. A very good buy & an excellent reference book!

Brilliant and inspiring for students and teachers alike.
I know of very few people who can make mathematics come alive the way Prof. Robert Young (Oberlin College) does. I have been a student of his for the past year-and-a-half. With him my mathematical maturity, integrity, and knowledge have soared. The acquisition of Excursions In Calculus has added tremendously to my growth. Prof. Young's book is a collection of some of his favourite topics in teaching elementary calculus and analysis. Intended for both teachers and motivated students of the calculus, he takes the reader through several beautiful realms of mathematical inquiry and discovery. His topics are diverse: infinite sums and products (including a brilliant presentation of some of the work of Euler, one of his favourite mathematicians), exponential spirals, Wallis's formula for pi, chaos and fractals, Cantor functions, the Weierstrass approximation theorem, and many more with an ambitious appendix on modular arithmetic and related topics such as the celebrated Chinese Remainder Theorem. Prof. Young treats each of his subjects with not only the highest responsibility and technical acuity of a trained professional mathematician, but also with the greatest reverence and passion for the glorious field to which he has devoted his life. The book reads not like a sterile mathematical text but as an intricately woven epic of centuries of mathematical inquiry and the rich personalities responsible. Complete with hundreds of very challenging and non-trivial exercises, this book has something for everyone, whether a motivated student of freshman calculus or a sophisticated mathematician. None will be bored, all will be mystified.

The next big action movie?
Hot Spots opens your eyes, maybe too wide, to what really goes on "out there"; on the front lines, in rebel camps, back streets, jungles and the least visited parts of the world. The author and his friends are ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances and what they see and learn makes you stop and think. What happens next puts any cliches you may expect to rest. This is real life at its worst and best. Maybe made understandable by the authors extraordianry grasp of description and honest communication. A great read when you start taking being alive and safe for granted

Forever Young

Collectible price: $3.18

Moving
It differed from the film on which it was based, and yet in some ways, it was better. I am not a really big fan of the sci-fi genre. But I was deeply moved by the bittersweet love story that unfolds within this tale of a modern-day Rip Van Wynkle, a botched cryogenics experiment, and a fatherless young boy who gains a grandfatherly figure the summer of his tenth year.
