I use this biography in my fourth grade classroom. It does a good job of characterizing Orville and Wilbur Wright -- you get a true sense of their determination and perfectionism. However, some of the information is very technical which tends to confuse my children. In the end, my students have mixed feelings about the book - some enjoy it immensely while others complain that it is hard to read.

Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk is a great book for kids ages 9-12. It is fun to read, exciting, and factual all in one. I would recommend this book for a great gift to a 4th grader.

I am a second grade teacher who used this book for shared reading. First I read it aloud to my students. I scanned some pages and projected them onto my T.V. screen. I also enlarged the text so everyone could see and read with me.

My students and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is a special kind of non-fiction, one that deals mostly with facts, but expresses opinions in a subtle way, ie. "...graceful sea lions", "...air smells fresh and salty...", etc. We used the text and practiced writing eyewitness accounts by adding more opinions and feelings. The phrases in the book, which were all very inviting, facilitated the transformation and aided us immensely in our project.

As a preschool teacher I found this book to be an excellent resource and a great deal of fun for the children. Each page is full of colorful images of a typical preschool classroom. Hidden under each “lift -the-flap” are clever language enriching items. The items encourage the children to explore numbers, colors and shapes. There is a page illustrating prepositions and opposites and the final section offers a fun way to discover the ABC’s. I would highly recommend this book to the parent of any preschool age child. It is a great way to introduce school as a fun filled place where learning is exciting. My Giant Preschool Lift-the-Flap Book is a must for any preschool classroom book corner.

I like Kids Want to Know Animals in Summer because I love animals. I think you should read this book because it tells a lot about a whole bunch of animals' lives. I learned about how all animals act in summer. I would recommend it to kids from five to ten years old who love animals.

My Head Start teachers loved this book when it was used in their CDA class, they found it very helpful and full of ideas.
