This One's A Keeper
This is an exquisite book, but I'm sorry to say, I will NOT pass this one along, like I do so many other books. The quality is A1 and the copy behind it is compelling and engaging - I feel like I get to know Harry - and he's an interesting guy to boot. Whether you are a duck hunter or not, you'll cherish this compendium of exceptional images. I'm not a duck hunter and neither was Harry, believe it or not. So to those of you that aren't hunters, you'll love the landscapes and the waterfowl. To those of you that are hunters, you'll believe this guy spent as much time as you did in the blinds. Go buy this and put it on your coffee table - but read it first. You'll probably find that it gets picked up by A LOT of people.

One to look up too!
Wow, awesome artwork and awesome paintings score a perfect 10 of a book. This book is great for anyone that love ducks, art, or just love to hunt! The price may be a little high, but it is well worth it when you purchase and get this book in your hands. If this book doesn't make you feel like you are standing in a marsh, well, I feel sorry for ya cause this is a book that should make you feel that experience (well, at least as close as you can from just looking at a book)! Ok, well, ducks rule!
And so will you if you purchase this book!
Enjoy!
Quack!

What everyone should know about economics
As a former student of Dr. Harry Landreth, I had the honor of learning economic theory under his expert tutelage. This book helps you appreciate and understand the theories and thinking that helped shape our world. A must for any serious student of economics; this book is hailed by academics as THE book on this subject, and I do not disagree.

Excellent Text!
An excellent overview of the history of economic thought. I used this text in my course on the history of economic thought. I highly recommend it! The authors cover, in great detail, such critical items as the preclassical areas of thought, mercantillism, Malthus, Marx, Ricardo, and the transition to Neoclassical economics. The discussion of the modern Microeconomic Theory is also a must for any fan of economics.

VISUALLY ARRESTING AND EMOTIONALLY COMPELLING
Arthur Harry Church, scientist, painter, and teacher, left an incomparable legacy of botanical illustrations. His work, which has often been compared to that of Georgia O'Keeffe, is to this writer just as visually and emotionally compelling.

The vibrancy of Church's work may be due, in part, to his disciplines - he saw his subject with a scientist's mind and an artist's eye whether it was an abundant flower from the Oxfordshire country or a rare specimen from South Africa. His cross-sections and diagrams leave no doubt as to his teachery thought processes or his artistic vision.

This rare volume holds much previously unpublished material from the archives of London's Natural History Museum as well as 100 illustrations, each imbued with a rhythmic vitality.

Undoubtedly, "The Anatomy Of Flowers" will be appreciated by those with an interest in botanical prints and those who enjoy the striking clarity of the art nouveau.

Critical edition is a must for Wells students
War of the Worlds is one of the most important science fiction novels, but its importance can be difficult to see without some knowledge of the time in which it was written. Using essays (some by Wells himself) and copious footnotes, this critical edition does a fine job of placing War of the Worlds into its proper context

A Concise Compilation
Harry Callahan was the most influential and important figure in photography throughout the last half of the 20th century. This edition of his work shows chronologically how Callahan's approach to the medium evolved and changed, while his vision remained ever faithful to modernity. The book begins in Detroit, where Callahan worked for Chrysler while pursuing photography as a serious hobby. It was also during this time that he married Eleanor Knapp, who would later become the subject for many of his strongest images. The accompanying essay by Sarah Greenough is succinctly written, blending biographical information to the photographs Callahan took throughout his long, photographic journey (Callahan died in 1999). Callahan's outlook on photography changed dramatically after having met Ansel Adams, at a photography workshop in Detroit. Taking some of Adams' philosophy and refining it, Callahan created his own style of photographing/printing, made apparent by such images as 'Weeds in Snow' and 'Detroit, 1942'. In these images and throughout the rest of his life, Callahan easily turned the simplest subject matter into monumental works of photographic art. The book provides powerful examples of this, in both black & white and color. After leaving his job to pursue photography full time, Callahan moved to Chicago and taught at the Institute of Design. Continuing the experimentation he began in Detroit, Callahan worked and refined his style during his Chicago years, utilizing double exposure, collage, close-ups, and the use of positive and negative space. The book then turns to Callahan's New England period. It was during this time that Callahan taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, in Providence. The book captures this period vividly, with images of varying contrast and mood. Here we see Callahan's ability at adapting to his environment by producing increasingly poetic images of nature, as well as urban and suburban street scenes. In his later work from 1972-1992, the photographs in "Harry Callahan" document the photographer's travels in other countries, with an increased attention on color. It remains clear by the images shown in his later years, that Callahan continued to explore photography by constantly challenging himself and the medium. Where most photographers are known for one particular style or body of work (Cartier-Bresson's 'decisive moment' or Robert Frank's publication of The Americans), Callahan is known for many different styles and bodies of work. The photographs in "Harry Callahan" prove this with each turn of the page. Callahan was a photographic artist in the truest sense, if we choose to believe an artists' goal is not only to create but to constantly evolve. Callahan was, continues to be, and always will be an influence to those photographers who seek not only perfection in the creation of their photographic art, but also change.

An adventurous story for young readers
Harry's Adventures In Plugovia by GranDad David is an adventurous story for young readers about a boy who arrives in the mysterious land of Plugovia, which is where bathwater goes and where animals act and talk like people. Harry's quest to find his way home with help from animal companions makes for an engaging read-aloud tale, sparsely but effectively illustrated with black-and-white pictures.

The Single First Source for Neuropathology
As a neurology resident, I find this book to be extraordinarily helpful. It is, as the title of this review suggests, the first text I consult for any neuropathology question. It is also an outstanding resource for concise summaries of the clinicopathological hallmarks of a wide variety of conditions.

The book contains numerous high-quality photographs of gross anatomical pathology and histopathology. The text is well-written, clear and concise. There are a number of handy summary tables in each section. The overall layout of the book is clear, aesthetically pleasing, and visually appealing. The color coding of different sections is helpful in reviewing a given topic, and the index is complete.

Some previous reviews suggested that bibliographic references could be more complete. While this is true, I find it to be a minor point in such an otherwise outstanding text. For comprehensive treatment of any given subject, other, more detailed textbooks are available, but few can rival the clarity of text and quality of pictures in Ellison et al.

From the perspective of an academic neurologist in training, this is the one neuropathology book I want to have on my bookshelf. It is an outstanding contribution to the field.
