A Pleasant Read
Fifteen year old Jenny Joslin and her six year old sister, Allie, have been on the move quite a bit: seven times in five and a half years. But no place has been quite as charming and yet as curious as their new house on the end of Crescent Lane. After all, in what other neighborhood, would a young man and his dog mysteriously appear and disappear. And in what other neighborhood would you discover that odd things are happening not only at your house but your neighbors' houses as well. Finding clues to these disturbances leads Jenny not only to the discovery of a fifty year old secret, but also what it means to be truly part of a neighborhood. The Moonlight Man is a nice read that might give a goosebump or two...

Crazy James

[review]
This was a great book to read. From hearing from a person who does not love to read, thats a pretty good book. The book is about a 15 year old girl named Jenny Jolsin and her little sister. Why I chose this book is because it had to do with mystery and its a type of a thriller. In one sentence I would have to say the book is about a girl named Jenny is trying to find out what these shadows are that are hounting in her house. They have moved plenty times and they are wanted to spend time in one house for a while, so they have picked this one. My favorite parts are when the shadows come out and haunt the Jolsins. This book is a very good book to read it really doesn't give the ending away in the very begining of the book. this is a good scary type of book so give it a try.

I haven't read it in a while but i remember LOVING it
This book was really good.It was interesting and scary at the same time. It kinda reminds you of one of those late night scary movies that you have never herd of before but whatch anyway... then you get hooked and it stays with you forever. like i said a good read.Espesally for those who are in a mood to get scared... but not totally freaked out(you know what i mean?)REALLY GOOD! i hope you liked it as much as i did!

Future Shock
This was the first book I read by HG Wells, at the age of 12. (I saw the film first.) After taking a trip into the future, a Time Traveller returns to the 19th century and tells his colleagues what he saw.

In the distant future there is nothing, not a trace, of our world left. The Time Travller discovers a new society and finds that we have evolved into a puny, ineffectual race called Eloi. At night he discovers the other half of the society, the hideous, carniverous Morlocks. The Eloi live simple lives and play in the sun. They are food for the Morlocks, who live underground, operating machinery. The Time Traveller goes even further into the future, to a depressing world where the sun is dying and monstrous creatures roam the surface.

Getting away from the point for a moment, there was once a "Doctor Who" story called "Timelash". In that story the Doctor travels back in time and meets a young writer called Herbert, who accompanies the Doctor on a journey to the future on another planet. There are monsters called Morlox. At the end of the story the young writer gives the Doctor one of his cards, which has the name HG Wells. The story implied that HG Wells' novel was inspired by the Doctor! But in reality "The Time Machine" paved the way for "Doctor Who", one of my favourite childhood shows. So we owe a lot to Wells.

Time travel looks like a fun thing to do but sometimes it's best if the future is left unknown. Would you want to know your own future and find it's not what you hoped for?

Can one man Save the future of Mankind?
HG Wells' Sci Fi classic, about a Victorian scientist's trip forward in Time, differs greatly from the movie version, so if you don't recognize the details of the story in this review, it's because I am referring the original. The tale is narrated at the beginng and very end by a good friend of the Time Traveler--whose name we never learn. Nor in fact are his skeptical dinner guests named, for the emphasis sis Not on the present. Ninety percent of the short novel, however, is a direct narration by the Time Traveler himself, of his incredible journey into the future. The year is hard to credit: 208,701!

Wells loses no opportunity to expound on his theories of Mankind's self-destructive and degenerative "progress." He launches into fervid warnings about the separation of diametrically opposed yet critically enmeshed aspects of human nature--both vital while openly at war--which result in the total Human Being. Yet he never considers what Right his hero has to go back the Future, in a vain, foolish and risky attempt to alter the bovine existence of the beautiful people called ELOI or to reduce the subterranean population of the hideous MORLOCKS who repel us with their bestial behavior? (No Prime Directives here about not meddling with the Past or the Future!) We can only guess at Weena's grim fate, but why did Wells include an eerie chapter with the TT contemplating the primoridal tide at the end of Time itself? Still spell-binding despite the intervening years, The Time Machine enthralls us with its daring concepts of futuristic invention and social speculation. Despite uneven literary pacing, these pages offer great Sci Fi reading for all ages!

Truly a Classic!
OK, we've all seen at least one of the movie versions of H.G. Well's The Time Machine, but none of them truly compare with the oringinal Sci-Fi classic. The book tells the story of the Time Traveler's journey nearly a million years into the future and the very unexpected and disturbing society he finds there. The Time Traveler formulates various theories based on what he observes of the society, which each, in turn, prove to be oh, so wrong! [Warning: mild spoiler] In the end, his realization of the future is especially terrifying considering it is the result of our current social structure (or H.G. Well's, anyway).

I especially recommend this book for those of us with short attention spans - it's only 140 pages (and that's the large print version). But don't get the wrong idea, this book still has more depth and creativity than most 500 page books i've read and is a great read, even compared with today's science fiction standards.

This book has to be considered a classic considering it spawned a whole genre of time traveling books, movies, and tv shows whcih imitated it. Get a hold of a copy and read it today!

A Pretty Good Book
I would give the book 4 stars because I thought the book was pretty good. One thing I liked about the book was how the girl's name is the same as mine. Another thing I liked was when her dreams actually started to apear when she was awake. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes mystery books.

A Winner!
If you are someone who is fond of ghost stories and are to be willing to be scared silly this is for you. The story takes place out in the country where a young girl, christina is staying with her grandmother. There christina has some scarry dreams that takes place in the woods. Soon christina meets some interesting characters and she goes and hangs out with them... soon she starts seeing her dreams again...except it's not her dreams..it's real life. This story unfolds her grandma's life...and a tale of jelousy...a must read!

Excellent book
This book is about a girl that moves into her grandma's house and finds a suprise. I like this book because it gave me a chill just like the book Cristina's Ghost another book Betty Wright wrote. I recommend this book if you like mysteries and don't mind a chill every now and then. I just couldn't put it down. I just had to keep reading it, I couldn't stop.

Ugh... This is not what I was expecting.
I flipped through it to make sure it looked good before getting it for my son. About half-way through, I was shocked to find something like this, "the next year I didn't want to go back to the lake. The dog is getting old. He's going to die just like Grandma did." I was not expecting it and had to quickly change the words while reading it to my son. I didn't read the description inside the book, but instead looked at the cover and pictures inside. If you get this book, be prepared that it deals with Grandma's death.

Dealing with Death
There aren't many good books that deal with the death of loved ones - but this is one. It does deal with the death of a Grandmother, but it deals with it in a wonderful way - it shows the circle of life - that life goes on - and it is ok to be happy after the death of someone you love.

Wright writes it scary
Not only woulde this story be frightening for children (its a forth level book)but it also was a little scary for me! One reason is probably because I read it just before I went to bed for the night, another because it really left you in suspense until the very last couple chapters of the story. I believe this is a good book for older children because it had some very climatic parts that would keep them really interested. Personally, I enjoyed the book because I like a little scare every once in a while. It was very easy and fun to read as well.

This is an Excellent book to read if you love a great scare.
The Midnight Mystery is one of my favorite books I have ever read. There has been strange things going on around Rosie's house ever since her father has moved away for a new job. One night Rosie was looking outside when she saw a dark figure outside in her back yard. She has also been hearing about mysterious things going on around her neighborhood. Like doors slamming in supposedly emty houses. All of this strange stuff going on is making Rosie uneasy. She also keeps on finding her wardrobe open and a mess. Alsost everytime her and her mother go somewhere. She is going to be in a piano recital and she still has to learn how to play The Dance Of The Dinosaurs. She also has another problem she only has nine fingers and dreads that she will not be able to play the piece since she has so little time to practice. She thinks that everything would be so different if her father was still around to help. She keeps on asking to herself "Why can't things be simple and easy like they use to be?" If you want a scare this is deffinately a book you'll want to read

It's haunting...and it's real.
For the first time I got to read this absolutely astounding masterpiece, I got thrilled and enchanted by the most beautiful language, descriptions that make you see the set and actions before your eyes, and of course this consuming crazy passion which entwines both main characters. Emily Bronte succeed not only in creating a most touching, and yet horrifying love story, which can only be compared to Phantom by Susan Kay,but also managed to make it a Gothic tale with symbolism and double meaning all around. This is a book to be read many times, and understood deeply. I was 16 when I've read it for the first time, and since then I reread it for countless number of times, and each time I discovered something new. It helped me to grow emotionally. In this story, "physical" true love is lifted above our world, ad turned into something more spiritual. The bond between heathcliff and Cathy was so strong that it conquered death. A greatest love story of all time. A must-read for anyone.

A truly unique piece of writing!!
Wuthering Heights is one of oldest romance novels and stands as a classic in litterature history.
All through the book you will meet great contrasts that to a certain extent can explain the actions. Wuthering heights is the land of storm and wilderness compared to the quiet and more passive Thruscross Grange where one might think it's more appropriate for children to grow up. The Earnshaw family lives on Wuthering Heights while the Linton family is from Thruscross Grange. When those two contrasts meets with the children of these two families, the conflicts starts. Catherine and Heathcliff are drawn to eachother from the begining and their passion is powerful and destructive. There's love, hate and suffering, but written in a poetic somewhat advanced language and it's echanting how you get caught up with this book.
Sad is it that Emily Brontë died the year after its publication at the age of thirty... But with this novel and her poems, she is one of the most well known female English writers of the 18th century.
You will surely miss out on something great by not reading this book. I warmly recommend Wuthering Heights to everyone who loves to read. It is truly a unique piece of writing!

Absolutely Bewitching!!
This is one book I've read over and over again, to understand how it appears to other people. Whomsoever have I met consider it to be rude and strange at first. What this book means to me is unsurpassed literature. It depicts rough love- a love that is as wild as the moors of England. Wuthering Heights breeds initself a "horror of darkness", we sometimes breathe in our lives. The love existing between Heathcliff- the most loved villians of all time and Catherine stands strong. This book is about a stranger entering a household where he is rejected, and during this course betrays the one solitary feling in his heart- not being his love for Catherine, but compassion. The other half of the story reaches a point where Heathcliff takes his sweet revenge. There are no answers to questions like: Should a character like Heathcliff exist or not? I do not know. This is a masterpiece in literature depicting love, innocence lost, friendship, forgiveness and above all acceptance. Unfortunately, this was the first and last book of Emily Bronte. Wish there were more novels like this one!

Sweetness
I've read this book many times, and it keeps you on your toes the whole way through. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a thrill, or trying to get the required amount of Accelerated Reader points.

Ghosts Beneath Our Feet summary
Katie Blaine couldn't be happier about spending the summer in the tiny town of Newquay. She had a great desire to leave her hometown. She pictured a little village with a town square and a general store, a perfect place for her mother, stepbrother, and her to become a family again. As soon as she gets there, Katie knows she was definitely wrong. The town is dreary and deserted, and something eerie about the old house they are staying in. Then when she feels that nothing can get worse than that, she hears groaning noises under the floorboards of the house, and sees a ghost. This girl who Katie knows is trying to tell her something. Although Katie can not understand the girls warning, she knows that her family is in great danger. The only person that can save them is the ghost girl.

What I liked about this book was that they had cliffhangers after every chapter and that really got me jumping off my seat. I also liked it when the author gave surprise places for the ghosts to appear. I usually don't like scary books, but I read this book successfully. This book has kept me going because it just kept getting better. Right when you think its over, it starts all over again. Betty Ren Wright did a terrific job in writing this book.

What I disliked about this book is the fact that it was a scary book. I hate scary books; I just cannot stand them. But I really enjoyed this book. It gave me entertainment through books that I have never picked up due to the fact that I will get major nightmares. This book provided nightmares a few nights but not as bad as other books. But I wouldn't recommend this book to people who have a weakness' to ghosts or other make believe. Other wise, this book is terrific!
