This book is written for the young, but all ages will enjoy.
This is a delightful and charming story of Diana which begins with the Spencer family. Diana was born into an aristocratic family; however, she was thirteen years of age when she became Lady Diana.

Diana loved her father deelpy and was upset when he married Raine, his second wife in 1976. At age nine, Diana's father sent her to boarding school. On holiday from school, it was not unusual for the younger royal children, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, to visit the Spencers and use their private simming pool. In Diana's own words, "I loved being at school. I was very naughty in the sense of always wanting to muck about rather sit tight looking at the four walls of the schoolroom."

This book takes one from Diana's early years, school years, her royal romance and engagement, the fairy-tale wedding, the Shy-Di era through her various roles - working princess, motherhood, hier hidden pain and suffering, her years with the press, the breakdown of her marriage, going public with her marriage problems, her work with aids, cancer, landmines, her work with street people, her work with leprosy, and her tragic death.

Of all these many roles, Diana relished the role of Motherhood the most. She resented the time she had to be separated from her children for any length of time.

Diana's friend, Rosa Monckton, once stated in an England newspaper, "Diana had huge courage, and whenever things got too much for her she would say to herself: 'Diana, remember you're a Spencer' ( she was far prouder of this than being royal), and she would then get on with whatever she had to do." Page 35.

Each short role is told in words and accompanied by beautiful colored pictures on each. Diana had admired Mother Teresa for a long time. The last time they met was in New York City in June of l997. Diana and Mother Teresa were different, yet when they met in Calcutta, India, they shared a common love of poor and outcast people. Mother Teresa once told Diana, "To heal other people you have to suffer yourself." When Mother Teresa was told of Diana's death, she described Diana as "a very great friend who was in love with the poor." page 39.

Unfortunately, Mother Teresa died the day before Princess Diana's funeral services, and the world lost two outstanding ladies within one week.

When Diana was in Bosnia, Lord Deedes said, "One boy took off his boots to show what his feet looked like. But he didn't have any feet left. Diana picked him up in her arms. There were no photographers there. She was not showing off. It was a genuine impulse ... instinctive," P. 41

There is a glossary of terms on P. 46 to help the youngster who might not know the meanings of some terminology which is used.

A beautiful story of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, which is written in such a manner that all people can read and enjoy.

This refers to the paperback edition. 48 pages. 81/2"x101/2"

A Fun Read From Cover to Cover
"Epiphanius Tighe and the Dragon of East South Water Street" is the second book involving the wrinkled and impish dracologist, Professor Tighe, hot on the trail of a dragon, hunting for loot and food in downtown Chicago.

The characters are amusing and well-defined (especially folksy Ephiphanius in his fish out of water situation), and all the subplots all dovetail nicely. What I enjoyed especially is Wood's charming illustrations of how the descendants of Irish immigrants in the U.S., many generations removed, still cling to the notion that they're as Irish as a penny whistle. I guess it just goes to prove that Americans secretly long to belong to something older and deeper with meaning than the disposable pop culture they find themselves in.

All around a terrific read with a great protagonist. Too bad old Albert Sharpe is no longer living; he might have made a great cinematic Epiphanius Tighe! Hats off to Woods in his second Epiphanius Tighe adventure. Am looking forward to the next.

This book is definitely worth the read. It traces the lives of 3 individuals. All live life to the full, with passion and ambition. What they have in common is not only their passion and ambition in life but that they all die young. Turning Love into a Gift
The collection that the Masons have built out of a love of art, craftmanship and wood turns into a real gift to those who do not have the luxury to study these pieces first-hand. The photos of their home shows that their attraction with creation is not limited to wood but to light, paintings and melding life with art.

The photos display the pieces so well that some just seem to glow and brighten on the page. It makes it difficult to look at a tree or salad bowl without imagining the possiblities.

Great book for animal loving kids!
I got this book from the library for my 3-year old sons who love zebras. While the text is clearly for older kids (9 and older or so), the book is full of illustrations and photograhs and lots of information even younger kids can enjoy. One son sleeps with this book and never tires of looking at the pictures. He points to parts of the text near the pictures he likes, asks me to read, and he sits captivated.

We've also gotten other books in the Zoobooks series from the library and they are always a big hit! I finally bought the zebra and the gorilla (two favorites). If your kids are interested in animals, they'll love any of these books.

Well done, in Plain English
Want to learn to build your own amazon.com? It's in this book. You'll have to be proficient with ansi-SQL and/or ADO 2.0 in order to really take advantage of the information presented here. But overall it's a well presented book on ASP. If you plan to buy this and want to build true interactive sites with full database integration, pick up ADO 2.0 Programmer's Reference and Instant SQL Programming also from WROX Press, then you'll have a strong book base to build powerful web sites such as amazon.com. The only drawback is its concentration on VBScript rather than ECMAscript (aka JavaScript). Try and stay away from the VBScript presented in this book and use ECMAScript for the examples instead. The reason is because Microsoft and Netscape are finally agreeing on ECMAScript standards that will be much easier to translate into Client-side Cross-browser code if you use it for Server-side code now. As ECMAscript matures it will present a much more flexible environment to work in than VBScript will (much the same way that C compared to Visual Basic does now). I don't have a book recommendation for ECMAscript, I haven't found a good reference yet, the info on the web has been my resource. But if you're desparate for a reference, WROX Press also has a handbook called Instant JavaScript that isn't too bad, but has lots of room more improvement. Happy Building! Ciao -C

You won't out grow this book in couple of months.
I purchased this book with one goal: to incorporate a database into a web site. With this book, the example code available on the WROX web site, and the Microsoft Developers web site, I was able to exceed my own expectations.

I approached this task with solid HTML and Javascript skills but no background in ASP or VBscript and no other programmer to consult with. The answers are all there in concise, yet detailed explainations. If you would like to see what I was able to achieve, visit AccessDB.net.

There is no fluff in this book. I would not recommend this book to a novice or casual web site developer. It is packed with detail that will quickly swamp you in technology that you have no intention of using. However, if you are serious about implementing ASP, Microsoft database technology and more, on an NT4.0 server, this is an excellent book that will remain useful for a long time.

As good as ASP gets
If you have read the first edition of this book, this second edition may look familiar. However, the book has more pages - about 1000 (edition 1 had about 600). There are several additions, especially topics on MTS and Message Queue, which are very good in themselves. "A case study in compatibility" is excellent guide for all, to develop for a varied set of browsers. A whole chapter is dedicated to transactions, a prelude to the chapters on E-Commerce case study and MTS.

The best part is an extended reference at the end of the book, and this time JScript is also covered.

I have a few comments about this book
1. The book should have been thinner, with some chapters on CD-ROM
2. You must be at intermediate level to use this book, else you could get lost easily. Beginners, don't yet touch this unless you know VBScript

In short, without a doubt, the best book ever written on ASP.
