Will Become an "old standbye"!
Excellent cookbook, with many "old standbye" claasics, but updated with a contemporary twist. Especailly delicious are Shrimp Enchiladas and Creme Brulee. I have tried MANY of the recipes, and not one has ever been less than what I hoped for.

Great for cooks of all abilities.

Reliable and delicious recipes
This cookbook was sent to me by a friend who knows the author. I've never had a bad result and each recipe is elegant and delicious. My very favorite dish is the rack of lamb. The pear tart is wonderful as well. This is also a nice "gift" book.

Elegant combination of European cuisine with Southern flair
Memorable Meals has become my standby companion when entertaining for family and friends. Moorman's recipes reflect her european training infused with the unique flavors of the Southwest. The menu suggestions are both delicious and charming -- from the Christening Brunch of Tiny Cheese Tarts and Pear Tart to the Day of the Dead (Dia de las Muertes) menu featuring Poblanos Santa Fe and Strawberry Ice Peppers. Also helpful are the suggested wine parings and presentation suggestions.

Spirit Walker
This is a "to the point" review. This book is beautiful - in every way. It relaxes me after a dificult day, or when I need to come back to "Spiritual reality". I'm so sorry it isn't being published any longer - along with several other books by the same author & illistrator. the only one I have is "Spirit Walker"; dreaming I owned all the rest as well.

Returning to the Beginning Place
Like Dancing Moons, Spirit Walker is a set of jewel like reflections on what matters most, written with the sensitivity and sentiment of Native American wisdom which captured Nancy Wood some time ago. This book is not just for young adults as it is classified; it most certainly is for anyone who wants to hear the rhythms of the world a little more clearly. A great book to supplement one's morning meditations, prayers, etc. The paintings by Frank Howell are spellbinding. This is a rare gift for those who need to slow down, to listen, to heal.

I love this book!!!!!
this is the best book of poetry that i have read. I am 15 years old and i have read this book many times. i got it from my grandma when i was little. reading this book helped me though my fathers death in sept. my fav poem is three sisters. i think that people should read this book. now i am tring to get my mom to get me her first book.

Reflections from a Medicine Lake
I have never quite understood why Nancy Wood's poetry collections are classified as "young adult". Her deep wisdom and clarity are more likely to be more fully appreciated by adults. This is a wonderful gift book for transitions times: graduations, marriage, death of a loved one, etc. Her poems are liking looking deep into a Medicine Lake where one sees the very fabric of life and all the its intricate connections. Frank Howell's paintings will fill you with awe and haunt your dreams.

"A precious collection of thoughts for everyone."
I first read Nancy Wood's Dancing Moons after visiting Santa Fe and seeing Frank Howell's gallery. The words and thoughts that Wood has shared with the reader are thoughtful and energising. I find myself going back to her writings for guidance often, for myself and to share with friends and loved ones. I am appreciative of the emotions she has shared with us. Her talents as an expressive writer are world class.

Fabulous!
This is a great textbook - a fun, readable format for a topic that could very easily be really dry. Other texts I have used in continuing my nursing studies have paled in comparison to this one, which I used in my first course, A&P. Nothing can live up to this. Good job!

the Human Body in Health and Illness
The format of this book is easy to understand...it makes a sometimes difficult subject fun! Students from a variety of academic backgrounds will find this book helpful...it is written with all students in mind. Students with high level academic skills are lead into additional exercises where their skills are challenged. Our college has used this book to train Massage Therapists. We found this text and the study guide perfect for body workers training out of the traditional academic A&P setting. There is an emphasis on providing information regarding contraindications which these students must know in order for them to work effectively with a variety of clients. I highly recommend this book for faculty looking for an Anatomy & Physiology text which addresses classes with multiple academic levels and styles.

Circles and cycles, blessings and renewal
If you have Nancy Wood's other volumes you already know what kind of a spell she can weave. She just keeps getting better with each collection. You can open to any page and find a line or two you want to remember always. Her thoughtful reflections on what is good in life remind us all ever so gently to be more mindful as we move through our days. Howell potrays our elders with the sanctity they deserve. This book, like her others, makes a great gift for all adults, young in age and young at heart.

Wonderful ritual-evoking poetry, inspiring art work
I was given this book as a gift, and even just glancing through it the first time, i found myself drawn by it., There are many poems that will provide the basis for rituals throughout my life, and hte artwork has something special about it.

A truly vibrant, truly multicultural children's book.
A lively engaging book that captures the essence of the multicultural ideal. Readers are introduced to contemporary artists with many diverse cultural backgrounds through short autobiographical sketches, photographs, and self portraits. An explanation of the self portrait is also included in the sketch. This is a great way for kids (or adults for that matter) to learn about art and multiculturism at the same time!

Out of the Woods: The Origins of the Literary Fairy Tale in Italy and France
Published in Hardcover by Wayne State Univ Pr (1997)
Author: Nancy L. Canepa
Amazon base price: $39.95
Average review score:

An interesting collection of essays
Nancy Canepa organized a conference about fairy tales and then edited this collection of essays that were presented. Included is an essay by the prolific Jack Zipes about tales such as Puss In Boots and essays about the often overlooked "Il Penatmerone" by Giambattista Basile. This collection provides a wide range of scholarship in an area of fairy tale study that is often overlooked. Thanks in part to Canepa, I hope the early literary fairy tales will be studied more and more.

It offers a seemingly honest and emotional look into the hearts and spirits of the Ute. You come to know their world, and feel and understand their situation. Nancy's poetry is so thoughtful and full of wisdom! This book is complete with photos. I am sorry to hear this book is out of print, it my absolute favorite.

Remembering Home
I absolutely love the Book. It brings up all kinds of emotions for me. It was like reading a diary of my own years in the Big Woods, somewhat like reading an old letter about a dear departed friend. It refreshed memories of the sights and seasons of my own precious moments on the Root River, captured with the uniquely defined detail that I don't ever want to forget.

Aside from my own personal response, the style of the author's powerful, straight forward writing, the delightful drawings, the subtle narrative, the lovely depiction of local people are all beautiful. The author's perceptions, particularily when she describes "Celebrities", suggests an ethical code quite beyond the common and well worth reflection.

Years ago when still a prisoner of the city, I read Helen Hoover's books about her experiences in the Great Piney Woods of northern Minnesota. Like those stories, this insightful articulation of the rich experience of being At Home in the Big Woods helps any reader to listen and to really see into their own surroundings. Those insights will deepen your feelings about the place that you call home, whever it is.

Into The Big Woods...
As a long-time admirer of Ms. Overcott's poetry, I was pre-disposed to enjoy this collection of her essays. I was not disappointed. The author has a keen understanding of nature and an obvious love for "the Big Woods" and its inhabitants-both people and wildlife. Her encounters brought me into her world, and I felt privileged to experience it along with her. She has produced a work that I shall enjoy reading over and over again.

A Celebration of the Woods
Nancy Overcott has traveled a great deal in the Big Woods. She has hacked trails through the thick underbrush and has built wooden benches along the way where she can sit and observe the abundance of nature around her. In her book, she writes about her observations and musings in the spirit of the great 19th century individualist and naturalist, Henry David Thoreau. She writes about her neighbors with affection and candor. Along her walks she meets hunters and fishermen; fellow bird watchers and Amish teenage beer drinkers
Nancy is exquisitely in tune with the Big Woods. It's in her bones. Through her essays, she evokes a quiet sensibility and spirituality that is grounded in her strong sense of place. The book is both memoir and meditation. It is a celebration of wildlife and of home life.
