Amazing Natalie
When one thinks of Natalie Wood, tragedy comes to mind. Yet, Natalie lived an incredible life of love and good fortune. Natalie Wood: A Biography In Photographs is a testimony to that life. This book includes pictures from Natalie at every stage in her life. Regarded as one of the most beautiful women in screen history, Natalie began her career as a mere child. Her first well known role was the child in Miracle on 42nd Street. She could have been typecast as a child actor but instead broke out into a tumultous role in Rebel Without a Cause. This book contains several candid and studio pictures of her adolescent career. During this time period, she met Robert Wagner who she later married twice. Photos of their weddings and life together are a main focus of this book. Natalie's other marriage and children are photographed with her as well. Throughout Natalie's career, her look changed considerably. There is a color section showing her progression of age and fashion sense. Natalie matured onscreen unlike anyone else. She had a very successful career that peaked its highest in the 1960s. This pictorial biography shows many of the roles that made her the movie star she continues to be today.

Exotic location, intrigue, reminiscent of G.A. Henty
Rufin has given us an excellent piece of historical fiction reminiscent of the works of G.A. Henty and James Mitchner. As one who travelled overland from Mashad, Iran to Herat, Afghanistan in March 1971 and April 1972, while an American Peace Corps volunteer in Iran, (6/70-6/72), I can relate to the setting. Shah Tahmasp II was ruling as the last of the Safavid Shahs of Persia, when two Afghan 'sardars', Mahmud and Ashraf conquered Isfahan, the Safavid capital, as well as the earlier capital Qazvin. Mahmud and Ashraf were from the Hotaki (Ghilzai) dynasty. They imposed Sunni rule briefly on Shi'ia Persia. The book has much suspense and is historically accurate. An excellent read.

A Mirror and a Kaleidoscope
How do I choose a favorite poem among Christopher Woods' sensitive, evocative collection, "Under a Riverbed Sky?"

I am haunted by "Woman in Stone." It led me from one layer of meaning to another, and each time I thought I understood all the poet meant to convey, I was drawn deeper.

"The Well" spoke with a weary but gentle voice, of death and other endings, of making peace with them, without ever uttering the words.

"If I See Her Again" cut straight to the bone. I thought, "Yes,
that's how it was. That's what I felt." Emotions long forgotten washed over me.

To me, the validity of poetry, its reason for being, is to act as a mirror held before our souls and then as a kaleidoscope, displaying the colors of our deepest selves, reflected a thousand times by others. Christopher Woods' poetry does exactly that.

A wonderful step by step instructional book full of ideas
I recieved this book looking for inspirations and ideas for my boring walls. I found many ideas I could use throughout my home. One thing I thought could have been improved on was the artists renditions of the pieces in the book. The shading is very chalky looking but can easily be fixed when you apply it to your walls. Over all a very good inspiring book to turn to for wall covering ideas.

Great intoduction to how Trompe L'oell is done.
I was looking for a book that explained what Trompe L'oell was and if it was possible for me, a not so talented painter, to do some of this in my own home. This book answered all of my beginner questions, gave me the confidence to try it myself, and gave me ideas of what I wanted to paint where.

Excellent detail instruction and photos to go by.
I found the book so inspiring, I couldn't wait to start a project. I had accomplished the the kitchen shelf with excelent results. I found the step by step, detailed instruction were very helpful and the drawings a added bonus. I must compliment Roberta for the wonderful work she has accomplished and for putting this fabulous book together. Thank you so much. Kris
