miss information on how to make drinks
this book will help no one in the bar buissnes, half the drink resepes wrong, and not spesific the people who wrote this book don't know anything about mixing drinks. and who ever gave this book 5 stars is drunk. i need to know how to reture this book.
the perfect companion to a recipe book
"The Complete Idiot's Guide to Mixing Drinks" is a wonderful book, filled with anecdotes, tips, and histories of spirits. It takes a basic, straightfoward approach to bartending that is easy to understand and use. The book is very thorough, and is best used in conjunction with a simple recipe book. It is NOT simply a book of recipes, however. I find it to be far superior to similar books (i.e. "Bartending for Dummies.")

what a waste
This is a great book if your boss asks what book they should buy to learn Goldmine. Its not helpful, poorley written and should make you look like a superstar as long as you already know the program.
Goldmine - not for single users
If you have an inclination to buy this book, look at ACT! or MS Outlook instead of Goldmine. These books are written by Goldmine Certified Consultants. Do you really believe they are going to give their secrets away...when they charge thousands a day?
You will find the only real solution to any problem beyond the GoldMine Unknowledgeable Base (which I believe they purposely do not update) or their Customer Disservice Department is as basic as it gets. FrontRange (owner of Goldmine) constantly refers you to Goldmine Certified Consultants. It is obvious that FrontRange is leaving individuals and small business owners "Out On The Range!"
No real information on how to use GoldMine
This book suffers from the same problems as the GoldMine for Dummys book. If you have been using GoldMine and have a good understanding of its purpose and function then the book contains interesting information. If you are not knowledgeable about GoldMine and your boss drops it on your desk and tells you to learn it then this book has minimal value. The book lacks an integrated approach.
The information is good and accurate but is basically scattered pieces of knowledge. Think of it like this, suppose that someone wanted to teach you chess. They described each and every piece and the board. They described the manner in which each piece could move and restrictions on movement. Then they said to go play chess. You would surely lose if you don't know that the goal is to capture the other king nor how all the pieces work together to create an effective defense or offense. This book describes how each piece works but not how to get them to work together.
Unfortunately I can't point anyone to any other book on GoldMine that does not suffer the same problem. They describe all the ingredients and how to prepare the ingredients but not how to bake the cake.

I would like to admit
that I did not actually buy this book. I looked at the cover (you can see it above) and said to myself "God, it must get funnier than that". Guess what? It didn't. Read the lame comic on the cover right now. Did you laugh? Was it funny in anyway? Didn't think so. That was the best joke of the whole book. If you don't trust me just ask yourself if you believe that an editor would choose to put a lame comic on the COVER rather than a funny one (in order to "hook" the consumer). That sad truth is that that is the best Judd has to offer. Your money can be better spent elsewhere on this site.
In case you didn't notice...
...I read this strip book and found it boring... It is not "witty"... "Thinking man's comic"?!? Please... For those of you who don't know, this book is full of those stupid cartoons you see in the "Idiot's guide to" books... If that's your idea of "witty" or "intelligent humor" then buy this book otherwise save your hard earned $$....
A Lot Of Fun
I read this book on a flight to Chicago and it was a lot of fun. Judd's humor is dead-on when it comes to the absurdity of the modern day workplace (and society of that matter). While this book is just "quickie" one panel strips, they are extremly funny. People who find strips like Dilbert, the Far Side and Bloom County will want to check this book out.
