This book was difficult to read, often wandering off on a tangent. I know the subject of taxes can be difficult but this text made topics that I was already familiar with seem confusing again. Each chapter has several examples, many of which were helpful. But many were also not clearly explained and a few made me wonder if the paragraph was truely finished. If you have a choice, pick up some tax software and a quickfinder guide to go with this class.

One of the better written tax textbooks. Will actually NOT put you to sleep when you read it. Easy to understand examples.

I am using this book in my Federal tax accounting class. I have more about taxes from this book than I have ever in my whole life. Great tax examples and many resources to solve each problem.

Marienburg: Sold Down the River (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Hogshead Publishing Ltd (01 August, 1999)
Amazon base price: $19.95

The book describes the city, her quarters, habitants, history, gods, dangers and "stars" in a soberb way. The adventure with happens in a market chash is very good too. The ONLY drawback of the book in my oppinion are the pictures who are inferior to Warhammer FRP standards. Anyway the book surely worth the price.

This book was about a lonely woman and a boy who need a family.
Henry, the boy, goes to work for Sarah, a quiet woman who is very secluded. Henry tries to reach out to her but then he finds out he might be her son. I liked this book because it shows how drawing conclusions about someone before you know about them, can cause hurt feelings.

Arkansas Confederates in the Western Theater
Published in Hardcover by Morningside Bookshop (1998)

As geneologists well know, it is the research that is really the fun part of working on a historic subject. Clearly the author here relished digging into obscure archives looking for undiscovered tidbits of information on Arkansas' Confederate soldiers. He probably did the most extensive research on this topic of any historian. For that he deserves great credit. This book is probably a valuable addition to a Civil War historian's library for its 41 page bibliography alone.
His problem begins when he has to decide what information to include and what to exclude as he writes his book. Apparently he did not exclude anything and ends up with neither a first rate annotated bibliography nor an interesting read. It is too bad that the author did not publish an annotated bibliography on Arkansas Confederates and then also a separate history of the 9th Arkansas Infantry Regiment.
The story jumps around to the extent that it is quite annoying. At one moment we are on one part of the battlefield and suddenly we are with a completely different unit on the otherside of the battlefield. Too the writing is stilted and overdone. For example in describing one Confederate attack, the author writes that they "hit the enemy line with a determined, resolved, resolute, and firm fierceness, an unbridled, violent, barbarous, and savage fury."
If not for the first-rate research I would have to rate this book two stars or less, but it is valuable as a research tool.

Civil War research is often written from a soliders point of view or contains romantic idealism. This book simply states the events, describes the conditions, offers personal glimpses of the soilders, and provides a timeline of events. If you had an ancestor in the Western Theater, this book will provide information of what their world was like. I found soilder listings here that I have not seen anywhere else. This book has become a valuable source of information and I wish there were more like it.

If you are interested in this book to learn a bit of spherical trig, you might want to see a copy before buying. This book is rather terse in describing the subject matter and of course there are no answers to the exercises. The copy I recently purchased actually contained two books in one cover, "Spherical Trigonometry with Naval and Military Applications" and "Five-Place Logarithmic and Trigonometric Tables." My copy is first edition, fourth impression, dated 1942. The book does cover a lot of ground but suffers from the era of doing many calculations using logarithms - pre-calculator. The drawings are actually well done, considering they are limited to black and white.
I am not a book collector, so I can't offer any comment about collectability etc.

Not bad, but review a copy before you buy to see if it meets your needs.
