I like this book, but thought $325 was a bit steep
I particularly enjoyed using this book as an offensive weapon, but feel that for $325 I could have bought a much more effective automatic shotgun which would have served my purposes as a terrorist better.

A book that should be used as gold standard.
After noticing the book among others in the series on the shelves of the medical library, I checked it out and found it a very good reference. The authors clearly know their field and the writing is clear and concise, as this type of publication should be. It is a must have book for scientists and scholars, as well as practitioners. Considering the obvious involvement of at least one large multinational drug company in the book, one would think that that it would be a sponsored publication so that "normal" practitioners and scientists could actually purchase it for their own reference library!

Mistaken purchase
I bought this on the strength of an Amazon.com review and I must say I'm sorry I did. Lucky I bought a ... copy. Neither story caught/held my interest; none of the characters seemed fresh or interesting & the storylines were tired out, too. Same old, same old in my opinion. Cathy Williams' story was more boring than Kim Lawrence's.

A great book for a good quick read
This book has two different stories from two good authors. Both stories deal with secretaries and their boss's. The first story is titled "Baby and the Boss" by Kim Lawrence. Nia has a strictly professional relationship with her boss Jake Prentice. Their professional start's to become personal when Jake finds himself left with a baby to care for, so he turns to Nia. He then starts to realize that Nia could be so much more then just his secretary.
The second story is titled "Assignment: Seduction" by Cathy Williams. Robert has respected his secretary Mellisa's need to have a strict "only professional relationship" but that soon starts to change when they on an assignment at the Caribbean. Both of these stories are good but my personal favorite is the "Assignment: Seduction"

Chapter 9
Chapter 9 .. That's where they ask the question "What is an Active Server Page?", a question you presumably asked BEFORE reading chapters 1-8.

The truly sad part is that the book can't even competently answer the question. Maybe I should write a book about the mating habits of giant squid and call it "ASP Secrets Revealed!" ... At least you would get to read about giant squid doing the dirty.

Good book, wrong title
As a book on general web scripting, particularly scripting for folks who are not used to doing such things, this is a very good book.

It introduces, in clear, intelligible text, what you need to know about VBScript, JavaScript and DHTML. Examples are plentiful, and the tables are laid out in a manner that makes it good for later reference.

There are a couple of chapters on server-side scripting. Basics, uses, components, even the obligatory text about Visual Interdev.

Ultimately, though, this book is not about "Active Server Pages." It's about scripting your web site.

Maybe they should have called it "Web Scripting Blue Book". But....oh!...that's it!....if they associated it with "Blue Book" then *everyone* will read about the real history of the internet (page 11). And we wouldn't want *that*, would we?

A great -- and apparently misunderstood -- book
A fine book if you want the practical side of writing an Active web page. Lots of practical examples. True it isn't just about ASP, but it is about using ASP to develop a whole Web site. Best of 3 books I have on the subject.
