Informative, documented, and up-to-date
With federal spending on academic institutions running about 15 billion dollars a year (including a variety of projects to improve human health, our understanding of the natural world, education, and the national defense), concerned and involved citizens will appreciate the collaborative efforts of Goldman and Williams in their investigative survey report published and available as Paying For University Research Facilities And Administration. Highly recommended for both professionals and the non-specialist general reader, this report is informative, documented, and provides up-to-date quantitative and qualitative data on indirect and overhead costs encompassing both facilities and administrative education institutional costs that are federally reimbursed.

Excellent selection of readings
This is one of the best anthologies I've ever found on the issues discussed within Philosophy of Religion. It covers different readings from Saint Teresa of Jesus, St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, up to William Alston, Blaise Pascal, Soren Kierkegaard, C. S. Lwis, John Hick, David Hume, William Rowe among many others. The book selects readings from the following subjects: Religious Experience, Faith and Reason, the attributes of God (the problems of his existence, his omnipotence, his omniscience and its relations with voluntary action, his timelessness, etc), theistic arguments (specially the ontological and cosmological arguments), the problem of evil, knowledge of God, religious language, miracles, among many others. Highly recommended.

Pilgrims In Aztlan
Miguel Mendez' response to the social ills of the day is to write about the crude realities of some of the experiences of the undocumented immigrant on his way to the U.S. Mendez lets us know that he will be using the voice of the oppressed to describe their suffering. In Pilgrims in Aztlan, Mendez writes about the soical and political by talking about borders. Borders that are difficult to explained and be visualized. In Mendez's story there is no protagonist, only the human journey of people who seem to have no names. Everything gets in the way of this human journey. The place of exodus, poor, uncaring, does't seem to mind. The place of destination does not welcome them only exploits them. Suffering is universal and knows no borders or time. Yet, the universal suffering of mankind are but individual stories of people. To describe these suffering Mendez has used the tool of literature to document and tell stories of human suffering, least they be forgotten.

Fabulous primary accounts of life at the turn-of-the-century
Excellent! Hear the stories of people's lives as they lived them in the early 1900s. From a Georgia peon to a woman labor organizer to a Swedish homesteader, all accounts are fascinating and really worth reading in order to fully appreciate and understand the time.

A must-read book for a Platonist
This book by Sir David Ross is, for me, the best account of Platos's famous theory of Ideas. The author goes back to Plato's earlyer dialogues and gives a detailed exposition of how the doctrine developed all through the dialogues, how were took the teachings of Socrates and how Plato gave to it full consistence. Especially fine is his account of the Parmenides, one of Plato's mature works. This is, may be, the most difficult of all the dialogues and Ross sheds real clarity on it. This is the book if one wants to get to know Plato's philosophy through his central root. It really helped me in my first readings of the divine Plato.

Shakespeare's Poetry
This book is fantastic! You get Venus and Adonis (erotic love poem), Rape of Lucrece (roman rape poem), Lover's Complaint (about the dangers of Love), Phoenix and the Turtle (symbolic of Love and Faith), and of course 154 lovely SONNETS.
David Bevington's introductions are short and informative; the footnotes are there for guidance and do not interfere with the text. A wonderful text. Buy it and take it to the beach.

Those who believe Grant was a "drunkard" or a "butcher" should read his own words, which show Grant's humor, pathos and unique personality. Masterfully edited by John Y. Simon, these volumes are a "must have" for anyone with an interest in U.S. Grant as a general, a politician and as a man
