Excellent summary of how/why Constitution is structured the way it is and why it has endured. Clear analysis of where things went wrong and how to bring them in line w/ original intent. Excellent first book on the subject from astute Constitutional lawyer Whitehead who defends rights of religious liberty in an increasingly hostile era unintended by the framers.

John Whitehead comes through as a real person with a not so promising background who emerges as a "bigger than life" Christian man. He truly makes one believe that with God all things are possible. Not only do we learn the truth about Paula Jones, but he also has met Clinton, Dobson, Jim Bakker, Jerry Falwell, Anita Hill, Pat Robertson, Randall Terry, etc, etc. And, though the book is not about her, I am equally enthralled with his wife, Carol. What a woman! She should write her own book about her life with John and how she perservered. You will be fascinated about John Whitehead's "conversion story."

He says that "we seem to be at the end of a long experiment..." This book is a collection of ridiculous historical observations with an astonishing lack of depth from a constitutional lawyer, and the author rolls over every possible historical event like a steamroller. The book presents itself as history, but it's really the author lamenting the loss of Christian values and how technology has been bad for society. Strange.

Constitutional lawyer John Whitehead displays a flexible intellect as he explores the intellectual and social movements in art, music, film, literature, politics, and philosophy over the past century. The book is extremely readable and provides an interesting way to survey vast amounts of accumulated thought. Readers will be hard pressed to reconcile the fact that Paula Jones' attorney and the writer of this book are the same man.
